You misunderstood what I meant.  By saying Stanley is not Jesus was not a slam.  You should of followed the conversation to see what I meant.  I meant that he is not 100% correct, and neither is anyone else.  I was trying to explain why people do not agree with others 100%.  The only one we could ever agree with 100% is Jesus.

As for In Touch Ministries, this is one of the best I have found.  I also like Alistair Begg's Truth For Life, but I don't agree with everything he says either.

    You misunderstood, I didn't say it was a slam. I didn't accuse. I asked a question.

I believe if you check you'll find the same reason behind McCarthyism in its day. Only then it was fear the Red's. The Commies, the Pinkos.  And Adolph had declared war on the whole world too

It's that old adage all over again isn't it? Those that don't learn from their history are condemned to repeat it.

There was a Hollywood blacklist during the McCarthy era. Actors didn't work if their names were on it because they were thought to side with the communists. It was like the witch hunts of old. Point, accuse, arrest, try, kill. Only in the case of the Hollywood black list the death came when the actor couldn't get work. And their name was smeared with the dread "C" word before it.

After 9-11-2001 people were in a panic over the M word. One woman to her eternal shame made the news turning in three suspect terrorists she overheard in a diner laughing about the 9-11 assaults. The men she turned in were medical school students. She lied and profiled them because they appeared Arab to her. Long horribly sad story short, she reported suspicious behavior that only transpired in her warped imagination. And the three men lost their place in the medical college they were traveling to at the time they stopped at that diner.

When that call came from homeland security encouraging reporting of suspect behavior, I remember when I was told about that call what I was thinking. Imagine the reach of such an anonymous reporting system. What a beautiful way for a warped person like that woman in the diner to destroy someone's life. "TERRORIST!" The scarlet T that when applied makes one guilty until they can prove they're innocent of the charge.

Call authorities! Alert to the dread T word in your area. Ruin a life out of spite. Or just because while walking past their house one day you happened to look in the window and saw the lady of the house donning a Niqāb. When before this person walking by had never seen the lady of the house attired in such a way. A secret Muslim? Fear, imaginings of the worst scenario run through that neighbors head. And then they call that anonymous reporting line and turn her in.

    "See something say something"

My friend that got the call said he felt sorry for the one customer he had that had a Che Guevera poster framed in his den. Because if a contractor came to work on the central air unit located outside the window of that den looked in they could decide to report that customer. After all, they're framing the image and likeness of a Cuban communist in their home. Which indicates respect for the man and his principles.

     Scary isn't it?

See something say something = imagine something report something
How does one recover from having their name written down on a federal reporting line for suspect behavior in America today?

I could, but you will disagree with me, so I will not.  The point is, if you studied his theology long enough, you will find something you would disagree with as he is not Jesus, but only a human like you and I.

You do realize no one is claiming Dr.Stanley is like unto Jesus? What is being discussed here is the positive of his ministry. And that is not detracted from because someone may disagree with what he says. As we are all not going to agree with everything every pastor has to say about the scriptures. Just as we don't agree with one another always in how we understand them.

There is a very serious warning in the book of Revelation. Why is that?

Revelation 22:18-19  For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

You do understand John was speaking of the book of prophecy that is revelation?

I agree. No human is perfect. However, Dr.Charles Stanley is a man of God. And I think this thread was intended to represent a positive observation regarding his ministry . Being the Controversial topics forum is the fitting place for that which would think to state otherwise.

It is unfortunate if a positive thread cannot have a long life in this community.

You said it there, Jewels!  The Rs are caught with egg on their faces after seven years of doing NOTHING and now having to come up with a plan.  That tap dancing can be fun or it can be exhausting....depends on the day.

Either or, when they're done they're the one's with the chauffeur that drives them home and they live better than we do when it is our taxes that provide that living. You'd think they'd act grateful wouldn't ya and actually care about the 99%.  But how could they? They've never had their gas turned off in winter or the electric shut because they can't pay the bill. Thinking tax credits in a few thousand range sells this to the people now tells me they don't realize many of us know that we can accrue that kind of hospital bill in a day.

The nightmare that is Obamacare was known well prior to its passage into law. Taxachusettes had the like for years prior. Only then it was called Romneycare. And he wanted to be president.

There's a new endeavor in the health care market that I heard about. https://atlas.md/ Looks hopeful. :)

  7. Proverbs 1
15 My son, do not walk in the way with them,
    Keep your foot from their path;
16 For their feet run to evil,
And they make haste to shed blood.
17 Surely, in vain the net is spread
    In the sight of any bird;
18 But they lie in wait for their own blood,
They lurk secretly for their own lives.
    19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain;
It takes away the life of its owners.

don't get trapped into vain arguments and name calling. mark them and pray for them.

  8. Dr. Charles Stanley: Learning to Walk Wisely

    Quote

Craig von Buseck: Along those same lines, you write, "A mature, godly person is probably tempted more than an unbeliever." Why do say that?

Dr. Charles Stanley: Because a person who is living in sin, Satan already has them where he wants them. So temptation is a way of life. They're just doing what comes naturally. Those of us who love God, the Holy Spirit is living in our life, so what happens is when we're tempted, a wise person will recognize that they are being tempted to do what is not right.

Rick, have you read this book yet?

Don't be led to upset brother. This thread is to be a positive affirmation of Dr.Charles Stanley and his pastoring the flock. The only way this thread can be degraded into what is in the appropriate forum for it is if we participate. If we rise! Remember the Psalmists wisdom about conflicts? Find peace. :) Respect yourself , the word, Jesus, and the power of God that calls those whom he will to bless the world with his word.

Keep this thread positive brother. Do not rise. Pray for those that wish to bring you down and keep it moving toward the testament of Jesus Christ! :emot-heartbeat: :emot-hug:  Daniel 2:22 "It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, And the light dwells with Him.

Yes it does. This thread does not defend anything. It is a rant without substance. If you came upon this thread without knowledge of any previous thread, would you understand it from anything found here? I asked as simple question of the OP, in that he makes no argument nor does he direct anyone to any account of his opposition. What I said was the only response I could come up with that anywhere near covers my feelings towards that which I assumed was the underlining point in all of this.

Being you observe there is another thread concerning Dr.Stanley's credentials as a minister, I'd wonder why you'd presumably participate there and then arrive here in order to assail the point the OP member is hoping to convey with a declaration after the herald in the subject line.

A rant without substance certainly wouldn't warrant your attention when you remark to put forth the attitudinal personal opposition to this thread that you have. If it was without substance someone who relishes substance would have nothing to credit to their own name in such a place as that.

It's a rant. Worthless. No one has to care about your feelings. Self respect considers others feelings. And when they have nothing that helps a member seeking to make a positive statement about a Baptist pastor, they should stand mute and turn their attention to that substantive discourse that warrants the esteem of their personal intellect.

It is unbecoming to arrive first in order to coax this thread into what the controversial subject one has become. I would wonder what substance is found there that may warrant your input to the topic itself.

    Thank you for coming.

God forgives us all. Because we were worth it.

a few off teachings does not make one false teacher

Extremist Fundamentalism would tend to disagree. However, that track is very hard to defend using the new testament. One issue of contention for some that are opposed to Stanley are those that in my experience turn out to be atheists. Or, nominal xtians. Eternal Security.

I've met with and shared what Christian belief encompasses with people who will argue till they're red in the face that ES is not true. It isn't scripture. It isn't in the Bible. The reason these people are deemed nominal Christians in my view is because after all that I recall their lifestyle. And how they live when they get behind the wheel of that car that has a Jesus sticker on it.  But they live like Hell hounds.

No wonder they don't feel secure in Christ. They're not!

We do not have a creed or specialized doctrinal stance that we are trying to sneak in under the guise of biblical preaching. People know that when they watch "In Touch," they are going to receive a practical lesson right out of the Scriptures.   Yet I reject the notion that eternal security is just a Baptist doctrine. As you read, I believe it will become apparent that this doctrine is fist and foremost a biblical one." I just got back. I haven't seen a thread that calls him false. But I can understand why you'd want to start your own positive light thread Rick. Why don't you share why you appreciate Dr.Stanley's ministry? I watch him too. :)

  15. For God so loved the world.

That he gave his only begotten son.

I feel for those who think they're not worthy of God's love. This is a deeply personal issue for them and not a thing to do with God. Being his love letter to the world tells us just the opposite of what some people claim about the god they know.

    Very sad.

And yes, Spark hasn't been here in ages. Perhaps they found their own way. Hope so.

Have you noticed how much dark occult theme including zombie war type shows is taking over American broadcast TV now?

I have. It's hard to miss. They've even made Lucifer into a lovable character living in where else? The city of angels, Los Angeles.

The air element pertains to what in Judaism? They were big in symbols and even letters had numbers attached to create a sacred numerical system.

It is a mystery tradition in itself. We are challenged to look beyond the narrative. The words mean less than The Word.

Amen! It's known as Biblioidolatry. Wherein someone worships the book not the spirit of God that exists outside of and beyond .

What year is that picture taken from? Those are not current game box covers.

No they are not current. I've no idea what the point is really. They're all games. The Ouija is just silly.

Twister was fun but it was also sexualized back in the day. Monopoly inspires materialism in the young. Jenga inspires concentration. Ouija inspires fraud.

If that game can bring forth the devil, imagine what music and TV can do. :bored-1:
