  1. you have quoted Christ's statement in Matthew 11. Is it your view that before the cross - when Christ was teaching in Matt 11 - he was ignoring the Exodus 20 and Genesis 2 Sabbath ("Made for mankind" according to Christ in Mark 2:27) and commanding His disciples to also ignore that commandment? If so - how does that fit in with Christ's statement on God's Ten Commandments in Mark 7:6-13??
  2. That is a great quote - and as your quote indicates the word "alike" is added. It is not in the text. It is a reference to the Bible-approved annual holy days of Leviticus 23. One man observes one above the others (presumably "and not the others") while another man observes all of them. So that is fine for "Bible approved" days. But in Galatians 4:6-11 Paul flatly condemns observing even one pagan day. So then if you look at the pagan calendars today - and start keeping one of the days they list - well then in Gal 4.. Paul says that is a problem.
  3. Well then I better start calling myself "Baptist" and fast! Something like "Seventh-day Baptist" would be interesting. I like section 19 of the "Baptist Confession of Faith". Really good Bible truths are stated there.
  4. Thanks - for some reason I inexplicably overlooked the "quote" button.
  5. Thanks - you added an excellent point: "Death and resurrection" and in fact His continued work as our Hebrews 8:1 "High Priest" in heaven ... which Paul says "is the main point" in Hebrews 8.
  6. Question: Is there a way to reply to a post - where the post you reply to - is quoted ? For example it appears that your signature line says " "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."-Hebrews 13:8" Which is the key to a great many Bible truths. nice. in Christ, Bob
  7. I would like to share a statement of Faith that I fully affirm and that I think is very close to the one on this forum. ============================================= I believe in God, the almighty creator of heaven and earth. I believe in the triunity of God. We believe that God is eternally One, and also eternally the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit — the three being distinct, but not separate. Each Person of the Godhead coexists from everlasting to everlasting. I believe in the Messiah, Jesus, God’s only begotten son, God come in the flesh. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate. He was crucified, died and buried. On the third day, He rose again. Soon afterward He ascended into heaven. Now He is seated at the right hand of the Father and He will return to judge both the living and the dead and reign for evermore. I believe all mankind are sinful and are therefore subject to God’s wrath and condemnation. I believe that everyone is in need of God’s salvation. Mankind is absolutely unable to fulfill the heavy demands of God’s righteousness, holiness and glory. Therefore, God, in sending His Only Begotten Son, has accomplished redemption for us through the shedding of Jesus’ blood. Because of His Son’s death, God has forgiven us of our sins, reconciled us to Himself, and justified us by making Him our righteousness. I believe that salvation is a gift received by faith alone, in Messiah alone, and is expressed in the individual’s recognition and repentance of sin, and the acceptance of the risen Messiah as Saviour, Lord and God. I believe in the supreme Lordship of Jesus Christ, before whom every knee in heaven and on earth will bow. And that there is no other name under Heaven by which we can approach the holy throne of God. Jesus Christ is the one and only mediator between God and man. I believe in the ongoing work of sanctification by the Holy Spirit after redemption for the purpose of producing life changing fruit — love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and self-control. I believe that the 66 books of the Canon, from Genesis to Revelation are the exhaustive, inerrant and inspired word of God. ============================================================== If there are people here who would like to discuss one or more of those statements of affirmation - I would be happy to join in. in Christ, Bob
