Christ the King: King of Israel.

King of Israel.

`Nathaniel answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are King of Israel.” (John 1: 49)

The law of kingship under the Old Testament Covenant is very explicit. According to the divine law no stranger or foreigner was to be selected as King, but a brother of like nationality. Likewise no self-indulgent person or seeker of riches was permitted to reign.

The king was to be required to be familiar with the Scriptures and a seeker and follower of the truth.  Moses told the people of Israel -

`You shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses; one from among your brethren you shall set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.

But he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, for the Lord has said to you, “You shall not return that way again. Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor shall he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself.”

Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book from the one before the priests, the Levites. And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statues,

that his heart may not be lifted above his brethren, that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left, and that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children in the midst of Israel.` (Deut. 17: 15 - 20)

Jesus the `Just,` had every qualification and credential for kingship, according to the Law of Moses.

Jesus was divinely appointed King and anointed by deity. (Ps. 2: 1 - 7)

Jesus was born of the house of David, the tribe of Judah and the nation of Israel. He was one of the brethren of Israel. (Matt. 1: 1)

Jesus fulfilled the law of God. (Luke 4: 16 - 21)

Jesus had compassion for His brethren. (Matt. 9: 36)

No violation of the law was more glaring than when the leaders of Jewry shouted, “We have no king but Caesar.” (John 19: 15)

Christ Jesus was in full accord with every precept and prediction of the Word of God. He is the only one who fully magnified the law, glorified the truth, and ratified the promises; He genuinely beautified grace and finally dignified justice.

Solomon had lots of horses and lots of wives! And was very ‘wise’

Only Jesus could fulfill the criteria. All the other ‘Kings’ were, I guess a foreshadowing of Christ. why the preamble? why didnt all this unfold long ago? and yes the prophecy but God could have made this happen a long long time ago.

Hi mabel,

Now that is a very, very good question. To our minds it would have sorted things out much quicker, ay. However God has great purposes on the go. Also He gives mankind every opportunity to live right, but as we have seen over the centuries mankind is so wicked.

Now the great purposes are for all rulership in every realm to come under Christ`s rulership.

The earthly will be governed by Israel, then the universal realm will have rulership in the New Jerusalem, and finally the angelic realm, (third heaven) is where we will be with Christ on His throne.

People tend to just think of the earth and this world and how it needs being made new, however God desires that the Universal realm will also be cleansed and have rulership there. And finally above all that amazingly is where we will be with a new body and mind to be able to comprehend more. It is beyond our limited understanding now, though.

God has a whole expanding universe out there and I believe He is going to create more and more worlds in the age to come.

regards, Marilyn.

Just another thought - God is not a Dictator who would have just wiped out Lucifer when he sinned. God is giving Satan, (Lucifer`s name change to Satan - meaning accuser of the brethren) time to fulfill his desire to rule the world.

And what sort of rulership will Satan have? Yes a controlling, accusing, down treading, crushing power. Satan is deceiving the nations to think they have to `save the world` and that they can do it together. However, as we well know it is all about power and control - our way or you can`t `buy or sell` in our economy.

Thus Satan`s evil motives are exposed to all, and God`s judgments will be shown to be righteous.

`Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are your judgments.` (Rev. 16: 7)

what struck me about what you are saying here, got me thinking that the world is busy moving towards a universal system, whether people know it or not. Health, economy, religion, government a few to mention and this will be all tied to the Mark, Mark of the Beast) a 0ne body if you will...the counterfeit of the real deal

The real deal, is being  Saved, people who have accepted and trust and  believe  What Jesus Christ did for them on the Cross of Calvary, his shed blood, his blood atonement for ALL of our sins past, present and future sins .

Quote

KJV John 3:15-16

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

note it says loved and not loves and therefore this is past tense, which suggests that Jesus Christ paid for All of our Sins in full by his blood attonement

Quote

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

and for our part, this is a  free gift  to accept (grace), no strings attached, its fully up to us, its our freewill to choose as to whether we believe  what Jesus Christ did for us and receive Salvation. and like you say Maz, God is not a dictator and so it is up to us to choose, Heaven or Hell that is the choice.

Hi mabel,

What you have written, is I believe by the Holy Spirit. It is the most important truth that we need to bring to mind and tell others when the Lord quickens us to.

Thank you so much for sharing. Marilyn.
