  1. Please allow me to reiterate. The suit, as I understand it, has less to do with legal oversights and more to do with religious descrimination on the part of NBC. NBC made it a point to have God edited out of Vegie tale episodes but proved to be less squeemish about showing Madonna in her own twisted reinactment of the crucifiction with her wearing a crown of thorns. Regardless how incompetant their lawyers were, the root of the problem lies with NBC and their disregard, contempt even, for Christian beliefs.
  2. Notice how news like this never makes it into mainstream media? They say there are certain subjects that are taboo in civilized conversation, politics and religion being the main two. We all know that the mainstream media is not shy about doing pieces on politics but for some reason the avoid religion like the plague, unless, of course, it's something negative about Christians/Christianity. It seems odd to me that, considering the supposed number of Christians in the U.S. that they resis writing articles that would get the attention of Christians in particular. They can't use the descrimination excuse since they all seem to be biased towards one political party or another. I would like to know why the mainstream media does not report such things but don't hesitate to write editorials on what Bill Clinton thinks. It seems backwards to me.
  3. In keeping with the title of the thread I would have to interject that Mulsims love Mohammed because according to his teachings the path to heaven is terribly simple. As we have all heard many times, to take a life is easy, to create life is nothing short of miraculous. It's easy to obey and to follow commands and laws, but to think for yourself and to choose between what is right and what is easy is always difficult. Jesus made our choice impossibly easy and still the world rejects him. Consider the parable, give a man a fish- you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish- you feed him for life. Every person is found in the possition of the man in need and we can either snatch the fish and run, or listen and watch carefully as we are shown the way.
  4. With all the political correctness these days they really need to find a better word than "intelligence" for the information they covertly gather.
  5. I recall hearing a little about this on the radio Friday. They mentioned something about some group suing NBC for religios descrimination or something. It apears that NBC fully intended to air a Madonna concert where she is being lifted up on a cross with a "simulated" wreath of thorns. The group meant to highlight NBCs' hipocracy in airing one but editing god out of Vegie tales. I have to say that I agree. A friend and I went to see Jet Lis' new movie and we had to sit through better than 30 minutes of previews. The sad thing is that almost all of the previews were for Horror movies like Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I couldn't help but think that none of these movies can be beneficial to society. The scary part is that enough people in our society find these kinds of violent depictions entertaining that the movie industry would even contemplate making them to begin with. That is the most frightening thing to me. A world filled with Jerry Springer fans just itching to see conflict and selfishly agressive behavior. They label them "reality" show but in reality they are, in my opinion, nothing more than tools for Satan to promote chaos and hatred. I don't believe there are many people on the face of the planet that can honestly deny the direction the world is headed. For those of us who are saved we can see it and know that we are called to disassociate ourselves with "the world" but that does not preculed us from lamenting what we are witnessing.
  6. I sometimes wonder if he's serious on anything or is just playing a giant joke on everyone. He is the joke. Think ablout all the attention the Mulahs would be getting and the scrutiny they would be under if they didn't have their dancing chicken.
  7. The fact is that Jordan signed a treaty with the Israelis recognising the pre 1967 frontiers, the latter presumably wouldn't have bothered sighning it if they felt it was worthless. Furthermore the Jordanians have long, even before the treaty, had a good day-to-day working relationship. Why then does he sound like the violence in the middle east is Israels fault?
  8. I had little against Bush untill he defended the ports deal and started pushing for amnesty. I don't bother myself with who or why we got into Iraq but I don't think it's our responsibility to fund the creation of democracies around the globe. I understand it's our responsibility to fix what we broke but I didn't understand we were going to wind up trying to build a democratic nation from scratch. Some people put the blame for the entire Iraq conflict on Bushs' shoulders and I think in doing so they give him far too much credit. Simply put, my biggest problem with Bush is his sudden lean to the left. I know many will disagree with me on this but thats what I feel.
  9. Tell us, professor, why the fed would need to raise interest rates just because fuel prices have gone down to pre-katrina levels? The government lowers taxes to put money back in peoples pockets. Lower prices on fuel does the same thing. How is this a bad thing? I would like to know if whenever the government gives us a tax break the fed would automatically raise interest rates so the people don't get too comfortable. I really don't get it. I admit I am not an economist.
  10. He probably went to college here in the U.S. .
  11. It really is a piecemeal approach but you have to admit that proposals to build a fence along the entire border have been shot down time and time again. I would prefer a peiecemeal aproach than no aproach at all. 700 miles of a 6000 mile boarder doesn't seem like much, but at least it would be something. If we wait till such a task force agrees with a "total" aproach to border security many of us will be in the grave and/or the nation will resemble Mexico both on a economic level as well as culturaly.
  12. When the King of Jordan refers to "Palestinian Lands" he including All of Israel. The uniformed West assumes he only means the West Bank and E. Jerusalem. The violence that Israel is subjected to, predates Israel's presence in the West Bank. If the violence is the product of Israel's presence in the West Bank, how does that account for the fact that the Six Day War started when Israel was not in the WestBank? Furthermore how does it account for the war of independence in 1948 and the Suez War in 1956? How does it account for the decades of terrorism committed against Israel prior to 1967? The root of the violence is Arab/Muslim hatred for Israel, period. The goal has always been to dismantle Israel completely. I agree. Let the King of Jordan put up or shut up. Let the palestinians enter freely into Jordan and grant them citizenship and maybe other nations will do the same, but it would be quite hipocritical to ask this only of Israel. He wishes to make it look like Israel alone is responsible for the plight of the "palestinian" people when Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Egypt are, at least, equally responsible. These days the people known to us as the palestinains, to me, resemble a junk yard dog all too willing to bite the hand that feeds it after the neigborhood kids have finished tormenting it from the safety of the fence. Perhaps not the most accurate representation but its close.
  13. Talk about a nimble tongue. While most of us would agree that "religion" could be considered more compatible with reason than with violence, I don't believe the Pope was implying that was the case with Islam specifically, but all the religions of the world in general. His stating that muslims, even those "which help to promote peace, liberties, justice and moral values for the benefit of all humanity", worship "the one God" is taking it a little far. I do believe there are muslims that seek these things, but they are the exception. While Islam gives lip service to love and peace, it contradicts itself when it calls for the death of infadels. I'm certian that Mohammed understood that the death of infadels would indeed involve violence, which Muslims seem to disagree with. Do you actualy think that muslims wanting to cut our heads off or burn us alive wish to do so out of love for us? Not hardly. In fact, the Koran that Mohammed passed to his faithful followers, teaches against showing mercy. From what I understand about Islam and the Koran, the Koran cantradicts itself to the degree that a true believer would belong in a padded room.
  14. It's interesting that the King of Jordan should say this when he knows all too well that the territory of "palestine", which he claims belongs to the Palestinians, was divided up and resulted in the creation of Jordan itself. If these countries actually believe that the lands of Palestine should be returned to the Palestinians let them be the first, or open their borders to the Palestinians as they should have done from the very beginning.
  15. I'm not condemming. I am simply sceptical and rightly so. Even if the first films produced are scripturally accurate, I would be wary that at some point they might begin to mislead us in some way.
  16. Oookaaay. This thread is only like 7 months old.....hehe...though as relevent as the day it was opened.
  17. Wouldn't it be 2 pence then? Just curious. It's odd, to me, how we managed to adopt a new method of weights and measures when one had already been established long before the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock. I can understand the need to create a new system of currencies, but not weights and measures. I guess they just wanted to be different in as many ways as possible.
  18. You know whats laughable is for muslims to claim that the western powers have declaired war on Islam. What is equally silly is people like Prez Bush saying that they aren't. Western powers are indeed at war with Islam, but it was Mohammed himself that declared war against people who did not believe as he did (A.K.A Infadels). Islam, claimed by many to be a religion of peace (clearing throat), teaches that infadels must be coverted or die and that the "faithful" must kill Jews on sight, as I understand it. So much for any glimmer of peace resulting from anything other than world domination. The moderate Muslims, those who live by its laws and claim the faith (or face being killed/tortured/beheaded), are the only reason people have accepted that Most muslims are peacefull. I say that those people who profess to be muslim and are peaceful are not muslims at all and only claim to be for their sakes and that of their families. Try to name a single country that has real freedom of religion where the muslim communities are also growing by leaps and bounds. I believe that if it weren't for the threat of death and constant persecution of all other religions many Muslims would "convert" to other religions by the millions.
  19. I just saw on the news that the Fox channel or Fox Media group has birthed a new prodegy created to take advantage of the "itching ears" of faith based groups. I don't believe they will focus on Christians and more than likely will only add to/feed off of the increasing division among religious groups. Another thread here mentioned how Pres Bush thought we was seeing signs of revival in the U.S. While one the surface one might think this were so due to the increasing number of "faith" centered programming, I am suspicious of what these media companies are trying to feed us. Inevitably whatever they decide to air will be watered down and "tolerant". I can picture in my mind all the faithfull wishing to be comforted only to be decieved by the secular powers wishing not only to make a profit off them, but also to reprogram those whose ears are itching. The increased "air time" Christianity gets may, by some, seem to be a good thing but I believe we have been more than suffiently warned that this would happen.
  20. Are there really people so stingy that they insist on writting of the money they donate? Do these same people ask for a receipt from the guy on the corner? Talk about double standards! Am I to understand that a large number of these people who tithe only do so because they get a tax writeoff for it? And then they are critical of those of us who prefer to give love offerings rather than tithe? Unbelievable.
  21. Blah blah blah. Apologize or there will be war? Sounds like they love peace alright. Instead of asking for an apology, they demand one, and when they don't get one, they start with the threats. They talk like they could take over the world on a whim. The way I see it, the louder they shout, the more threats they make and the more acts of violence they commit, the more people will see through their charade and sugar coated lies.
  22. I'm not a Jew but I feel the urge to spit on someones shoes. "Spitooey! Theres your apology!"
  23. I can see why Christiandom has been so quiet about Islam. We are taught that if our actions cause our brother to stumble then we must resist that action. At this point our silence and constant tongue biting has been our undoing. The Islamic world again perceives Christianity as week and passive. While violence is never the answer, we should never be afraid to speak the truth. We are called to be beacons of truth and love to those around us are we not? There are too many people around the world walking around in a cloud of disbelief and misinformation. When we stop holding our tongues and find within us that same fire that Jesus had when he witnessed the money changers in his fathers temple, perhaps the followers of Mohammed will have to think about who they are dealing with.
  24. Does anyone know if there are laws against the Red cross or the American Heart and Lung Association endorsing a political candidate? I think we need to consider the many different organisations that have tax exempt status before we are so quick revoke that of the Christian Church/churches. Think of how many of those exempt organisations are free to speak freely while the churhces are being muzzled. While I would like to see the church have its voice back, would removing the tax exempt status accomplish this? Somehow or another someone would scream foul and introduce a new law, based on separation of church and state, outlawing churches from giving "political" advice without a liscense or something and the sacrifice of the tax exempt status would have been for nothing.
