The Forming of the Body of Christ. Israel: Transition.

TRANSITION.

From Jesus` earthly ministry to Israel to His later ministry to His Body there is a transition time. The apostles were still focused on Jesus coming again to rule through Israel and coming out from Roman rule.

The book of Acts shows us this transition time, then, later how the Lord Jesus begins forming His body. Acts was written by the physician Luke to give to an important man called, Theophilus. Luke had written to him previously, (in the Gospel of Luke) telling of all that Jesus `began to do and teach:` and then in Acts, Luke writes of what Jesus continued to do and teach through His Holy Spirit.

`The former account I made, O Theophlius, of all that Jesus began to do and teach, until the day in which He was taken up after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen,..` (Acts 1: 1 & 2)

When Jesus rose from the grave He was with the apostles for forty days speaking to them of the things regarding the rulership of God.

Jesus `presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them (apostles) during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.` (Acts 1: 3)

Jesus then commanded them to wait in Jerusalem till they had received of His Holy Spirit.

`And being assembled together with them, He (Jesus) commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from me; for John truly baptised with water, but you shall be baptised with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” (Acts 1: 4 & 5)

Apostles focused on Israel.

The apostles however were focused on when Jesus would restore Israel to rule over the nations. Rome was in power and they wanted to come out from under their rule. Jesus told them that it wasn`t for them to know when that would happen.

`Therefore when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom (rule) to Israel?” And he said to them, “It is not for you to know the times and seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.`

                                                                                                                             (Acts 1: 6 & 7)

this is key to the beginning of the transitional events. Jesus himself said they would be baptised with the Holy Spirit...and like i have said Acts is a transitional book. Baptism by water was being superseded by Baptism of the Holy Spirit. The Jews were Baptised in water to acknowledge they accepted that Jesus is their Messiah the WHO message if you will.

hence why John the Baptist was offering Water Baptism but the religious leaders refused to acknowledge WHO Jesus Christ is. in that he is their Messiah. if they had of done it would have made the way straight!!

what i find interesting regarding the Jews is that they are forbidden to read Isaiah 53 (i think?) the suffering servant.

they were waiting for the KOG the Jews knew that Daniel's 70th week prophecy was yet to be fulfilled and knew that they would have to go through Tribulations ...however as we all know that was postponed it still is yet to happen! and going on world events that time is drawing near very near.

if you are not saved yet i would highly encourage you to get saved!

The Gospel Of Our Salvation

Quote

1 Corinthians 15:1-4

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Christ shed his blood for all of our sins, past, present and future sins. He was buried and rose again on the 3rd day according to scripture.

We are saved by grace through faith in Christ alone. Not of ourselves, not of works, lest any man should boast. It is grace something we didn’t earn, something we don’t deserve. That God gave his only begotten Son Jesus Christ that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

How do you come to that?

You admit that you are a sinner and in need of Christ and come to Christ. You put your faith and trust in him

You accept him as saviour and your are saved. Then the Holy Spirit will indwell in you.

You are saved and justified by the blood of Jesus Christ and sealed until he day of redemption and you are rapture ready. And this means that you need not have any fear of what is happening in the world because you are Saved from this. once you chose to believe what Christ did for you that he died for all of your sins you cannot lose your salvation.

The Holy Spirit will indwell in you. He will lead you and guide you the Holy Spirit is your best friend.

Hi mabel,

Excellent comments there, and much needed. The Holy Spirit has certainly given you the revelation of being saved. Also what the Jews knew and what they hadn`t been told yet.

So glad you have studied this and can add to the study here.

much appreciated, Marilyn.
