  1. Looking for verses that tell us about our relationship with those around us.
  2. I know this is a big one. Maybe thousands of verses but I'm looking for what you think may be the best 3 or 4 verses about it.
  3. It may be safer than going to the bank.
  4. What are some verses that talk about dealing with our families?
  5. If you are not sure that you have been saved, then you more than likely haven't been. If you have been saved, you would know it. Just saying at some point in your life that you want to be a Christian doesn't make you one. Like others have said, you really haven't given enough information and only you can really know the answer to this. We can only help guide you through The Word and the Holy Spirit. Believe me, you do want to go to Heaven. The only other option is Hell which is not where you want to be.
  6. What are some verses that talk about how our faith should be?
  7. Yes, I'm thinking in general terms. I'm not sure but I thought it said something about balancing it out. Kind of like work and rest.
  8. Any type of entertainment. Sports, Concerts, Boating, County Fairs, etc. I'm not saying individually, but being entertained.
  9. What are some verses that tell us about our entertainment?
  10. The Bible doesn't say anything about manatees either but they exist even though I've never seen one.
  11. Looking for verses that deal with education. Not necessarily Biblical education, but any education.
  12. May be a touchy subject but it's next on my list.
  13. I am currently unemployed (apart from temporary work which I get occasionally). I'm hoping that Paul's words don't actually mean that. I think it means those who refuse to work, not those who want to work but are struggling to find employment. You are exactly right. We can work. I spent 4 years basically "out of work" but I spent a lot of time actually working. Even when I was drawing unemployment I was doing some kind of work. Example, my in-laws needed some help working in their garden. I eat from their table a lot. I was happy to send the day helping them in their garden. I've always been willing to work, sometimes I just couldn't find a paying job.
  14. Don't rely on the government for anything. "He who does not work should not eat." Which reminds me, I have a honey do list I need to get back to or I won't eat tonight!
  15. Then the baptism wasn't real. That isn't the truth. You are right when you say we experience a changed hart at salvation---before baptism. But it isn't always obvious in behaviour until after baptism when spiritual growth and fruit is observed. Maybe I misunderstood. I read it as they didn't have salvation until after the baptism. In that case, the baptism wasn't real. But going back and reading it again, you may be right.
  16. There's actually quite a bit about money and debt in the Bible. What in particular are you interested in discussing? Here's a sample about debt. Exodus 22:14 If a man borrows anything from his neighbor, and it is injured or dies while its owner is not with it, he shall make full restitution. 2 Kings 4:7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt, and you and your sons can live on the rest.” Psalm 37:21 The wicked borrows and does not pay back, but the righteous is gracious and gives. Psalm 112:5 It is well with the man who is gracious and lends; he will maintain his cause in judgment. Proverbs 22:7 The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower becomes the lender’s slave. Proverbs 22:26-27 Do not be a man who strikes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts; if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you. Ecclesiastes 5:5 It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay. Matthew 5:42 Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you. Luke 6:35 But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. Romans 13:8 Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. God bless, GE Thank you. These were helpful.
  17. It's not when you start changing. It's when you got saved.
  18. Yes, but Jesus told us to be baptized and if we refuse when we have had the change, I would think it would be a definate example of us not having him as our Lord for we were not following his requests/demands. So do you think that people who do not read the Bible every day or at least on a regular bases is an example of not having Him as Lord?
  19. Also keep in mind, the word "baptize" comes from the Greek word baptizo which means to be totally immersed. By itself it has no meaning with water. You can be baptized in the Holy Spirit, in water, in fire, your work, or whatever. So, each time Jesus uses the word baptize, or baptizo, he isn't necessarily talking about with water.
  20. Being born of water is the natural birth. When you are born from your mother. When you are born of "spirit" is when you accept Christ.
  21. I know this may open up a huge discussion but I'm looking for some verses dealing with discipline. Not necessarily punishment. I know people get those confused.
  22. I feel very sorry for them. We are all sinners but they are the ones who will be spending eternity in hell.
