  1. Hello again. Long story short, I had an unfortunate, sudden but not unexpected death in the family recently. The adult siblings all gathered. 5 families, 4 of which are lapsed or worse. We get on the topic of faith, and I'm sent into action. I defend truth as vehemently as I know how. However, I'm green, an amateur. I was challenged on the great flood and I was tripped up. A very sly objection I had never heard or had to defend anywhere. I was challenged on the timing of the Bible vs. Gilgamesh when it comes to the great flood. My only defense was to ask for empirical proof of dates and to explain the Bible was orally passed down for a long time as well. I also explained how all the Messiah myths of old were simply false Christ stories attempting to fulfill old testament prophecy, and it's backwards to think those myths are the same thing as the Jesus Truth which in fact DID fulfill ALL prophecies (attempting to correlate this logic to the Genesis flood). But I'm not satisfied with myself on the Gilgamesh topic and would like to ask if anyone could help basically debunk Gilgamesh as an empirical proof of an older flood story compared to Genesis? I apologize if the answers are already archived here, I'm just trying to engage some positive discussion, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
  2. You're so right, it IS tragic. We're watching future history unfold right before our eyes. If you know what I'm saying?
  3. I have to say there was a video link posted on about page 4 or 5 regarding interpretation of end times. I watched it last night (13 mins long), and it was fascinating. I didn't want to speak to it until I had a 2nd viewing because it's a treasure trove of information but I think it eloquently explains one man's view (which seems logical and justified) and seemingly touches on some of the themes presented in the last few posts. Give it a look, at the very least I don't think anyone who watches will be disappointed.
  4. True, great point. Funny how I wrote it, I've read it countless times, but it took this exchange to open my eyes. You're right, it's NOT possible based on God's word. Now we should try to qualify "the elect". Who do you think exactly was being referred to with that statement? The saved? The Pope? The 144,000? Maybe something else?
  5. I totally agree. I'd choose faith over life everytime. After all what is life, without faith?
  6. This is wonderful, thank you. I would like to add to this piece: "no born again believer would sell their heart and soul for any of satan seductions" So true, but they most certainly could be deceived into it, even the elect, if it were possible.
  7. I look forward to watching your video when I'm out of work, Maybe even at lunch, this piqued my curiosity immensely. Thanks for the post.
  8. This explanation makes perfect sense and I've certainly read the more esoteric, figurative interpretation of the above. Your entire explanation was great. So, based on this understanding and my hypothetical scenario, is it safe to assume you would have no issue with receiving an electronic chip in your right hand, to buy and sell, in the name of safety and security?
  9. Hi Joe! Thanks for your thoughts. When reading the above piece I think about how willingly people line up for the latest gadgets, and it begs the question of how many people willingly adopted smartphones (me included). I think with the right deception, the majority will willingly stand in line for false promises of something "better", "safer" or "more secure".
  10. Great point, and of course I read the last sentence in my "Dana Carvey's George Bush Sr. Impression voice" I can see Dana at the podium, in costume......"not gonna do it" God bless.
  11. Thanks for that, I find all the different outlooks fascinating.
  12. Not to derail but little by little I learn the limitations of using my phone for this forum. I have never seen anyone's signature, nor did I realize it was even an option to have one here.
  13. I don't doubt it the slightest, I'm an indoorsman who'd probably die in the first hour lol, but no faith you would be spiritually guarded?
  14. I follow you now. I do find something suspicious about promising medical Nirvana if you agree to get chipped, however. In essence isn't it contradicting God's decree after the fall?
  15. All true. Worldly logic dictates the above consequences. Regarding the chip, the forced vs non forced issue is why my hypothetical presents a non forced scenario. So, in your beliefs, since the chip is not the mark, and in my hypothetical where it is not forced and no evidence of Antichrist, but promises of better security, would you get chipped to ensure your safety and security?
  16. I'm in general agreement with you, but I'm confused by the first above quote "... You may not have a choice" I guess it all depends on the individual, unless I'm misunderstanding? Regarding the 2nd quote above, I agree, no outwitting a beast system. That's why I'd simply reject it and take my worldly lumps. No head and full faith beats a doctrine of accommodation every time. Of course, easy for me to say hiding behind a keyboard, but that's why I'd attempt to remove myself from the world first. If I'm in God's plan for protection, great! If I'm God's plan for martyrdom, great!
  17. I was suckered into chipping my poor doggie (there's that safety and security again), but I've learned some in the ensuing decade and would never do it again. When it came to people or family or new pets however? Never.
  18. It's so true, but I always feel I can be doing more and doing better for Jesus. I'm the guy who (most likely misinterprets) Jesus' answer to the question of how we get to heaven and wants to give it all up and give it all away. I don't think the wife and kids are of the same understanding however. ?
  19. Well, you've given me a new topic to pursue biblically, I'll start with Isiah 60 (sometimes I get too focused on 40) many thanks!
  20. I hope to not be here either, but as an ugly sinner, I never quite feel "worthy" enough.
  21. This is fantastic and something I never considered given the distance involved. Thanks!
  22. Lol, NO. I'm thankful and grateful you replied ?. There's no right or wrong "answer" and yours was great! I'm too skeptical to go with the flow if this micro chipping seeps into worldly culture. I know there's as many varying beliefs on end times as their is flavors of ice cream at Baskin Robbins. I'm actually hoping to read some varied ideas on this concept, thanks again!
