  1. I think it is highly interesting that the movie Left Behind comes out on Yom Kippur. (Oct 3) Yom Kippur, or the "Day of Atonement," is the holiest day of the Jewish year, and provides prophetic insight regarding the Second Coming of the Messiah, the restoration of national Israel, and the final judgment of the world. It is also a day that reveals the High-Priestly work of Yeshua as our Kohen Gadol (High Priest) after the order of Malki-Tzedek (Heb. 5:10, 6:20) http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Holidays/Fall_Holidays/Yom_Kippur/yom_kippur.html
  2. Just wondering what everyone's opinion is on Nicholas Cage playing Rayford in the new Left Behind movie. I really love the original Left Behind with Kirk Cameron. I have heard the pros and cons of Nicholas Cage playing in this movie. I heard him on an interview saying that his brother is a Pastor. Some say they don't want to watch the movie because he is in it and they don't believe he is a Christian. Some say that even though he is not a Christian that God can still use him to reach people in this movie. I personally am looking forward to going to see this movie in the theater. I am not particularly thrilled about Nicholas Cage being in the movie however I really want to go see this movie.
  3. Just some of my thoughts about some of these parables: The Great Feast: "…servants go to dangerous areas…" Reminds me of present day missionaries who are in dangerous countries witnessing for Christ & bringing the gospel of Christ to people. The wise and foolish virgins: Be ready in your Christian life, don't procrastinate & put off til tomorrow. Good Samaritan: I think in a way it's to convict or reprimand the Christian. To show them that the Christian doesn't always do what he should, and that sometimes the outcasts in life are there to do what needs to be done and to teach us. There are so many good parables and we can learn from all of them. I think at one point or another in our lives these parables apply to us and what we've been through in our lives.
  4. Shiloh357 ---I agree with you
  5. Aside from being circumcised & keeping the Law of Moses, I believe the person was talking about works in our day & age. Like maybe sharing your faith, keeping the commandments, trying to live like Jesus would want us to, helping our neighbor, acknowledging our faith & Jesus to the world. I understand that we are saved by grace, and that works naturally follows. But I believe the person was saying that if we are saved by grace only, we're not going to heaven. Also, the person said that Jesus was not only saved by grace alone, that he did works like preaching that made his salvation by grace complete & without his works(preaching), his salvation by grace equaled back to nothing. My comment is Jesus didn't even need to be saved, He is the Son of God, part of the Godhead, Trinity, He also helped create the world. I disagree with the person's comment that Jesus was not just saved by grace only, that he also did works. I'm not disagreeing that Jesus did works, just that he didn't need to be saved. He's part of the Godhead. I disagree with the person'a initial question & explanation because I feel they were demeaning the saved by grace & negating it.
  6. The same person who asked the question also commented that Jesus wasn't just saved by grace only. My silent response to that (because it wasn't my conversation. The person was talking to someone else.): ---Jesus didn't need to be saved at all. He's the Son of God. He died to save us.

    Melchizedek

Thank you all for the discussion. It was interesting.
  8. What would you think if a person asked you this question?: Are you saved by grace only? Or saved by grace plus works? What would your answer be?

    Melchizedek

Please understand my plight here. I must reconcile all scripture to accept beliefs of things. This verse says very plainly that Melchizedek had no father or mother or family tree. No beginning of days or end of life. When Abraham was 58 years old Noah died. Noah was Shems father, Shem was still alive when Abraham died, and lived 35 years longer than Abraham, but he did die. He also has a family tree back to Adam himself. I simply can not accept that Melchizedek could be Shem with that many parts of his description being so off. Please understand my plight here. I think I would have to agree that it's not Shem. Shem had father, mother, genealogy, plus he died.

    Melchizedek

Was reading in Hebrews 7. Who was Melchizedek? Was he Jesus or a separate individual? 7 This Melchizedek was king of Salem and priest of God Most High. He met Abraham returning from the defeat of the kings and blessed him, 2 and Abraham gave him a tenth of everything. First, the name Melchizedek means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.” 3 Without father or mother, without genealogy, without beginning of days or end of life, resembling the Son of God, he remains a priest forever.
  11. I'm still learning which boards to post certain topics to. Please forgive me if this is not on the correct board. I ran across this post from Hebrew for Christians. It meant a little something to me because August 25 is my last week of work. I am looking forward to getting my Bible reading, Bible study, Scripture memory, prayer life back in order. I really liked this article because it talks about a whole month setting aside to get our spiritual house back in order. ----"The month of Elul is therefore a time set aside each year to prepare for the Yamim Nora'im, the "Days of Awe," by getting our spiritual house in order." http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Scripture/Parashah/parashah.html
  12. True Mormonism does teach about how to become a god.
  13. I just started reading Pilgrim's Progress. I found a study guide for it @ bunyanministries. Was reading in the study guide that John Bunyan ministered during a tumultuous period that included monarchial tyranny, civil war, fire, plague & intense conflict between establishment religion & zealous Puritanism. Joseph Smith grew up in some of the similar religious unrest or questionings. I find it interesting that John Bunyan wrote Pilgrim's Progress, a book that is very closely aligned to the Bible. However, Joseph Smith said that he was told that none of the religions was correct. That they were all false. And he wrote The Book of Mormon, which is not closely aligned to the Bible. Just wanted to post my observations.
  14. I find the KJV hard to understand at times, so I prefer NIV. I also like Amplified version because it gives the explanation of a word in parenthesis. My husband prefers KJV & NKJV.
