  1. Jesus Christ is God and his commandments are the commandments of God. He was God and was the one who gave the commandments to Moses. Then, the Gospel commandments are the commandments that Moses really received. The commandments of the Old Testament are other thing, because they don't keep perfectly the commandments of God as taught by Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ abolished the commandments of the Old Testament. The true Law of God taught by Jesus Christ "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets" (Matthew 7:12) What God wants is the mercy "If you had known what this means, I want mercy and not sacrifice, you wouldn’t have condemned the innocent" (Matthew 12:7) Jesus commanded to forgive seventy times seven: "Then Peter came and said: Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Till seven? Jesus said: I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven" (Matthew 18 :21-22) Jesus speaks to the pharisees about the Law "When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had left the Sadducees speechless, they met together. One of them, a legal expert, tested him. Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the Law? He replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands” (Matthew 22:34-40) Jesus teaches to a rich man, the precepts of the Law "And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honor thy father and mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. The young man saith unto him, All these things have I observed: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell that which thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sorrowful; for he was one that had great possessions" (Matthew 19:16-22) These are the commandments of the Gospel, which are very different to the commandments of the Old Testament, for all the commandments of the Gospel are merciful, but many Old Testament commandments commands death sentences, wars and slavery.
  2. Hello OneLight. The Gospel was announced since ancient, as say the scriptures: "Moreover, brethren, I would not have ye ignorant of how all of our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, and all were baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea. And all ate the same spiritual meat, and all drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ". (1 Corinthians 10:1-4) "For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?......... For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it". (Hebrews 3:16 - 4:2) "And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?" (Romans 10:15-16) Jesucristo in the Gospel teached us the true Law which was given to Moses. And you can see in the Gospel that Jesus Christ abolished many commandments of the Old Testament, as the precepts of practice "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth", the precepts of killing people by stoning, to make wars, and all precepts who sent men to hurt or kill people. You can see Matthew 5:21-48, John 8:1-11 and the whole context of the Gospel, which teaches us to be merciful and forgiving.
  3. The law that Jesus came not to abolish is the Law of the Gospel "Think not that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets ... " (Matthew 5:17-20) . In these words are based many to tell us that Jesus Christ came not to abolish many commandments of the Old Testament, but that is a mistake because these gospel words do not refer to the law of the Old Testament, because Jesus Christ abolished many commandments of the Old Testament , as we see in Matthew 5:21-48 and other parts of the Gospel. The words of Jesus Christ in this famous verse (Matthew 5:17), which tells us that He did not come to abolish the Law and the Prophets, refers to the true Law of God, which is the Law that Jesus Christ himself taught us in the Gospel. Jesus Christ teaches that the law and the prophets that He did not come to abolish is the following: "All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you , do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." (Matthew 7:12) . Therefore, this is the law that God gave to Israel because Jesus Christ himself says that "this is the law and the prophets". This is the law that remains in effect, that Jesus Christ came not to abolish ("Think not that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets"). And of this law did pass "not one jot not one tittle", of the Law that Jesus Christ teaches us in the Gospel and that is the true Law that God gave to Moses.
  4. Hello nebula. The prophet Jeremiah said this: " ... My people know not the judgment of Yahweh. How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us ? Certainly has changed into a lie the lying pen of the scribes" (Jeremiah 8:7-9) . Jeremiah says nothing of the oral law. Jeremiah refers to the written law, because Jeremiah talk about the lying pen of the scribes.
  5. The Word Of God For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matthew 5:18 Straight From The Law Man In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. Romans 2:16 ~ Thank You Beloved For Standing For Truth Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Psalms 119:160 Be Blessed Love, Your Brother Joe Thanks for your answer. The Act wich would not pass one jot or tittle, and that was given forever, is the law of Jesus Christ, because He himself tells us that this is the Law and the Prophets: "All things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you , do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." (Matthew 7:12)
  6. I'm not sure that you are using the term "abolished" correctly. Well if you're not sure if I'm using it right, you must appeal to the Gospel, because I just say what the Gospel says. <<< See and >>>
  7. You forget these commandments: The Law of God taught by Jesus Christ "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets" (Matthew 7:12) What God wants is the mercy "If you had known what this means, I want mercy and not sacrifice, you wouldn’t have condemned the innocent" (Matthew 12:7) Jesus commanded to forgive seventy times seven: "Then Peter came and said: Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Till seven? Jesus said: I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven." (Matthew 18 :21-22) Jesus speaks to the pharisees about the Law When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had left the Sadducees speechless, they met together. All the commandments of the Old Testament that bear no mercy were abolished by Jesus Christ.
  8. That commandment "is the great and first commandment", but not all the Law that Jesus Christ commands us in the Gospel ... Now I put the commandments of Jesus Christ: The Law of God taught by Jesus Christ "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets" (Matthew 7:12) What God wants is the mercy "If you had known what this means, I want mercy and not sacrifice, you wouldn’t have condemned the innocent" (Matthew 12:7) Jesus commanded to forgive seventy times seven: "Then Peter came and said: Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Till seven? Jesus said: I tell you, not seven times, but seventy times seven." (Matthew 18 :21-22) Jesus speaks to the pharisees about the Law When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had left the Sadducees speechless, they met together. All the commandments of the Old Testament that bear no mercy were abolished by Jesus Christ.
  9. Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: The Mosaic covenant and law were given by God, but after the years and centuries, the prophets tell us that the scribes changed the law of God. So tell us the prophets: " ... My people know not the judgment of Yahweh. How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us ? Certainly has changed into a lie the lying pen of the scribes" (Jeremiah 8:7-9) . "Woe to those who give wicked laws and scribes who write tyrannical prescriptions to set aside the poor and violate the rights of the underdog of my people, to rob widows and orphans" (Isaiah 10.1 -2) "And the land is defiled under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, changed the commandments, broken the everlasting covenant" (Isaiah 24:5-6). "He says, therefore, the Lord : Because this people draw near me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me, and their fear of me is a commandment of men which have been taught" (Isaiah 29.13). And Jesus Christ, remembering the words of the prophet Isaiah, also told the scribes and Pharisees who were teaching the commandments of men : "Hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, This people honors me with their lips; But their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, Teaching for doctrines commandments of men" (Matthew 15.7-9 Dear friend, this is what happened, what the prophets tell us: that God's law was changed by the scribes. This is for what the Old Testament Law is direrent to the commandments of Jesus Christ.
  10. It's really simple... Love God and love people. Matthew 22:36-40 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” That commandment "is the great and first commandment", but not all the Law that Jesus Christ commands us in the Gospel ... All the commandments of the Old Testament that bear no mercy were abolished by Jesus Christ.
  11. The OT, the NT, and the Gospel are all the same thing - pointing to God's Glory, Jesus Christ as Messiah, and God's story of redemption of mankind. You say that all the commandments for you is the same, but Jesus Christ abolished many precepts of the Old Testament, precepts that were contrary to the precepts of the Gospel. Jesus abolished many commandments of the Old Testament because they were not God's law. The Gospel says : "It was also said, 'Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce . Nevertheless I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for the cause of prostitution , makes her commit adultery , and whoever marries a divorced , commits adultery" (Matthew 5 : 31-32) The jews of that time wrote in the law of the Old Testament that could separated from women for many reasons when they tired of them, but Jesus abolished these commandments . These commandments were written into the Old Testament and Jesus Christ abolished them. "Again you have heard that it was said by them of old not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord. Nevertheless I tell you, Do not swear at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for is the footstool of his feet, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because you can not do a single white or black hair. But let your ' Yes, yes, no, no, because what is more than these cometh of evil" (Matthew 5: 33-37) The Jews were accustomed to swear in many cases , and so wrote it in the laws of the Old Testament ... The Lord abolished these precepts of the oaths. The law of retaliation ("Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth") ABOLISHED BY JESUS CHRIST "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also, and whosoever want to get to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your coat also, and whosoever shall compel thee to go one mile, go with him twain. Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away" (Matthew 5: 27-30) The Jews were in the habit of applying the talionis law (law of revenge) in their judgments (eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn ... and so on.), And so they wrote it in the laws of the old Testament (Exodus 21:24-25). The Lord abolished this law of "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" because it was a law that did not included forgiveness or mercy. "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you .... " (Matthew 5: 43-44) The Jews, often beheaded or hanged his enemies, and not only to them, but then, as says the laws of the Old Testament, entered the conquered peoples and in many cases children and women were slaughtered... Jesus Christ abolished these Old Testament laws and commands us to love our enemies. Other Old Testament laws abolished by Jesus Christ: "If a man commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be dead". (Leviticus 20:10) "And the daughter of any priest, if she fornicate, dishonor his father; she shall be burnt with fire" (Leviticus 21:9 That Is not what Jesus did with the adulterous woman in the Gospel Example: "And the scribes and the Pharisees bring a woman taken in adultery; and having set her in the midst, they say unto him, Teacher, this woman hath been taken in adultery, in the very act. Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such: what then sayest thou of her? And this they said, trying him, that they might have whereof to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground. But when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground. And they, when they heard it, went out one by one, beginning from the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst. And Jesus lifted up himself, and said unto her, Woman, where are they? did no man condemn thee? And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said, Neither do I condemn thee: go thy way; from henceforth sin no more. Again therefore Jesus spake unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life". (Juan 8:3-12) With this teaching, Jesus abolished the Old Testament commandments that ordered kill people for various reasons. So far we have collected some examples of Old Testament commandments that Jesus abolished, but the argument that Jesus had with the Jews because of the law, is much broader and at this discussion is devoted a large part of the Gospel. Jesus taught us the true law of God. Quotes from the scriptures that tell us that God's law was changed and that Jesus Christ abolished many laws of the Old Testament and taught us the true law and true commandments of God: Isaiah 29:13, Jeremiah 8:7-8, Matthew 15 :7-9, Matthew 5:21-48, Matthew 7:12, Matthew 12:7, Matthew 19:16-22, Matthew 22:34-40, John 5:16-18, John 8: 1-11; Acts 15, Galatians 5, Hebrews 7 and 8.
  12. All this religious filosophy is very extended, but Jesus Christ gave his life to teach us the true Law and the true commandments of God, Law and commandments which many wants forget. We, for love to Jesus Christ, come back to remember these commandments: The Law of God taught by Jesus Christ "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets" (Matthew 7:12) Jesus teaches to a rich man, the precepts of the Law "And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said unto him, If thou wouldest be perfect, go, sell that which thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. 13. "His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as he gave us commandment." 1 John How you see, Jesus Christ gave us his commandments. And the Jesus Christ's commandments are what the christians must follow. "the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ". The true Law of God "was our tutor", but the Old Testament's law was changed by the scribas, and Jesus Christ abolished it. Now the true Law are the commandments of the Gospel. The Gospel is the true Law which received Moses. "But after faith has come, we no longer need a tutor" The faith in Jesus Christ say us we must comply with the commandments of the Gospel: The Law of God taught by Jesus Christ "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets" (Matthew 7:12) Jesus teaches to a rich man, the precepts of the Law "And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? The Grace and the faith in Jesus Christ is complay with his commandments.
  14. Hello, my friend kwikphilly. God is the same , He don't changes. The true law of God is always the same , no changes. And the true Law of God given from the beginning and does not change is the law that Jesus Christ teaches us in the Gospel. Everything what is different in the Old Testament , Jesus Christ abolished , as we see in Matthew 5:21-48 and elsewhere in the Gospel. The Jews in times of Jesus Christ don't lived the true law of God , because the Old Testament law no longer kept the true Law of God. The death sentences and slavery imposed by Jews, laws that God had not commanded, were abolished by Jesus Christ. Jesus came to teach the true law of God , but many Jews did not respected the teaching of Jesus Christ, and then persecuted Jesus. Christians are under the Law, and have Law, and the law they have is the Law that Jesus teaches us in the Gospel (Matthew 7:12).
  15. Jesus abolished many commandments of the Old Testament because they were not God's law. The Gospel says : "It was also said, 'Whoever divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce .
