  1. Well, this is not someone, but the word of God that tells me; No one is saved by keeping God's law. All are saved by the miracle-working grace of God. But those who are saved, or transformed, by the grace of Jesus will want to obey His law as an expression of their love and thanksgiving to Him. John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. James 2: 17-20. Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. 18 But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe -- and tremble! 20 But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Will anyone ever be saved by works? Can we work our way to heaven by works? I do not for one minute believe that we will be saved by our works or can work our way to heaven. According to the Bible, we will be judged by our works. Look at this verse: "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." Revelation 20:12. So, we can not work our way to heaven by our good works, but we should have good works, shouldn't we? "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16. The point is, we cannot work our way to heaven, but because we have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, we will have good works - not to be saved, but because we are saved. We honor our parents, not because the law says so, no, we do this because we love them. We have only one God, not because the law says so, but because we love Him. We do not kill, not because the law says so, but because we love our brothers. All ten of the commandments should we keep, because we love God and we love our brothers and sisters.
  2. By the way, I think you are referring to Heb. 8:13?
  3. The covenants has been greatly distorted and misunderstood Rufus, to make it short, let us notice what the old covenant was not. It was not the ten Commandments, let me tell you why, because they did not wax old and vanish away (ver. 13). They did not have poor promises (ver. 6) and they were not faulty (v. 7). Now, to understand the covenants you have to study, remember this is just a condense way to pass the info. What was the old covenant, and how was it ratified? It was an agreement between God and Israel described in Ex. 19:5-8 (I beg you to read it) whereby the people promised to keep the Ten Commandments, remember that? And it was ratified by the sprinkled blood of an ox (Ex. 24:7,8). Now, the poor promises of the people failed because they tried to obey in human strength alone. Do you see it? the "poor promises" was of the people, the people failed not the ten commandments. In comparison, the new covenant was instituted and ratified by the blood of Jesus at His death (Heb. 12:24; 13:20; Matt. 26:28). It went into effect when He died. Lets put this in a different way: God make a pact (covenant) with the people. 'Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 'And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." Ex. 19:5-6. The people accept the covenant (pact)three times! Then all the people answered together and said, "All that the LORD has spoken we will do. (Exodus 19:8; Exodus 24:3; Exodus 24:7) God give the ten Commandments: And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God. (Ex. 31:18) The people broke their promise (poor promises): And the LORD said to Moses, "Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. (Ex. 32:7) God forgive them and make a
  4. I've been reading some books about it, and it's rather fascinating. I haven't gotten it all straight in my head yet, but from what I understand, God's commandments (the 10 commandments) should be followed for the simple fact that they are GOD'S laws, and not the Law of Moses, or any other Levitical man-made law that the Pharisees or Saducees came up with AFTER God gave the 10 commandments. That is interesting that you mention this
  5. I believe that we need to observe the Ten Commandments, the eternal moral laws of God. But the ceremonial law were nail to the cross, like the killing of the lamb etc.
  6. Well, to clear the air, I have not been to seminary...but I do find your response interesting. It might be worth starting a topic on because I am curious what horrible things they are teaching at Bible Colleges that kill a person's faith? I'm not sure what you perceive my "view of the bible" to be...or why "my view" is so bad. Which version exactly is the inspired one? Do you include the Septuagint in that as well? I will admit that I do not think there is anything "straight forward" about the transliterations of the bible. It requires alot of study, patience, prayer, understanding...and a heavy dose of the Holy Spirit...to discern alot of what we read in the Bible. Now certainly I understand why people believe in 950 year old men...and I can accept that it is an issue of faith. What I don't understand is why people assume I lack faith, or have some kind of twisted "my view" of the bible because the concept of people living 950 years makes no sense to me at all...in a biblical context. I mean, we know that the bible is not a science book, or a step-by-step guide to how God created the Universe, and it is certainly not a calendar. So whether I believe Noah lived 95 years (using the decimal theory), or Noah lived 79 years (using the months theory), or Noah lived "???" years based on the theory that we don't know what unit of measurement they used 6500 years ago....It doesn't shake my faith in God at all. Also...just curious...I thought the whole "body rebuilds itself" mantra was a new age Deepok Chopra thing. I know the body has a few regenerative qualities..but bone, heart, brain mass, even eye sight are all degenerative over time. Wow, that is amazing that you say to have faith in God, even that you believed that the Bible has errors in translation, that is like admitting that the devil has more power than God if you think about it. The Bible is the only thing we have as Christians. The words in the Bible are not just words. You might see black and maybe red ink on white paper, or even just pixels on a computer screen, but it is much more than that. It is a message that is made of spirit and life with an unexplainable inherent potency and vitality.
  7. I'm not sure if you are saying that Moses lived more than 900 years, or you are talking about two different persons. But Moses lived until 120 years old; the only scriptural reference to the burial of Moses is Deut. 34:5, 6, where it is recorded that the Lord buried His faithful servant and that his grave was not known to men. Jude (jude 1:9) now reveals that the dead body was the subject of dispute between Christ and Satan. From the fact that Moses appeared with Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration it may be concluded that the Lord triumphed in the contest with the devil and raised Moses from his grave, So, if someone is looking for his body, is probably someone that does not know the Bible or does not believe in it. I believe in the Bible, so I believe that Moses was raised, making him the first known subject of Christ
