    The word 'olam'

Punctuation in Luke 23:43! There was no punctuation in the original text. The subject of time and punctuation are both HUGE and can easily be distorted. That is the million dollar question shiloh. As you stated here.... The sentences that pop out of your statement here are.. 1. olam means different things depending on the context 2. Hebrew words play double, triple, quadruple duty, etc. 3. One word in Hebrew can have as many as 18 different usages depending on the context in which it appears. 4. Olam means "forever" in terms of this present age. In some contexts, olam simply means until the end of someone's life. These are four major factors at play here. So how do we know how to translate the subject of time in regards to hell when these four factors are in the way.
  2. Absolutely. The soul along with the body will be risen at the first resurrection.

Exactly!! So basically it all comes down to beliefs. We won't really know if hell is forever until we die and ask the Lord ourselves. Am I close?

But the fact is, is that it was translated in the first place. Translations in general cloud scripture, especially when finding answers in difficult passages, like hell. This is exactly what I mean. It's not exactly the same because flawed men took the original text and translated scripture into their own language. For example, certain words in the Hebrew dictionary do not exist in the Greek dictionaries..so they choose whatever word is similar.
  5. Some think this scripture is speaking about Jesus taking the believers that are in the third heaven already, proving soul sleep is false.

Hey Butch. But since Hebrew is the original language of the Bible, then wouldn't the Greek translation also be at fault. - ds But these people with wisdom and knowledge that translate the Bible, are flawed men. Similar to adding punctuation in Luke 23:43 for example.

Isa 60:19-20 is not a reference about hell. Please provide scripture that relates olam to eternal in reference to hell. - ds Do you obtain a degree at the present time. - ds
  8. 'And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.' The Bible speaks about a first heaven (earth's atmosphere), second heaven (outer space) and a third heaven (where God and His angels dwell). I believe Matt 24:31 is speaking of the first heaven because it's a rapture scripture, unless you think otherwise.
  9. Since 'olam' doesn't mean forever and is a Hebrew word, and 'everlasting' and 'eternal' are English translations, then wouldn't hell be temporary since English translations can be wrong. Also, why is it ok to use the word 'olam' when describing hell, but it's ok to use the words 'everlasting' and 'eternal' when describing eternal life.
  10. Was this Samuel or a demon that rose up from the grave. 1 Sam 28:15 Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?”
  11. Salvation is (by) His Grace and (through) our faith in which we are saved. Praise Him, Glory to Him! In Christ Jesus. What words, thoughts pop in your mind with the salvation word. - ds
