  1. It's been a while since I posted my testimonial so I thought I would do a little update.  I'm past all the influences of angel cards, readings and angel numbers etc.  Unfortunately my sister is still involved in all that kind of stuff.

I stick to reading my Bible and talking and praying to God and Jesus Christ.  I'm still a new Christian with a lot to learn but I have read nearly two thirds of the Bible now and I'm starting to remember some versus.   I read the New Testament first and I'm now reading the Old Testament.  I'm currently reading 1 Chronicles.  After I've read through the Bible once I'm going to continue on reading it through again.

    Hi Lavender,

I quite understand that it can a bit overwhelming. My suggestion is that you get a mentor who will listen & guide you in God`s word. Kwik has already kindly said you can PM her & you can PM (Private Message) me as well. You will soon see if you are getting the right help from someone.

    God bless, sis, Marilyn.

Thank you Marilyn.  I will try to do some PM.

Don't let the myriad of post and variations of interpretations bother you...Basically you need a study Bible to answer basic questions as you read. You will grow into other more in depth studies >but< above all else develop the love God has for you in prayer and obedience (as you have started doing)... you want what the Bible says not what someone thinks it says. It is work but it pays off in nearness and proper relationship with God so that you begin to see things from His perspective instead of the worlds confused and error filled one!  Prayers... Love, Steven

Thank you for your guidance Steven.  Can you recommend a really good study bible?

    How's everything going now?

Hi KPaulG.  Well things are a bit mixed.  I don't come on here often now as I end up getting quite confused by a lot of the posts.  Some others make me feel anxious.  I have posted at times trying to help people as I naturally like to do that but then I think I've done it wrong after I have posted as I haven't posted as a knowledgeable Christian.

On the positive side I have continued to read some of my bible everyday.  Not too much at once though as I don't understand a lot of it and otherwise I feel a bit dumb.  I started in the New Testament and I'm currently up to the book of Colossians.  I ask the Holy Spirit to help me understand the Bible but I don't feel anything.  However when I think about Jesus I get a feeling of love in me towards him.

I still haven't told my family that I'm a New Christian as I'm trying to learn the right things so that when I have a conversation with them I can answer their questions with the correct information.  I still have no Christian friends and I have not joined a church yet because I don't know any friendly Christians who I could go to church with in my area.  I have looked on the internet to read about churches in my area that would suit me and my two children, if they want to come and to not split them up into different groups but I don't know what one to go to.  My husband would definitely not be willing to come to church.  I also wonder how I would be accepted into a church as a married women with maybe my two children with me but no husband.  I'm also aware of the expectation of tithing at church but as I'm a stay at home mum and my husband isn't a Christian there is no way that I would be tithing the expected amount as he will only allow me to tithe a small amount of his money.  Do you or anyone else reading this know of a good church I can follow from the internet?

Anyway that's about it, sorry for the rambling post.  Thanks for asking.  God bless you.

  5. It sounds strange to me.  It would be more suitable to date someone that was from your own country that you could meet and get to know really well.  Then you would more likely have an idea of who they are as a person.  People can lie so much online.

  6. Wow, you have had some extremely tough challenges with your health and financial/ housing situation.  It is awesome to read how you were strong and held onto your faith and with God's help you overcame those challenges.  It's so nice to read that after the storm that you went through, God put you and your husband together :)

If I end up in a tough, challenging situation in the future, I'm going to remember your testimony and I will keep hoping and praying that God will help me overcome it.

    God bless you Kwik.

So...you're an animal AND a people person!  These are MAJOR gifts, Lavender.  Every being on the planet is one or the other so you're very blessed indeed.  You have the empathy, understanding and desire to help and to encourage; these are what God has bestowed upon you.  These gifts are a big deal; I personally am not an encourager and tend to be impatient but I admire people who have these abilities.  I love animals too, btw, and I know that animals do NOT relate to everyone the way you describe.  Thanks for sharing that; you put a smile on my face during a difficult day.

Sorry to hear you're having a difficult day.  Thank you for your kind and uplifting words.  Your thread is positive and encouraging of others.  It's nice to focus on the positive when we are often bombarded with negativity, especially on the news.

    God bless you MorningGlory.

Can you crochet? Are you good at math? Do you have a green thumb?  Can you relate to animals?  Can you solve puzzles faster than others?  Can you play an instrument?  Do people come to you for advice?  A gift from God may be evident to all but the giftee!

No to just about all of these.  I think I can relate to animals but Kwik is obviously talented at it  (I'm not an animal trainer or anything).  I grew up on a farm and love animals.  I especially love dogs.  This may be nothing special I don't have anything to compare it with but I might be good with shy dogs.

I rescued my late Rhodesian Ridgeback cross from the pound as a 3 months old pup who was hiding towards the back of the enclosure but when I put my hand through she went and snuggled her head into my hand.  She must have been abused as it turned out that she was terrified of men.  She got better with time and overcame this although she never liked strange men.

Another time I drove about 4 hours away, looking to adopt a dog, (she wasn't a timid dog but not social with strangers either).  I told the women that I was going to completely ignore her dog for a little while (even though I love them).  The owner sat on a couch, I sat on a different couch next to her and we just chatted away about her dog.  The dog checked me out in her own time and then decided to lie across my feet.  Apparently she didn't normally do that.

When we went and got our current small dog as a puppy a year ago, the reputable breeder told me about how she rescued the puppy's mum from a really bad situation.  Unfortunately she was quite timid with strangers as a result.  We got to meet the mum dog in her dining/ lounge area which was big.  Although the mum was shy she ended up coming up to me as I was crouched down and she put her front feet up on my legs and then she sniffed me in the face.  (I'm not sure if this was because I ate a tin of salmon within and hour of meeting her).  Anyway I don't know if these are normal things that happen to other dog lovers or not.  What does anyone think?

Otherwise some people ask me questions about stuff they want to know about which they know I have some knowledge on as I read about those topics.  If I don't know the answer I'm happy to look it up for them on the internet.

I'm not really sure how God has gifted me.  I can't think of any one particular thing that stands out.  Sometimes others can recognize our talents or gifts we have but we can't really see them in ourselves.

I agree.  I feel like I'm a talent free zone.  I have things that I'm good at but I haven't found a talent or gift that I can be of significant help to others.  I've been hoping to find this for a long time.

Let's get the hay down out of the loft and onto the barn floor, where the cows can get at it!

    Moo. :)  I like cows.

Being a New Christian I have had to use Google quite a lot to look up words that I have read on here.  Although I still don't know what half of the ones are in your list.  The terminology here is very specific and not what I have encountered outside of being a Christian.

Things that I find helpful are when people not only post a term or scripture but they add a sentence to explain what it means or what their thoughts are.  If people can give examples with everyday things/ objects/ situations that helps me.  Personal stories to illustrate what people are trying to say are also very good.

Being one of the cows I would appreciate it if some posts were easier to understand but I also understand that sometimes people don't have the time to explain things more thoroughly.  If there is a serious debate going on between members, I would understand that using terminology would be more important.

Yes that's a very good visual mental image.  I know exactly what you mean.

    God bless you Kwik.

  12. I didn't know it was spelt wrong until I put it into Google and that told me I had it wrong.  I have had plenty of University education but I'm not a great speller (my qualifications were not for English).  Thankfully computers have spell check or I'd be in trouble. :)
