  1. A hypothetical situation. "John" was subjected to various indignities and insults from public servants from the city and county for no reason other than he was a soft target. Later, John planted a church with a building built for holding worship services soon after. With impending local and national elections drawing near John was approached by public officials and asked it the church could be used to where people can come and vote, in other words, a polling place. Because John is a strong proponent of separation of church and state, and because of the insults suffered by public officials in the past, his mind is to tell them in so many words No. If John were to give a reason, he would say that he doesn't want any of his people to be exposed to such Machiavellian arrogance as he was. Would he be right or wrong to refuse to have his church used as requested?
  2. For what it's worth there is a difference between turning the other cheek and going into a potentially hostile situation. Or don't you agree?
  3. And they've chosen not to respond to one in which I was involved in. Not a good choice in my opinion.
  4. They've responded to accidents as minor as this.
  5. Not gonna happen for two very good reasons: 1. As I've noted before the police are so defensive that any attempt to engage them in conversation is met with an attitude bordering on insulting! 2. My previous encounters with public servants has left me with the firm resolve to avoid any and all contact with public servants whenever possible.
  6. It didn't. There was a witness and the driver that ran into me claimed responsibility. So would I.
  7. The accident occurred in the middle of the street well away from any private property and parking lots.
  8. Not gonna happen! These days the police are so defensive that any attempt to engage them in conversation is met with an attitude!
  9. Last year I was involved in an accident and when I called 911 they refused to sent the police. My question is if I should be invited to a police function by the police would it be OK for me to refuse to attend and state why due to their refusal to show up at the accident?
  10. Would you buy a Bible from a Christian company in which one of its subsidiary companies published a book supporting homosexuality?
  11. I was reading "Old Paths" by J. C. Ryle and in it he wrote "I have a right to say that anyone and everyone may be saved." J. C. Ryle was a Calvinist and I thought Calvinists believed that only the elect were or would be saved or am I wrong?
  12. My mother passed away last week and I just received a card from people from a business where I work with money in it. I know people include money with birthday and anniversary cards and the like. What I would like to know is is it usual or normal to include money with sympathy cards?
  13. When a person wants to do something for the Lord regardless what that something is should that person wait on God or proceed to do it? Should we wait on God or as some say "You can't steer a parked car."?
  14. Last question. Hope you don't mind my asking but what do you do and how are you doing now?
  15. Homeless? Being homeless is probably my greatest fear. I hope you don't mind my asking but how long were you homeless and how did you make the turnaround and what do you do now? If you don't want to answer I'll understand.
  16. She was declared brain dead today at 11:15 am while we were waiting. It pains me to say this but she wasn't a nice person. Few good memories. We were (are?) a dysfunctional family and it was mostly due to her.
  17. My mom had a massive stroke last night and it's likely she won't survive. Oldest sister said she's brain dead. I went to the emergency room where the family was gathered. I said my goodbye albeit briefly. Everyone seems to be holding up well, especially dad. He's 89 years old. While waiting in the lobby with the rest of the family I was pacing back and forth and dad asked if I'd like to leave. He actually asked me this a couple of times. I asked if he would be OK with that and he said yes. I asked my two sisters that were there if they would be OK with that and they said that it would be OK with them. I asked each of them twice and they said yes each time. There was nothing to do anyway except wait. So I left and came back to work. They're going to take her off life support at 2:30 CT and they think that she should go pretty fast after they do. What do you think? Do you think it was OK for me to leave or stay?

    Servetus.

Who do non-Calvinists consider Servetus an impediment to Calvinism or a justification for not believing in this line of theology and why do Calvinists not consider it an impediment or a just criticism of Calvinism? Should it not be or should it be?
  19. Because at another Christian forum I found that the moderators are all too ready and willing to pounce on posts that I've submitted and that the members of that forum are too snarky and sometimes brutally so.
  20. I just saw this on Amazon.com in regards to a book I'm considering buying. According to Amazon if you buy the Kindle version of the book you will receive a 105% discount. Wouldn't that mean that Amazon will actually pay you to buy the Kindle version of the book? Not sure if someone at Amazon is bad at math or the program has some kind of bug in it. The book can be found here. By the way, anyone know the math formula on how to find the percentage of something?
  21. What is justification and sanctification?
