The Forming of the Body of Christ. The Impartation of the Divine Nature.
The Impartation of the Divine nature.
The people heard Peter and changed their mind as to who Jesus was, they were then baptised and received the Holy Spirit.
`Then those who gladly received his word were baptised; and that day about three thousand souls were added.`(Acts 2: 41)
These Jewish converts were taught of the Lord, His life, death, resurrection and ascension. They knew about God`s promises to Israel that their Messiah would come and that Israel would rule the nations.
(However the great truths, of the Body of Christ were yet to be revealed by the Head of the Body to the Apostle Paul many years later.)
The Holy Spirit imparted the very life of Christ into the believers.
`Jesus our Lord...His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises,
that through these you may be partaker of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.` (2 Peter 1: 2 - 4)
The believers shared all things and fellowshipped daily together.
`Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with simplicity of heart, praising God and having favour with all the people.
And the Lord added to the ekklesia daily those who were being saved.` (Acts 2: 44 - 47)
The work of the Holy Spirit in these early believers brought forth a wonderful sense of community and oneness, sharing all things and fellowshipping, rejoicing in their salvation. Others saw the change in their lives and thus sought to know the Lord themselves, daily being added to the group.
`Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.` (Acts. 4: 32)
