  1. I'm sorry you are going through this. We've all heard of people turning around and getting better against all odds. I can't say with any real conviction that we would be able to change God's mind one way or the other at this point. I understand how bad you feel. My father died 2 years ago and I watched him struggle for every breath looking panicked for weeks and months. I am fortunate in that I lived too far away to be there all the time. My UNSAVED brother was there nearly everyday and I feel for him. He's still lost and I honestly don't know if my father was lost or not. My father told me once that he prayed with my pastor on the day of my wedding. That was 25 years ago and I never saw any evidence that anything about my fathers life ever changed. They say we will know them by their fruits. But it's not really for us to judge. Only God knows for real what was in a persons heart when they prayed the prayer of salvation. I really don't care much for the types of people that go around trying to force people into saying the prayer of salvation. I know they mean well. It's just that I wonder how often they give a lost person some false sense that they are just getting a toe hold in heaven and that they don't need anything else. I am not suggesting that salvation is based on anything that we do. But isn't there a certain amount of "doing" that comes with a true heart conversion? Honey, just pray for your dad and beg for more time. We know by the parable about the people being hired to work in the fields and the complaint that the last hired was paid the same as the first, that God will accept a person in his kindgom at the last moment. Of course, there was the man on one of the crosses next to Jesus that was saved at the last moments too.
  2. Why wouldn't the countries who are atheist or islamic, or whatever, be the recipients of God's wrath rather than countries who are at least partly Christian? I mean wouldn't God be much angrier at Iran or North Korea than the U.S.? Why are you so convinced that this is the worst country in the eyes of the Lord? I didn't write this. But I do believe that in many ways America is far worse than atheistic countries. Tell me this... What is worse... Is it worse to grow up in a country that has deep religious ideas that are not of God and to barely have any reason to change those ideas... Or... Is it worse to live in a land of freedom, God's way, receive so many of God's great blessings, to raise to heights few people will ever know and THEN to turn our backs on God? In the old testament it was made very clear that sin was to be rooted out of a clan of people. Evil doers were to be destroyed. So many of us just bury our heads in the sand and do nothing at all about the sin that's so rampent all around us. How many Christians in this country even take 5 minutes out of their day to pray and ask forgiveness for the terrible destruction all around us? We have absolutely NO IDEA what it means to be persecuted for our beliefs. We will find out one day and I fear it's going to be soon. We haven't even stopped the slaughtering of our babies!
