  1. You have to remember that these denominations base their religion on the Bible they certainly don't hold fast to it. I personally believe that they shouldn't call themselves "christian" churches. What they have done is taken the name of well know christian churches and developed their own new religion. I think that this quote from the article is central to their belief system: "The Rev. Katrina Foster, a pastor in the Metropolitan New York Synod, pointed out that the church has ordained woman and divorced people in violation of a literal interpretation of scripture." Once you decide you no longer have to follow the Bible then you can do what ever is in your heart. Make up your own rules and lead others astray and create a new religion absent from what God says or demands. In reading the Old Testament you see this happening over and over again and always with tragic results.
  2. I know here in California they keep trying to shove it down our throats. Even our elected officials try to over rule the will of the people. The "GAY" organizations are violent and ultra confrontational. Few people have the will to stand up to them. The ones that do pay the price dearly.
  3. Do you disagree enough to split from them? We are not a part of them to split from them in the first place. What is disturbing to me is that these ultra liberal groups are not the small fringe organizations with the media is pumping them up but these are the huge mainstream groups. The largest of the denominations. Take notice because we are told that it will be like Sodom and Gomorrah.
  4. Its not all Lutheran churches. I belong to the Lutheran Missouri Synod and we don't agree with their liberal views. They also don't believe in the Bible being inerrant.
  5. I used to attend the modern churches like Calvary Chapel. It was very nice and reached out to the youth. They had sound doctrine and I could feel the Spirit working around me. The problem I had was that they were too informal. There was no membership and no one keep track of you and for the most part you could come and go at will with on one asking about you. I recently went the other way and now attend a Lutheran Church and I really like it. I am in a small group Sunday school group before church starts or after depending on which service you go too. The church service is very interactive as opposed to passive. I really like it and the church service seems to go by fast. I could go on and on but its best to just give it a try. What you want and need most is to find one that provides the opportunity to participate in small group study/fellowship. You need to be part of a small group so you can take care of each other and council and support one another. This is why Jesus choose 12 to follow him. Apply the lesson...
  6. Idleness will increase your meditation on your sorrows. You need to snap out of it and be happy and joyful in all things. I am going through some legal trials myself and not getting too much sleep so I know this is a lot easier said then done. My suggestion is get busy. Make a daily schedule out. Start cleaning the house, washing the car etc. Become more involved in the weekly activities of your church and the churches around you. If you don't have a hobby then pick one up. And if you still need more help finding things to do than go to meetup.com and finds some groups there that interest you. Increase you bible reading and if you don't have a plan to read through the bible then pick one up and start there. Increase your prayer times also. Hope this helps... Dave <IXOYE><
  7. I know! Isn't that funny? You would think that someone who is going to purchase, and I might add not too cheep, bible software for study would like to compair various scriptures. But no, you have to select them one at a time. I could do this with my bible. I guess the work around to this is to select the scripture verse then do a cut and paste to the word processing program and go back and forth. I think its funny that I can make a scripture list and have them displayed using a FREE online bible program. I really don't see why anyone would want to purchase one of these programs for their desktop if all they do is provide an electronic version of the bible. I can just a easily flip through one of my bibles or use the more powerful and FREE online version. Biblegateway's Online Bible Check out the link above and see what I am talking about. With this online version you also have the option of having the program read (audio) the scripture verses to you or several chapters if your doing a yearly bible reading program.
  8. For anyone wanting a Bible Reference and Study Software for their computer, here is the link to a FREE one that is really powerful and full of features. With this you can enter a word and it will search the Bible and show you the scripture. Great for finding those scriptures you can't quite remember but know a few of the words it contains. Or looking for a scripture on a certain topic. Or what does the bible have to say about? Oh, and did I tell you it is FREE! E-Sword Bible Software
  9. I want to get a pocket PC so I can run E-Sword on it. It truely is a very good program and FREE. The author is a Godly man and he has all my respect. But right now I have QuickVerse and my Bible Study. I would really like to list all the verses at once and have them individually listed in the order I placed them. This doesn't sound like to me to be something novel. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would want to compair several scriptures against each other.
  10. I am starting a study program in the Old and New Testament and I would like to know if it is possible to make a list of verses and have QuickVerse seach and display all the scriptures? For each chapter in my studies I have like 30 verses to look up. I thought it sure would be a lot easier and flow better if I could enter all the verses at the beginning and as I read through the chapter and come to a verse I can have it already displayed on the screen and just look up, read it, and continue. I am very supprised that after all these years that Parsons still hasn't produced a video introduction to this program. And didn't there used to be a QuickVerse Community (discussion forum)?
  11. I think it is crazy but it is only going to get worse. Preachers are paid to preach and therefore are given a congregation. But too many copyright everything that comes out of their mouths and want $$$ for a copy of it. If the apostles were here today they would be fuming. The government publishes their material with free license. Anyone who wants can copy and redistribute it at will. Why not the Christian material. I tell you, if I were a preacher and I had a salary, that would be it. Everything I wrote or said would freely distributable. I would find great glory just knowing that others were spreading it around. It really is very sad. On a positive note there are Christians who still believe in working for the Lord and not receiving $$$ rewards. These people will surely receive their rewards in heaven. On such person is the programmer of the bible software e-sword. I recently received an e-mail from him regarding distributing his bible software and if any cost were expressed or implied (like Online Bible). Here is what he had to say: The Lord richly bless you Rick! e-sword website
  12. I was having a discussion on the Online Bible forum about the change in philosophy from one of "freely received, freely given" to "freely received, price added." Well today I went back on and the entire thread has been deleted. I was wondering how long that would take. I was expecting it. No one wants to be exposed.
  13. This isn't a different translation. Its a study bible. You can pick from several different bible versions. The version I picked for my Scofield Study Bible is NKJV. You know there are different types of bibles for various purposes. Bibles are not confined to just different versions alone. Study bibles are just a big area because they contain additional reference notes, foot notes, chain references, etc. for people who want to study the bible in depth.
  14. Just received my course materials yesterday. Read the introduction and it said that if I completed one exam every two weeks it will take me 2 1/2 years to complete the course. And here I thought it would take me less than a year. Oh boy!
  15. I saw it in my church's bookstore and it looks very similar to the Zondervan Handbook to the Bible. But for $10 I guess I will pick it up. I noticed that it comes in 2 flavors. A large print which is book size and the regular which is the small dime store paperback size. Which do you recommend?
  16. Yep, we are living in the closing times. You know I can name 3 totally free 3d software programs. And 3d programs are very, very complicated and mucho expensive. But the seculars have a cause and will devote countless hours to promote it and ask nothing in return while the "Christians" on the other hand have no bible software that isn't asking for money. I find this just incredible.
  17. When do good godly men become corrupted by this world and follow the path to money? I started with computer and joining online forums almost at the same time with the almost immediate purchase of a modem. This was mainly because I was told there was a wealth of FREE software just for the downloading. This was true and I did download a heck of a lot of free software. But it also opened up the door to forums and discussions. This was before the Internet and while confined to a local geographical area these BBS
  18. Hard to research those pages as my Scofield Study Bible is the 2002 edition.
  19. Yeah, I was on Amazon.Com and you can get the Halley's Bible Handbook and NIV version, together, for $12.
  20. Funny thing. I am reading _The Zondervan Handbook to the Bible_ which contains a 100 page bible introduction. In the theology section they mention "Covenant interpretation" but nothing on dispensationalism.
  21. Well, I am very excited; I received my Scofield Study Bible Friday and it came with a CD. The CD resources utilize the Libronix (Logos) library system. Previously I had _The J. Vernon McGee Electronic Bible Study Library_ (best buy yet) which used the Logos library system so I was able to upgrade for free. This is really turning out great! Still awaiting arrival of my course material from Moody but I have started do a general bible study. I am currently reading the _Zondervan Handbook to the Bible_ which has a 100 page introduction to the bible and its assembly. All and all things are going along very well. Thanks to everyone and God bless...
