  1. I do not believe in "many paths". That is the problem. A lot of people approach the Bible like it is a do it your kit. What ever you get out of it is OK. I don't do it because Jesus did it, I was baptized because that is what the Word of God teaches. And how or what we do is very important. To many christians and church's do things the way they want to. If the Bible says to do something a certain way, then I think we need to obey the words of our Lord. 37

  3. He could be the one for you. That is not my place to say, but if he is it sounds like he has a lot of healing he needs to go through. Only Jesus can do that and with emotional healing it almost never happens fast. I am the head of my household, my wife is very submitted. I love her like Christ loves the church. I would lay down my life for her in a heartbeat. I almost never "put my foot down" on subject. Maybe less then 10% of the time if that. Even then she will pray and ends up coming back to say she is sorry. (I am the most blessed man on this planet.) We talk and pray about most important things in our lives. I have an illustration if you don't mind me sharing. I think it will make the subject of submission more clear. Marriage is like driving a car. The husband is driving. He is in control, of the speed, direction, when and if to use the brakes. I think you get the picture. The wife is the passenger. Now when I drive my wife and I talk all the time. I am in control of the car, but she also has her eyes out for danger. She helps me with directions and other things. Now if she tells me to turn and I say no I know what I am doing, that is ok if I say it the right way. But if I do that and then I find out I was wrong, it is my place to tell her that I am sorry and she was right. I have no problem with that. Sometimes I submit to her in areas that she knows more than me. I she feels something in the Spirit, I will listen and pray for direction from the Lord. Now what if she tells me to turn, and I say no I know what I am doing. She then reaches over a jerks the wheel from me. We are in trouble. What if she says I am going to fast, so she hits the E-brake, or slams the car into park. Again we are in trouble. I know I don't know your whole story, and I am not your pastor, but it sounds to me like this guy is the driver and he wants you either on the hood or in the trunk. Please be very careful. Next to the Holy Ghost, marriage can be the greatest blessing on this Earth. Or it can drag you to Hell.
  4. Right now I am listening to the book of Acts on CD while at work. My church is also doing a weekly class on the book of Romans. I think reading the Bible is a little like going to the best restaurant in the world. You may like a lots of there dishes, but each time you could be in the mood for something different. But it is all good when you are talking about the Word of God!
  5. My pastor has preached about the revival that the Lord will bring. He also said in that influx of new christians, that many would come in and pass brothers and sisters that have been in the church for years and decades. Time does play a part in it, but it is more about our hunger for the Lord, His presence, His will and His Word! It is our choice how far we go with the Lord and in the Lord.
  6. Oooooohh, short hand. Now I get it. Thanks.
  7. I just have one question for you Tess? What is ppl? "Sometimes I think ppl get off-balance in their beliefs....too critical." Maybe I missed something about what it stands for? Thanks in advance for letting me in the loop.
  8. I personally like to use the KJV. It is not the only one I use, but it is the one I memorize from and the one I preach from, most of the time. I also like to look at the Amplified Version. On a personal level, I do not like the paraphrase Bibles much. Some people in my church have the message and seem to like it a lot. I have not read it and do not plan on it. I think one of the problems with this country is that we, on a whole, are getting dumber and less educated. The side effect for the church is we need to have Bible translations that are easier to understand.
  9. I know that there are some that Oneness Pentecostals recommend, but what about the Trinitarians here? Do any of you know about any debates? And if so do you know where I can hear them? Thanks in advance for the 411.
  10. I am not sure what to think at this point, but I will keep both of my eyes open, as I always try to do. I will get back to you if I see anything. I am not reading the book, and I think that we are only listening to the tapes on night a month. Again thank you for the heads up.
  11. I read over chapter four at my sister in-laws house and it had a lot of quates and illustrations, but I did not see anything wrong with it.
  12. My prayer group just listen to the first three lesson/chapters on tape last night. I did not hear anything wrong. I thought it was very simple. I think so far that it might be something to get someone who knows nothing about the Bible or God to show a little interest. They may be more open to this then a Bible study or a church service.
  13. I don't know that much. But I love to talk to people about religion. I you good enough friends with the person to bring the subject up. I would just say that you have heard of that church but don't know much about it. Then ask if they could tell you a little bit about it. Just a suggestion.
  14. WHO IS GOD? Jesus Is God Isaiah 7:14 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 9:6 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Micah 5:2 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. John 1:1, 14 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:10 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. John 8:24, 58, 59 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. 8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. John 14:6-11 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 14:8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. 2 Corinthians 5:19 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 1 Timothy 3:16 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
  15. Has anyone here even listen to a Oneness/Triniy Debate. If you have please let me know. Also if it is avalible online I would love to know where. Do any of you have a favorite teacher of the Trinity, that you have heard before? I like to listen to other peoples view of the subject? I try not to be closed minded on things. Thank you in advance for your responses.
  16. By the way I was traveiling over the state boarder from MA to CT at the time.
  17. I can't explain it, but I have seen that happen only once in my life. It was right around Christmas, and we where have heavy snow fall, then the sky started to light up all over with lightning. It was so cool. All I can say is the our God is an awesome God!
  18. Your welcome. Glad I could be of help.
  19. I am really blessed of God by the church I attend. My pastor has a program called the "School of Ministry" The School of Ministry is designed for those among us who feel led of God to prepare for the possibility of a more formal or public ministry. In many cases when people feel led in this manner God is wanting to develop them, but it is not immediately clear as to where and when. The School of Ministry is program designed to help the student submit to the direction of Bishop Hanson as they pursue this dimension of personal development. It is a three-stage series of self-paced assignments, readings, tests and accountability sessions that will help people determine where God wants them to be involved in ministry. Ultimately, should the Bishop and student both agree that God is leading the student to pursue a license to preach, the completion of this course will have prepared them for that major step. Not all who participate in the program will be preachers, neither will they be automatically licensed upon completion of the course. The School of Ministry program is only required for those who are seeking to be licensed ministers. Please see Bishop Hanson for additional information. I have learned so much in the SoM (School of Ministry), but even more importantly I have grown in my walk with the Lord. I had felt a call on my life for many years before joining the SoM, but never understood or believed that God would be calling me to the ministry. Talk to your pastor about the subject. God has put a man in authority over each and every one of us for a reason. God will bless you for submisson to His authority. A very good book that helped me a lot was "For Preachers Only" by J.T. Pugh. The first chapter is "The Preacher's Call". It is published by Word Aflame Publishing. If you get it, please let me know what you think. God Luck.
  20. My wife and I have not read the books, but we have listened to the first 11 books on the audio drama series. They are the bomb! They have voice actors play all the parts with sound effects just like the old time radio shows. You will laugh, cry, scream and be glued to the edge of your seats. Each book is about 5 hours long. They are broken down into 24 min. chapters. We just ordered #12 this week and can't wait for them to come in. You can listen to them for free online. Just go to www.oneplace.com then search under the different shows. Just look for left behind.
  21. I am a born again christian, pentecostal to be exact. I am filled with the Spirit of God, and I have spoken in tongues on a regular bases. I feel that when I invite Jesus to come into a service or prayer meeting it is more of a submission thing, I am surrendering my will for His will in the service. I want a meeting that is pleasing to God and not just what I want for myself. Also when I ask for His Spirit to come into a service I feel that this is appropriate, even though I have Him in my heart. I think it is less a matter of God coming into a space that is already filled by Him, but more of putting down our flesh and opening up our reception to His presence.
