  1. The dumbest person does the most complicated math. Only it is unconscious. My son is a computer engineer, and it would be to complicated for him to do the math required to catch a ball. Yet, most people are able to catch at least an easy throw. We talk about eye hand coordination also. We can study this the most with people that have savant syndrome. At the university here they flunk out half the people that take engineering. Anyone can sign up, but only half are given a passing grade. Compared to the other state university where they require you to have a 3.0 grade point average before you can sign up for classes like nursing or architecture.
  2. So can we assume that Isaiah 9:6 is talking about the same thing: "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. When Jesus returns people will no longer be eating meat? Or are we talking about two different "stages"?
  3. It is pretty clear we are not supposed to be eating the fat. This is what caused heart disease and strokes. 1 Samuel 2 15 "Even before the fat was burned, the servant of the priest would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, “Give the priest some meat to roast, because he will not accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.”
  4. When does Jesus come back? Was Isaiah talking about the return of Jesus" Isaiah 65:25 "The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, and dust will be the serpent’s food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain,” says the LORD."
  5. Jesus went about preaching, teaching and healing the sick. He lived His life as an example for us to follow.
  6. The problem started long before Adam and Eve back at Pangaea when the dinosaurs began to devour one another.
  7. This is why Jimmy Carter calls John McCain a Warmonger. He has no regard for human life, and far to0 often it is the Warmongers who are given control over the government. You do not actually have to kill people. They are happy for you to pick up the dead bodies along with the arms and legs and put them in body bags. As Christians, we are to love our enemy. We are to do good to others. We are to treat people the way we want to be treated. Matthew 7:12 In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the Prophets. 13 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. People say we do not have to follow the law. In what way is it acceptable treat others in a way we would not want to be treated?
  8. That is the most difficult for me to understand. God is a God of absolute, perfect, precise justice. Yet the world is filled with what appears to be a LOT of injustice. This seems like a huge contradiction to me. We know a day is 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.0916 seconds. So we know how accurate and precise things can be.
  9. Science has a half life of 47 years. Then new information comes along, and we have a better understanding. DNA was discovered in my lifetime. I remember reading "The Double Helix" by James Watson when I was in High School when it was fresh off the press. Watson actually does not have a very good reputation. His information is not really wrong. We just know a LOT more about DNA today than we knew back in the '60's. Of course, it is amazing the Bible has not changed since the day the Bible was given to Moses. Our understanding tends to change, and even our translation changes. Although what we received from the Rabbi has not changed in the Hebrew. You can say with theology, what is true today will be wrong tomorrow. Look at gravity. Newton's formulas still work. Einstein's formulas are better because we can do more with them. Newton's math could not get us to Mars. My son is a computer engineer, and he had a professor that taught him how to make a formula. Him and I work together, and he can come up with a formula for some of the things I talk about in terms of astrophysics. I have people who try to argue about the age of the earth because they do not know how well the math is established for that. Using the same math that they use for the GPS on their phone. What they use to call trigonometry.
  10. Clearly, the child of the "slave" is entitled to the same inheritance as the child of the free women. As very little of the promised land is under the control of the descendants of Israel. Most of the land is controlled by the descendants of Ishmael.
  11. Abraham had to claim the land. He had to walk around the land God was giving to him and his descendants. The new Jerusalem will be 1500 by 1500 by 1500 miles. The entire Arab Continental plate. Deuteronomy 11:24 "Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the hinder sea shall be your border". Joshua 1:3 "Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore arise, you and all these people, and cross over the Jordan into the land that I am giving to the children of Israel. 3 I have given you every place where the sole of your foot will tread, just as I promised to Moses. 4 Your territory shall extend from the wilderness and Lebanon to the great River Euphrates—all the land of the Hittites—and west as far as the Great Sea"
  12. Sarah was both his wife and his half-sister, the two shared a father but not a mother. Adam and Eve were full brother and sister sharing the same matriarch and patriarch. "flesh of his flesh bone of his bone". "The Book of Genesis puts Adam and Eve together in the Garden of Eden, but geneticists’ version of the duo — the ancestors to whom the Y chromosomes and mitochondrial DNA of today’s humans can be traced — were thought to have lived tens of thousands of years apart. Now, two major studies of modern humans’ Y chromosomes suggest that ‘Y-chromosome Adam’ and ‘mitochondrial Eve’ may have lived around the same time after all." https://www.nature.com/articles/nature.2013.13478
  13. Adam did fill the earth. All of Eden was preserved on the ARK and the earth was filled. Science has put a lot of work into showing how cultivated plants and domestic animals from the middle east spread to Europe. At the time of Adam and Eve the world went from hunter gathers to food producers. This was the beginning of what we call Civilization. A big surprise to the early disciples of Jesus was that the Gentiles would be saved. He never really told them about this. In fact, Jesus called them dogs: Matthew 15 25 "The woman came and knelt before Him. “Lord, help me!” she said. 26 But Jesus replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” 27 “Yes, Lord,” she said, “even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” Acts 10:45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.
  14. Your missing the point. Psalm 139:16 "all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." God writes the book of our life at or before our conception. He gives us all of our gifts, talents and abilities in our DNA. We have the choice if we use what we have to bring Him praise, honor and glory or not. God clearly declares the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:9-11) He watches over His word to perform what He proclaims. (Jeremiah 1:12) Jeremiah 29:11 'For I know the plans I have for you', declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. It is NEVER God's plan for anyone to perish. But we do have free choice. Revelation 22:17 "The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. 2Peter3:9 "God is not willing that any should perish". Science fights long and hard to show that our DNA goes back to the beginning. Evo-Devo supports this. From the beginning, it was never a part of God's plan for anyone to perish.
  15. Everyone is written in the book of life. Your name has to be blotted out if you reject Jesus. Revolution 3:5 "I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels". We can be good under the law and reap the benefit of that. But to be right or righteous only comes through Jesus.
  16. The information I have is they are transgender. My wife is from the Philippines.
  17. My daughter never even made it into the womb. Yet I had a very vivid dream about her in heaven when she would have been around 30 or 40 years old here on Earth. But in heaven, she was maybe two or three years old. Time is different there.
  18. Though God may suffer his people to fall into sin, and to lie a great while in it, yet he will, by some means or other, recover them to repentance, bring them to himself and to their right mind again. (Matthew Henry) We pray for deliverance, even when we have no idea how God is going to accomplish that in our lives. Romans 8:28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
  19. Science shows that even when we have a genetic predisposition from our ancestors. We do not have to express that. Dr Ornish has done a lot of research on this. He has written many books dealing with how we can overcome cancer, heart disease, diabetes and other conditions when there is a genetic predisposition. Epigenetics is the study of how your behaviors and environment can cause changes that affect the way your genes work. Unlike genetic changes, epigenetic changes are reversible and do not change your DNA sequence, but they can change how your body reads a DNA sequence.
  20. As I just said in another post. There is a website called quota where people can be a lot more open with their discussion and their experiences.
  21. There is talk about Jello land in heaven, where the kids can go to play and everything there is edible.
  22. The nurture vs nature debate is far from conclusive. Right now the discussion has to do with what we inherit from our ancestors in the DNA we receive from them? There are people who believe in generational curses. There are churches that pray for people to be delivered from this. Deuteronomy 5:9 "I am a jealous God, and I will bring the curse of a father's sins upon even the third and fourth generation of the children of those who hate me;" Sexual abuse in children could be as high as 50% with 20% reported. My brother worked for the civil service as a doctor (pediatrician) deep in the Appalachian mountains. To help pay for his medical school. (Anyone ever saw the movie deliverance?) This is really a discussion more for Quota dot com then this website. People are a lot more open to talking about things on there. If people have a burning desire to discuss these issues, that would be the place. As Christians, we do not deal with the fallen condition of creation so much as the restoration and the way God declares things to be. God watches over His word to perform what He says He is going to do. (Jeremiah 1:12)
  23. I had a cat that had kittens. When she decided to wean them, she knew exactly where the off switch was and would swat them in the head if they messed with her. I thought at the time that if mothers weaned their children that way no one would ever become a drug addict.
  24. It sure is an active discussion, but we cannot seem to define the terms we are using. There is a lot of confusion as to what we are talking about. Which was the original question that still has not been answered.
  25. The Bible uses the word: "themselves" “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” Luke 18:14 James 4:6 “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”
