Spiritually Learning

My dear children,I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin,we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.

1 John 2:1

What is the alternative to being united with Christ? It is despair and utter discouragement at all turns. However, by accepting Jesus Christ, we trade in our inadequacy for His adequacy and are born again. We have the opportunity to start over with a clean slate. And as God's spiritual offspring,He teaches us how to be victorious in every aspect of life.

Of course, the fact that the Lord calls us His children indicates that He knows we have a lot to learn-and in the process of growing in our knowledge of Him and His ways, we are going to fall occasionally.

But, friend, take heart. The Father understands that you are not going to be a perfect Christian. You will falter and fail, but He will not forsake or abandon you. His grace is sufficient for you-each and every day!

Lord Jesus, thank you for being such a wise and patient Teacher and for forgiving my sin. Truly,You deserve my praise

amen

"The seed falling on good soil refers to someone

who hears the word and understands it."

Matthew 13:23

The fertile soil in this verse is what I refer to as the committed

mind-one that's been cultivated, is ready for the seed to take root,

and will ultimately bring forth fruit. This person is teachable-God

can instruct this faithful believer in any area.

So how can you cultivate a committed mind?

By listening carefully to His message-fixing "your thoughts

on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and

admirable" (Philippians 4:8). By resisting outside clutter-

purposely refusing to entertain frivolous distractions. And finally ,by

asking the Savior to help you concentrate on His Word and apply it to

your life. This can only be done by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ because

He is the One who enables you to receive the Word in your inner person.

Friend, cultivate a committed mind by evaluating your life in

the light of what God tells you. And be assured, when you obey His

truth and submit to His leadership, you will grow into the productive,

fruit-bearing believer you long to be.

Father,I devote myself to You-cultivate

my mind with your truth

amen

2 Ti 1:12-14

12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
KJV
