Just don't discourage anyone from walking as He walked. It will actually do more harm than Good. Jude 1:24. He is able that's all I need to know about the situation. He is able, to Him be the glory.

I know I need an advocate provided I do sin. It's possible for me to sin.

Just don't discourage anyone who believes they can walk as He walked.

So if I don't put my mind to sin I can avoid it?

You are aware that's it's not a simple question. You are aware of the answer and it's requirement for an explanation. You are making an attempt to trap me as they did with Jesus. So how about you go with the answer you want and leave it at that.

So he is using another definition of sin? When he says "but if any man sins"?

    Read my statement again.

But you told me it was habitual sin.

So in 1 John 2: 1 it's better translated. "If any man practices sin we have an advocate"?

If you don't believe you'll walk as He walked here on earth then you will not. It's lack of faith on you part. As for me I am convinced of the promise and ability of God. I look at Jude 1:24 and I know that He is able. I read Matthew 5:6 and I am persuaded of this promise.

You weren't using the verses in proper context.

God is more powerful than the sinful nature.

    I do read in context.

The gift is God's work in us.

Yes.You must read the scripture in context Read Galatians 5:16. Also you must understand the context of Romans 7 which Paul gives in Romans 7:1, he is speaking as one under the law of sin and death (see Romans 7:23). A Christian is not under the law of sin and death (see Romans 8: 1-2 and compare it to Romans 7:23, ask yourself which category do you fall under).

Paul there is talking about the resurrection. Question: what's more powerful your sinful nature or the power of God?
  17. Mateo

The sinless Jesus lives in the Christian by the power of the Holy Spirit. Read Romans 8:11
  18. Mateo

    Sin

It means (starting in verse 7) that if we walk in light Jesus will cleanse us from ALL sin. But if we say we have no sin to be cleansed of (verse 8) then we are a liar and the truth is not in us because all have sinED and come short of the glory of God(this is where you can use Romans 3:23). Rather than saying you have no sin to be cleansed of(like in 1 John 1:8), Confess your sins(verse 9) and Jesus Christ is faithful and just to cleanse you from ALL unrighteousness(also in verse 9 and remember verse 7). Now if you say that you have not sinED you are a liar (verse 10, also remember Romans 3:23).
  19. Mateo

Yes it's a work of God who works righteousness in us. All the more we ought to have faith that He can keep us from falling/sinning. To deny that is to deny the power and gift of God.

Why ignore the verse after 1 John 3:2?

Why does Paul say he is chief?

I don't understand why someone who calls themselves Christian would behave has you do. I think when you don't believe you can be free from sin you can freely not express the love of Christ when ever you want. Or it could be that Christ was never formed in you from the beginning. I'm still trying to figure these things out.
  23. Mateo

    Sin

In context 1 John 1:8 is to someone who doesn't agree they have sin to be cleansed of as stated in 1 John 1:7. That's why in 1 John 1:9 he gives the alternative and repeateds what he is teaching in verse 7. where in the Bible does it say a Christian has a habit of sinning daily?
  24. Mateo

    Sin

Right and he continues and says that there is no difference all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, this is talking about everyone. A factual statement to show our need for Christ. It's not saying that when you are in Christ you still sin.
