The Forming of the Body of Christ. Israel: Jewish Converts.

Jewish Converts.

`Then Peter said to them, Repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.` (Acts 2: 38 & 39)

About three thousand souls were added to the number of Jewish disciples. They continued to go to the Temple daily and also from house to house sharing food, possessions and praising God. The people of Israel were receiving Jesus as their Lord and Messiah, their long awaited King. (Acts 2: 40 - 47)

Apostle`s Doctrine.

`And they continued steadfastly in the apostle`s doctrine and fellowship, in breaking of bread and in prayers.` (Acts 2: 42)

The apostles witnessed of Christ`s life, death, resurrection and ascension. They taught of Christ`s teaching to Israel of the promises that God had given to the Fathers, (Rom. 15: 8). This included that Jesus would return with His mighty angels to the Mount of Olives, to deliver Israel, and bring vengeance upon the rebellious. Israel would then rule over the nations of the world. (Zech. 14: 3 & 4,  Micah 4: 1 - 3)

But note, the apostles had no revelation of the Body of Christ, for that had not been revealed at that time.

Israel`s Rulership Rejected the Holy Spirit.

Although many Jews received the Holy Spirit, the leaders in Israel at that time did not. Throughout the book of Acts account we read of the rulers of the people and elders of Israel rejecting the message and the disciples. They commanded and threatened Peter and John not to speak of the Lord`s name, (Acts 4: 18) and later even stoned Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit. (Acts 7: 57 - 60)

Stephen spoke to the Jewish council of God`s favour upon Israel but how they were

`stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ear! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.` (Acts 7: 51)

After the Jewish rulers stoned Stephen there arose great persecution and the believers were scattered throughout the regions. As they went they shared the word of God concerning Jesus as Lord and Christ, and of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 8: 1 - 8)

Eventually the leaders of the (unsaved) Jews not only rejected Jesus as Lord and Christ, but they also rejected the Holy Spirit. (Acts 28: 26 & 27)

It was only a couple of years later that their Temple was destroyed and the nation scattered amongst the nations. (AD 70)

now that to me is Jews only and not any Gentiles as my understanding is that the Gentiles wouldnt ordinarily go to the Temple to worship?

Apostles's Doctrine was Jews to Jews no Gentiles. also the Apostle's Doctrine preached Water Baptism to be saved and no mention of the Holy Spirit....

when Jesus returns to the Mount of Olives it will be at the end of the Armageddon (i think?) so again this is relevant to the Jews only

hence why the Apostles only mention the Water Baptism to be saved...remember the book of Acts is a Transitional book

Acts 8 is a pivotal point in the Book of Acts, the Jews once more rejected Christ. 3 Strikes and they are put on hold by God! and God then turns his attention to the Gentiles. Hence Why Paul is So Important in the bible. Paul is the conduit between God and the Gentiles. Paul had lots of revelation from God. God was able to use a man like Paul, who was called Saul before his conversion. not sure but i think Saul was a Hebrew name and Paul was a Roman name. which was more fitting especially as he died in Rome where the Roman Church was...

their birth right put on ice if you will! some say that God's punishment  40 Jubilees x 50 = 2,000 years? interesting thought. the Jews were thinking that possibly 12 months later...the acceptable year of the Lord, then when that didnt happen they thought ok maybe 7 years when Jesus Christ returns, for the tribulation and when that didnt happen they realised it wouldnt happen in their lifetime.

Well said there mabel.

Now those who receive the Holy Spirit at Pentecost would have encouraged others to also. Remember Peter was surprised that the Holy Spirit came upon the Gentiles. (Acts 10: 44 - 48)

Interesting about the Jubilees.

yes Peter of course. for a while i did start to try to figure out what was to the Jews and what was to the Gentiles. and God started to guide me i also was keen to know about doctrines that make up Christianity...i just knew that was important. i think that was a prompting of the Holy Spirit. that was probably over 2 years back now i seem to recall. i remember feeling frustrated by this. because i just couldnt make any in roads with 4 Gospels of Jesus Christ, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

these last 2 years has made sense to all that 'confusion' why i just couldnt engage with the 4 Gospels. i thought it was down to me and the difficulties that i have. but it wasnt that at all in the end.
