  1. 1. First I Didn't refer to this in the way you took it - Firstly there is no such thing in Biblical scripture as Jesus or Paul I said this - "Jesus examples or of Pauls examples or teaching." In otherwords Jesus gave us plenty of examples of his life in the new testament for which we are to live by. Yes, Paul followed Jesus in his teaching but he also gave instructions to Christians. I certainly agree with this "...and it can often be a spirtiual barrier where only the word and prayer can break through. (especially as the truth is foolishness to the world." I think now I am getting closer to what I am trying to ask. Yes "Word" and "Prayer" can break through. I believe in prayer emphatically. So what Word from scripture can I refer to when talking to a friend or ralative that is a brother or sister in Christ, of the things that I have mentioned? such as "... Is there a verse to show that there is consequences of particular sin activity especially that of abuse or one losing their temper? A typical example is when they use their own surname and say it is "....... trait or fault." Is there a verse or passage of Scripture of which I can use for the Spirit of God to penetrate to friends and relatives which have the for mentioned problem? Im'e not forgetting that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.' "Even Me" But I need some scripture to verify when it comes up in converstation I can refer to it for the Holy Spirit to do His work, not forgetting they may have something for me as well.
  2. Light and Darkness in believers. I believe we can lose fellowship and have split in friends and family because something of truth Spiritually of which should have been learned a long time ago. That is they lie to one side of the family to keep in good with them and then tell another side of the family a different version. I am looking for a spacific verse of Jesus example or something in Paul's writings. I seem to have used the wrong verse talking about being unequally yoked. But rather I was focusing on the other part of the verse " for what fellowship has light with darkness" paraphrased. To me if I may use an example of this... "that blue shirt doesn't go with that green paints for what don't you know that blue never goes with green." Just like blue doesn't go with green statement, it is a general statement. I believe although it is talking about being "Unequally yoked" there is a general phrase here that "light doesn't go with darkness." They just don't meet. Because of this sometimes we can't get the light through of a biblical truth even to those who do believe. But I as I said I need a verse that shows this in true form through the scriptures. This would be easier and much more effective than to say a broad statement that not seeing a particular truth is sin.
  3. When this subject is mentioned...my first thought is often of Solomon. While he was a man who sought God's wisdom and tried to be like his father, King David, it was this very same thing that put a wedge between him and God. Does this mean we cannot have a relationship with non-believers? Not necessarily. For when we look at Jesus, who was it he sat with and spent most of His time with? The very same souls whom were the most possible to lead him astray. My understanding or comprehension of the message in this scripture could be wrong, so I ask forgiveness and will pray for guidance on it. But....I have always felt that God does NOT WANT US TO BE INFLUENCED by these such individuals in our lives. Should we choose to love, care, and befriend them....we need to always strive to set a loving but Godly, or Christlike example for them. So should we speak to, help, or spend time with such individuals we do so without necessarily falling into the very practices we hope to get them out of.
  4. Light and Darkness is referred more ways than one incident in the Bible. Can someone help me here as this is what "I hope" to get accross. It look like thus far I am not doing to well or I am not explaining myself adequately. And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness overcame it not. John1:5 “we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness , we lie and do not practice the truth ;” 1John 1:6. I believe in 1 John is for the Christian. So even the Christian can have the light obscured and can't see that something which is of a serious nature when truth is being told to another brother or sister. I know it is sin to put up a wall even for a Christian. But how can we penetrate that sin when one is'nt seeing the light? Is there a verse to show that there is consequences of particular sin activity especially that of abuse or one losing their temper. A typical example is when they use their own surname and say it is "....... trait or fault." I like spacific verses or typical bible reality in either testament but preferably one of Jesus examples or of Pauls examples or teaching. I know sin is sin but sometimes a direct passage can have more impact than saying it's sin to do this or that.
  5. 1. I think I may need to change my opening sentence or question in this discussion. The verse maybe talking about relationship but I was considering this part of the verse as I think it is a general statement for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?" I took this as a general statement even though the verse was talking about being unequally yoked. 2. Then we have these verses that talk about light and darkness.
  6. I need help along this line of thought. Please send in your comments and other biblical references to edit into this writing. An agreement or disagreement is ok -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness? 2 Cor 6:14 We may have read or heard this verse as related to engagement to a future spouse or contemplating a business partner. My question however is how do we parallel this verse to every day life? I find myself sometimes not being able to say “Praise the Lord.” or an “Amen” to something I may agree upon to a person who may not be a Christian. I also believe judging if they be a Christian or not is not my business, but the bible does says “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”Matt 7:20 It is evident a boundary is implemented and endorsed in this verse. It is evident there is a total unequal fellowship between the believer and those that proclaim they haven’t received Him as Lord and Saviour. I may be corrected here but it says “AND” “What communion has light with darkness?” I believe this is a second boundary. How is this to be? Paul teaches there is no communion between light and darkness. Light penetrates darkness. If I were to go into a very dark room and after being there for thirty seconds and turn a torch through the darkness, the torch light is not the same as the darkness. 14“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid .15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matt 5:14-16. Yes, we should let our light shine for the Gospels sake, because to have fellowship there cannot be a meeting of light and darkness. It is either light or dark. And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness overcame it not. John1:5 “we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness , we lie and do not practice the truth ;” 1John 1:6. We need to practice the truth. If we do not have worship in truth then a boundary is not a boundary but rather a wall in our lives which cannot be penetrated because there is a wall to obscure the darkness of which it wants to penetrate.
  7. Edited from my first writing. Other early writings from my blog. What Philip has learned -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is evident from the Bible to have an active sacrifice of the life we had, without the Holy Spirit, so we may have the Holy Spirit living inward and showing outward in our every day life. In this life of knowledge I find some difficulty because there is so many right things which we can master in our lives which we want to give advice to help others. We can be trapped in our thoughts so vivid that we are doing the right thing only to find out or think, the very essence of the suggestion portrayed is not appreciated. It is imperative for the one making a suggestion or giving advice is ready also to listen. Listening and speaking can’t be taken on the assumption on the knowledge of the person which a conversation or advice may take place. To be angry at someone for not adhering or to the one giving advice can lead to interruption of a negative nature to the other person. Can we really have no interruption from Satan who can cause a rift or a split in families and friends? I don’t think so. This is where difficulty lies. It lies in the fact we have the old nature still within us and the Spirit of God is trying to tell us to do the right thing. It’s like a tug-of-war having the old nature pulling us on one end and the Spirit of God trying to lead us on the other end. We need to let go of the baggage which holds us back from winning the war with the flesh and trust in the almighty God, by reading the Bible. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath. James 1:18, 19

    Knowing God

I never thought these questions would come up but It came up in our Bible study, two questions. 1. God being all knowing why did He choose his Son to die on the the cross, that is could He have chosen any other way because He is God knowing all things. 2. From God's view, Knowing all things, he knew that man would fall, that is, Adam and Eve, So why did he choose to put man on earth when he knew they would sin against Him? Looking forward to answers Thanks.
  9. One weekend, I decided to go camping. I slept soundly that night. Waking up in the middle of mist and fog early in the morning, I stumbled across a figure among the mist, which looked like a man.
  10. Relating to my life, I watch the wrestling on television as a relaxation. It comes amazing to me as I see them jump the ropes and do somersaults over the ropes and down on to the thin foam mats below. As I watch them, I notice it takes time for them to get up. Their opponent does not let them because this is an advantage for them so they can win the match. Before you know it, the wrestler is thrown into the ring, a cover is implemented and a three count is counted by the referee. When we get attacked by Satan, or by people Satan uses, he does not want us to get up. We get kicked, we get held down so he can win. Watching the wrestling, I often see the opponent held down raising his arm so he will not lose the battle. In comparison, we can hold our hands up in prayer as Satan who may think he has the win over us over taken by God's almighty hand. To my surprise sometimes, I see the person I think is going to win the match, lose to the three count by the referee. It may seem like we have lost the match sometimes, but just like the wrestlers we can get up with triumph and fight another day. An injured wrestler will rest by not fighting another match until his wounds and breakages have healed. We need to be assured the injured wrestler will come back to challenge another match. Because a Christian has been hurt or injured does not mean we are out of any ministry. A person in this category needs healing from the Lord to be raised up stronger than ever before. Consuming other peoples lives in their own demise is not a wise thing to do. As I watch wrestlers do the wrong thing by others, I see the destruction of their own fame and injuries sustained because of their own stupidity. Before jumping the ropes to destroy someone's testimony we should consider the consequences of our actions before listening to what Satan has to offer. It is not worth the time consuming effort it takes to hurt someone else.
  11. During my working life with you I have seen all types of media telling their story regarding wars and major events in the world. I have spent my time in trousers, shirts and even on a bed side tables. I have been able to put my own slant on stories gathered around the world. Having money in my pocket has been exciting to gather. When the day ended, I was jammed full. With a lot of thought, I have been able to select an amount of money to publish what I wanted to share. I have been able to report about the devastation and starvation of children. The company I work for is grateful because I have earned so much money. Everything will be okay. The public will have fund-raising events. With this help and without my help, everything will be apples. Oh no! Not another phone call. It

  13. A True Story I was working with a Christian company when I was in my twenties. A sum of money was given to the employees at one Christmas for the sole purpose to give to a missionary of our own choice. I asked my boss about a missionary that he would suggest, to give my donation to. My heart was in it. I sent the cheque with a kindly letter stating this might help them get back to the mission field. With this correspondence, I thought I would get a thank you letter from them. On my way to work for a night shift, I quickly retrieved my letters from the mail box. I instantly opened it and read it. My mouth dropped, my heart sank as I read it. Not remembering now what it said, in a nicely handwritten letter, the content revealed how nasty and how unthoughtful I was supposed to be sending them the letter and the money, because I had no intentions of continuing support. Feeling alone with disappointment and heart broken, I threw the letter in the bin. Dragging my feet, I continued to go to work with a gloomy heart. Maybe being a bit more mature, I could have found out what the problem may have been. I certainly did not mean to hurt them in anyway. Whilst I did not feel guilty or in my mind cause the problem, I prayed for them. What we do or our reaction to things may not be important to us, but they may be important to others. Sometimes we do things not knowing what we do, can hurt another. Reaction from others may not stem from what we have done. The reaction could be what someone else has done or what they think has been done to them. My reaction of throwing the letter away may have been an immature thing to do at the time. It could have been what God expected me to do, so He could do what he wanted for their lives. We can learn from our mistakes and become the person that God wants us to be. At the same time he can deal with the person that we may have had correspondence with, even if we have lost contact. We need not feel alone. God knows what he is doing. For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone. Ps 86:10 KJV
  14. Speaking with our Lord aright If I had a conversation with our Lord face to face, I wonder what it would be. Would I tell Him about what somebody else has done to me? I wonder if it would be about what I did for someone else. It is amazing today how often we say things about others. The amount of misunderstanding in conversation that happens between two or more people is staggering. Would we discuss the love that we have for our Lord? That would go against man

  16. I was concerned today because I thought I had it wrong. But now I realize that it is more significant to me more than ever. It is known that we all have five senses. Although the amount of senses we do have could be debatable amongst cults. For the sake of this writing, let us stick to five senses. They are hearing, smelling, feeling, seeing and tasting. Today, I will only use two senses, hearing and tasting. To taste in a spiritual realm is metaphoric act that one can have. Hearing is relevant to sound. Or we often refer what we may take note of what is being said and apply it.

  18. With great concern I thought it necessary to do a study on first and second Timothy and Titus. We all have had some dealings with these books of the Bible, if in fact we have been Christians for any length of time. Personally, I have encountered much preaching especially of Pastoral and Elders and Deacons of the Church. It is true that we leave parts of the Bible out sometimes to meet our own ends or our own interpretation of the scriptures and will influence what we believe. Having said this, we must not leave out the Holy Spirit as he guides us in the time of need to a portion of scripture, in order that we may receive answers. It may be said that what Paul teaches was different to what Jesus taught in the Gospels. Questions may arise about our gifts or our capabilities that are elsewhere mentioned in Scripture. I would submit to you that this does not leave out the Pastoral Epistles in order to follow another passage that is written somewhere else in the Bible. Just as it was important to have all four Gospels written, it was also needed that the office of Elders and deacons was needed at the time that Timothy received the letter from Paul. Also it is important to note that it is written for our own instruction. Does one think that the Epistle to Timothy should not have been included in the Bible for our benefit? Just because our society has changed it is a shore fact that the Bible has never changed it's divine instruction. To say that these Pastoral qualifications should not be followed or rejected in some way is to say the Holy Spirit should have not put these epistles in our Bible for our instruction. What about our gifts? In scriptural context we can offer our gifts in the society today through the leadership of the Church or even have a ministry created to fulfil our gifts to society and the glorification of Scripture and Lord Jesus Christ through his Holy Spirit. This is not to discourage what the Holy Spirit wants from you, but I encourage that your ministry will be done in accordance with the instructions that is vividly written in His Holy Word. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 1Timothy 3:16.
  19. It seems like everywhere I go I find that someone wants to break the law to get where they are going. Or the wrong that others do forces the person who wants to do right to do wrong in order to prevent a collision. Just in general living it is accepted that if one does wrong, then the rightous has to fall into sink. This is done in order to keep the peace. Oh what a tragic downfall the world is facing when one is forced to stop on the road because someone is breaking the law. Or forced to go along with things because of someones wrongful view of the ethics in society that we are all forced to live in. The danger is that the wrong people do falls into a demised tragedy to where one thinks they are right in their wrongful acts. It is therefore a tragedy when one is told they cannot enter their own driveway because it is holding them up in some way. It is a tragedy when one forces their right of way whilst driving because they know that you do not want to damage your car or you would not damage theirs because it is too expensive to do so. It is a tragedy when you get stopped using a shop register at the shop becomes one is closing down then at a blink of an eye they reopen. Someone else then reopens and calls someon to their register that just arrived. I gues respect and order has gone out the window from God's laws into a miry clay of disrespectful filth of the wrong they seem to enjoy. I would even submit that some non Christian or not religous people would abhor the disrespect, and disorder of today's society. Why not come to Christ and help others to do so also that we can live in a cleaner society so that my unfortunate view can change.
