Yes I could read the bible more, but listening to what others have to say is almost as good too.

It's actually no where near as good.   When you read the word, the Holy Spirit puts things into your sub conscious that will affect your whole life......     It is part of having a close relationship with the Lord.

Going to church and being with others is a good add on, but you need everything out of the word to be well rounded for the spiritual fight going on around you.

I didn't mean one or the other, I completely agree with what you are saying =)

  2. Might I make a suggestion....   if you don't know what Sodom and Gomorrah are, it seems to me that you're not that familiar with the bible.

I would just make a suggestion that you need to read the entire Bible to get the insight on your question.  That way you won't have to sort through all the different people's ideas and you can get it directly from the Lord himself...    I can promise that you will learn many more important things beyond the answer to your question.

I will answer your question simply by saying Yes it is a sin.......   and you will find why in your reading of the word.

Yes I could read the bible more, but listening to what others have to say is almost as good too.

If the bible was enough for us, then why would we go to church? Socialise with other Christians? Because we need other people's understandings of the bible too =)

Even if I HAD read about Sodom and Gomorrah before posting this question, I still would have asked it!

  3. It will happen this year, or next, or the year after, or the year after that, etc.  It will happen when it's supposed to, maybe all of us here will still be alive when that happens, but I know the world isn't getting any better right now.  The greatest, freest and most just nation the world has ever seen is being destroyed from within.  Is it to make room for the antichrist and Lucifer's plans?

Torture, rape, barbarism, cannibalism, tyranny, terror, lawlessness, murder, all are happening everywhere, there's no end to the bloodshed.  Matricide, Patricide, Fratricide, Genocide, etc.

We have torture and drug/human trafficking, and lawlessness in South America, North America, and Europe, torture, genocide, tyranny in the ME, starvation and genocide in Africa, tyranny in Asia, the only continent that seems relatively tame is Australia.

Where is there peace?  Wherever man's footsteps touch the earth, despair and evil takes root.

If we are nothing but animals as the darwinists believe, why keep up the farce of a zoo, where the predators are locked away from the prey, open the cages, let the animals roam free.  Why pretend society means anything?  No one wants to live in peace.  People want to kill, and take from each other, people want to hate for superficial and meaningless reasons.

What bastion of love and peace exists here?  It existed for a time, yet people who believe themselves wiser than human nature continue to ignore our evil nature and set to put wicked, and very flawed people in authority over them.  Yet, even when the Prince of Peace was here, the world didn't have room for Him, the world's answer was to torture and kill Him.  The world doesn't want peace and we are deluded if we believe it can ever exist by our hands.

I believe the time is close at hand, there's too much evil in the world, it doesn't have enough room for us.

You sir, have posted the most insightful post on this thread so far.

  4. Please no-one start being judgemental on this thread =/

Try to understand why everyone posts what they post, instead of accusing them of thinking wrong =) Keep all things in mind - I'm not saying you can't have other opinions, share your opinions! But they are opinions, what we individually think and do not know.

So bare that in mind before criticising someone for a post they've made =)

Understanding each other is key! Or at least trying to!

  5. I believe it will. I am not ready. I'm so ashamed but I still want him to come so I can get out of the world, and my brothers and sisters with me, to a better place.

But that is the point of Jesus coming; we are not meant to be ready =) In fact, in a way, us being ready for his coming is us being sinful and ashamed of ourselves, as this is what he will come to fix.

  6. I don't see why would it be a sin, it's not a choice, people are born homosexual. So if god created them homosexual, that must be for a purpose I guess. Could be because homosexuals can't reproduce and our earth is getting overpopulated rapidly, so that could be a god's mechanism of population control.

Now that, is a very interesting point! But from I've seen in the bible (especially the reference made earlier about the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah), committing acts of homosexuality is a sin.

But we should keep our minds open to all possible reasons, so don't think I'm discarding your idea =)

  7. Blessings joel

Welcome to Worthy,I think you have been given adequate referrance to Scripture concerning the matter of homosexuality but I would like to add(contrary to what others may think).Having the attraction to someone of the same sex is not the same as being "attracted to someone of the opposite sex" and I do believe that in itself is sinful because it is "lusting " after the flesh.....Gods Word tells us that lusting after another mans wife is the sin even without acting upon thjs temptation,why-because the act is in the heart & it is a sin to commit adultery.........being attracted to the opposite sex is not necessarily "lusting"after for sexual intention but if a person is attracted to someone of the same sex then what is their intention? They are "lusting" in their heart for something that God says is an abomination in His eyes........yes,it is a sin

As far as "not liking" homosexuals.....that is not right either,we are to love one another and hate the sin ,not the sinner.....we are not all "bad" in the eyes of God once we place our sin under the Blood of Christ.....we are reconciled back to our Father & made Worthy,spotless,sinless..........no matter what we did prior to Confessing Christ as our Lord & Savior! God bless you & Glory to God!

                                                                                                                        With love,in Christ-Kwik

I half agree with you Kwik, but I believe that the natural attraction to the same sex is not the person's fault necessarily, so I don't think this is the sin. Instead, I believe that the actions of homosexuality is the sin, as this is not being willing to change and is giving in to the temptation. The acting upon it is the only part of the whole situation that IS the person's choice, not the natural and instinctive attraction.

That theory just feels like the fairest way to me, what do you think about it?

Also, is lusting after flesh (as you put it) really always a sin? I can understand that lusting obsessively is sinful, but having the occasional and almost uncontrollable "tug" towards someone you see shouldn't be a sin surely? Obviously with the exception of having a relationship with someone different to who you are lusting over, or lusting about someone who is already in a relationship.

But as Butero said, at what point does attraction become a sin?

  8. Thanks Shiloh for that insightful view, just what I was looking for =)

Bopeep I have indeed read the bible, I think it's a little unfair that you judge me on that; the bible has hundreds of events so you can't really expect me to know about them all.

I do on the other hand openly admit that I do not read the bible as much as I should, which is probably true to us all, no matter how much we read the bible.

  9. I've been in multiple debates recently about God and homosexuality, I want to get more people thinking about it and want to know about other people's thoughts.

Is the psychology of it (having the attraction towards the same sex) a sin in itself? Is just the acting upon the attraction the sin? Or is none of it a sin at all?

Another point, is that some non-Christians accuse Christians of not liking homosexuals and thinking of them as bad people. This really annoys me, how people can so easily generalise us. I myself do not understand or agree with homosexuality...but that doesn't mean I think homosexuals are bad people! We are ALL bad in the eyes of God.

What say you on these matters? =)

  10. One day Stevo; an aeroplane cleaner was cleaning the pilots' cockpit when he saw a book entitled "How to fly an aeroplane for beginners. Volume One".

He opened the first page which said, "To start the engine, press the red button.". He did so and the airplane engine started.

He was happy and opened the next page. "To set airplane moving press the blue button." He did so and the aeroplane started moving at an amazing speed.

He wanted to fly so he opened the third page which read, "To let the aeroplane fly, please press the green button." He did this and the plane started to fly.

He was excited!!!!!! After 20 minutes of flying, he was satisfied and wanted to land so he decided to go to the fourth page. He fainted after reading the instructions...

    Guess wht he saw????
