The Forming of the Body of Christ. Contents and Overview.

OVERVIEW

Jesus said, “I will build my ekklesia, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.` (Matt. 16: 18)

Jesus told the disciples that He would build His ekklesia, however Jesus did not give any details of what that would be. The disciples already knew that Israel was an ekklesia, but they did not know of this other group.

Israel: ekklesia - called out of the nations.

Body of Christ: ekklesia - called out of Israel and the nations.

Jesus did not reveal this revelation concerning His ekklesia, for if he had then Satan would not have had Him killed. For in dying and rising from the dead, Jesus made the way for His ekklesia to have His very own divine nature. This new group`s inheritance would be to rule and reign with the Lord Jesus in the very realm where Satan, (Lucifer) had his throne, before he was cast out.

`we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.` (1 Cor. 2: 7 & 8)

Thus when Jesus ascended to the Father and was made Head of His Body, it is then He sent the Holy Spirit to begin forming those who believed in Him, into His Body, His ekklesia, called out ones from Israel and the nations.

Over time the revelation of the Body of Christ was given to the Apostle Paul who taught it to his disciples. We can read of what the Head of the Body taught Paul through the letters he wrote to his disciples.

Alongside this revelation we see that the 12 Apostles did not have this revelation of the Body of Christ. Their purpose was to witness of Jesus` life and ministry. This provided the foundational truth that was needed for the believers, and for this truth to also go to the Gentiles.

Let us follow the work of the Head of the Body as He works through His Holy Spirit teaching the believers more of His wonderful purposes particularly for them.

Having studied Acts it was impressed on me time and time again that Acts is a Transitional book. Now for a lot of people this would be controversial.

Paul has a massive part to play in the church age and yet you wouldn’t think so with the deafening silence, regarding Paul and the mainstream church. It took me to home school myself to find this out!

The 12 Apostles were mandated by Jesus to go to the Jews and to avoid the Gentiles.

Luke 22:27

Matt 10:5-6

Acts 1 to Acts 7 is characterised by a ministry to Jews by Jews only. by rightly dividing and checking the context of scripture this helped to clear up confusion.

The Apostles message to the Jews was WHO Jesus Christ is the WHAT message came later, with Paul.

Also at this time period the Early Church was embryonic, in that it wasn’t until Christ died that a New Testament was started. and the Church, the Body of Christ and that took a while to 'show' So with that stated, the New Testament started as follows;

Matthew 27:45 through to 28:1-20

Mark 15:37 through to 16:1-20

Luke 23:46 through to 24:1-53

John 19:30 through to 20:1-25

key to all of this is that the Temple sheet was torn in two!

the Early Church was started by Jews for Jews they were the first in the Body of Christ it was just that they didnt know this yet! Christ died to make a Body of the Church!
