  1. I would like to give a testimony of how I found Jesus in the summer of 1997, June 1997 to be specific. First of all, due to the atrocities or evil acts that I have witnessed from April 1975 to mid 1980, from twelve to seventeen years of age, I have denied all God’s existence or any of His manifestations as well as any religions. I became an atheist. Before I move on to how I found Jesus through numbers, I would like to tell you some of the details of the evil acts that I have had to witness or experience.
Both of my parents served in the military. When the communist faction took over Cambodia in 1975, one of the first things that they did was to execute all military officers. My father was one of them. They shipped all the officers to a remote location for mass execution. Fortunately, my father didn’t get killed. He came back home with a wounded arm. Three months later, they found him and executed him. This time, it was in my presence. That was the first evil act that I have witnessed. Then, they split my family apart. They sent me to work in the rice fields, sixteen hours a day seven days a week. I was almost starved to death. Due to the war in the country within many factions, including the Vietnamese army, I was pushed into a Thai refugee camp. While in the camp, I joined the orphaned group and the leader of the orphaned group took me in as his brother. Three months later, my new brother and I landed in the United States, or the heaven on earth.
From September 1980 to present, I have been living in the United States. It was very hard at first, but I expected nothing from America. I accepted whatever America offered me which turned out to be more than I expected. When I first arrived in America, I had nothing. I mean really nothing; no money, no education and knew nothing about the English language. One decision that I made that changed the course of my life was to go to school and the determination to stay in school. I spent my first eight years in school while in America. In 1988, I received my degree in Electrical Engineering. My belief in education pulled me out of poverty. Then in the summer of 1997, I found God or rather God has found me.
In June 1997, on Friday to be specific, the operator of my company in Minnesota called me in to fix the computer software called the State Estimator. I arrived at work around 6 am. I struggled to fix the program for about two hours. This had never happened to me before. Then I heard the “Voice” that said “why don’t you pray on it!” I said no and I denied the “Voice”. Then the “Voice” became clearer and stronger. Out of desperation, I placed my hands on the monitors and said “Whoever you are, please help me.” When I opened my eyes, the program solved again and displayed a timestamp, “08:08:08”, as a completion time for analyzing the power system or the power grid. I was intrigued with the numbers and thought that these numbers most have a religious meaning, involving God. But how do I know which god? Was it Allah, Jesus, Buddha or Hindu’s gods? I could not confirm it. So, I moved on with other life pressing tasks.
Then, the numbers “888” appeared to me again during lunch time. And then again at around 1 pm. That got me thinking and I entered it in the internet searching engine. The result blew my mind away. It said that “888” is a number that belongs to Jesus as it is a summation through His name of the Greek alphabet. I broke down and cried. I stopped working for the rest of the day and searched and learned about Jesus as well as His Father. Before I went home, I placed my hands on the monitor, said the prayer, gave my life to Jesus and I became the follower of Jesus Christ ever since.

Thank you for reading my testimony!
    God bless

  2. Hello brothers and sisters,

After intense prayers and discussion with my pastor, I have decided to break my fast today. The experience of fasting was worthwhile and I learned a lot from it. Thank you all for the comments, recommendations, and concerns.

    God bless you!!!

Please take into account that replies are not only addressing you in your endeavor, but also addressing others who are reading the conversation. I agree with you in that a partial food fast is better than a total food fast in your situation. With that said, it is a good idea to have a doctor monitor your health closely and very frequently during this fast. Don't think of this as just about your tummy or your diabetes. When you intake nourishment, your brain and heart get the lion's share and then your other internal organs in that order before any other part of you receives any intake of nutrition. An extended fast deprives your organs of life sustaining nutrition to keep you alive and when there isn't enough nutrition, they shut down in an attempt to keep you alive. This is why folks are upset, not that you are merely doing a fast, but the length of it. Anything over three days is hazardous to even very healthy people, let alone someone with health issues. Healthy people doing an extended fast have died after one or two weeks of depriving themselves of nourishment. Extended fasts are very hard on your heart, kidney's and liver.

The thing is you can give yourself other long term health problems in addition to what you already have. It is not the length of time or endurance that makes fasting beneficial, but the sincerity in your heart of the desire for that closer walk with the Lord.

Appy, you have a genuine concerned for my well-being. I love you for that, my friend. I will pray to our Heavenly Father if I should cut short of my fasting. I will update my brothers and sisters here at Worthy soon.

    God bless you!!!

  4. I would like to add new information about me. It seemed that some people is not please with my action which I called a fast.

First of all, I have many health issues. I am diabetic, have high cholesterol, and I’m bipolar. I’m taking a lot of medications. I need to have food as well as drinking a lot of water. However, I was doing a lot of sinful things and I wanted to overcome them. Therefore, I’m doing a partial fasting. I wanted to feel hunger for 12 hours and learn to accept it or overcome my sinful things. So far so good!!!

I am continuing to do it. I will accept any consequences of my action. With God’s help, I will be fine...

There are individuals that due to health reason's should not do a food fast.   We can demonstrate privately to God in other ways the humility and humbleness in our hearts. Prayer is a greater need than fasting, and is far more important than fasting. Fasting is not a requirement or expectation on anyone's part. Scripture does not demand it of us. Rather it is a voluntary response of the heart and attitude towards God. If there is a serious need in our hearts or lives, a fast serves to show us the reality of our own insufficiency in ourselves and redirect the focus onto God and our reliance on him. Away from other things and the hubbub of our daily routines and activities in our lives.

A lot of people feel that they are expected to be already perfect in their walk and when it doesn't happen as expected they think they are missing out on something or backsliding. Sanctification is a process, continuing throughout or lifetime. And God is pleased to work through the process slow and steady, with His work taking deeper roots in us than the rash snap of a divine finger. We need to rest in that when we believe and trust Christ that we are justified in his sight and trust that He will indeed get us there as promised. When we expect too much of ourselves we become frustrated and fail far from what was intended if we try to push it. Be patient with yourself, God's timing in sanctifying is not meaningless, and He has a sure and steady plan. We will gradually grow in grace. You will get there. God is NOT done with you. It is a lifetime process.

Thank you appy for a beautifully written comments and advise!!! I love it when you said “It is a lifetime process.” It’s the truth!!!

    Thanks TheBlade for the comments!!!

God told me to start the ministry in the USA, but I wanted to go to Cambodia. However, I’m following God’s Voice. My ministry should be starting in 2021.

    Hi Adam,

I must apologize for my haste in posting last night and having to sign out for the evening. I did not see this response back, though it was good of you to give me equal explanations in relaying needed health concerns. It would indicate here you are using a considerable amount of earnest attempt to remain careful in spite of your type of diabetes. I'm relieved you're taking a partial fast with sensible intake of nutritional supplements.

Would you also do me a favor and also take necessary vitamin/mineral essentials to make sure you are maintaining the optimal of what's best for Type I Diabetes? I could go down the list here, but I'm pretty confident now you are conscientious enough about it. You appear to be fairly knowledgeable to me. Please also check your vitals. Blood pressure, temp, and heart rate, for usual changes that may necessitate ending the fast.

    Shalom,

    David/BeauJangles

Brother David, I love you very much. You are kind and compassionate. Your love shine through your words!!!

    Again, thanks my brother

I fast every day 6pm to midday the next day. Is normal for me. No food at all during those times. Am type 2  diabetic and control my sugars by diet only for many years.

I do not recognise your eating as fasting at all. You do not, in fact, stop eating at all.

The thread title and your beliefs you are fasting are mistaken.

    What diabetic type are you?

Losing weight quickly at first is water stored in fat cells.

    Hello Leah777,

I’m type I diabetic. I only eat fruits or nuts when I felt like I’m low in sugar. Sometimes, I felt a little dizzy...I consumed less food before 6am and after 6pm. I cut my food intake by half. I think it would not be safe to cut food intake at all.

They understand weight loss a lot better than they use to. Sometimes the Pharmacist understands better than the doctor the chemistry involved in eating and fasting. I am not diabetic but I eat to much sugar and that gives me similar problems. So for me I need a low sugar diet and I have to be sure to keep orange juice around. Once my son drank all the orange juice and I made him go get some at 10 o'clock at night. He was mad but I have to keep that in the house. Now I try to keep a container in the freezer so we can make some orange just rather than to make an emergency trip to the store. I have test strips also. I can monitor my body to see when I am burning fat and when I am in a weight loss mode. There is some indication that fasting is good for diabetics and it can help them to recover.

    Thanks for the comments, JohnR7!!!

So far, I have lost over five pounds and I feel great...

Adam, you are the second person here at Worthy attempting a 40 day fast. It's nice to see it's not a total fast with merely expecting to make it on water alone. Being a diabetic, you need to understand the extremity of the risk you are undertaking. Your A1 levels could drop so severely that you may well find yourself waking up in a hospital bed. Or, not waking at all.

If you go into a diabetic shock,  the result of a coma may occur. I'm telling you this very seriously here, brother and the reason is this. I am Type II diabetic. If you are Type I or II, you're making a potentially grave mistake. Please listen to me. Do no do this to yourself. We are to take care of our temple, which our bodies are of the Holy Ghost. Don't risk it. Please.

1 Corinthians 3:17 King James Version (KJV) 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are

1 Corinthians 6:19 King James Version (KJV) 19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

    Hello brother BaeuJangles,

Thank you for your concerns and comments. I did some research and take enough precaution. I’m only doing a partial fasting. I eat complete food before 6am and after 6pm. During the 12 hours fasting, I consume some fruits and nuts as well as drinking enough water. So far so good!!! I feel a great sensation, a warm feeling, during this fasting, like God is protecting and caring for me. I’m type I diabetic with A1 of 6.9...not as bad.

    Again thanks brother!!!

    Adam

  15. During the End-Time, the two witnesses will appear. Who are they?

To my understanding, they are the Jews and Gentiles.

    Any thoughts?

If you are fasting, then no real need to pray for you...God will let you know when enough is enough, or "show" you what you needed to learn or know from this, but usually a 10 day fast is good enough for most people, only from what i've heard. But I once had a close friend who was born on 9/20, exactly 6 months after mine(not the same year)...so coming across this is kind of special to me.

    Thanks for the comments CaptWalker!!!

Your friend and I were born in the fall, around fall equinox and you were born in the spring, around spring equinox. I found this to be very interesting...I was born on 9/21/1962. However, when I came to America on 9/1/1980, they gave me a new birthdate, like a new beginning or born-again. September 2020 would be my 40th year in America...

No, I didn’t consult with my doctor. However, I am eating some fruits and nuts as well as drinking water. I’m diabetic...

  18. I’m doing a 40 Days Fasting, starting from Aug 12 to Sep 20. It will end on my birthday 9/21/2020.

There are two purposes of this fasting as listed below:

    1) Personal purification

    2) Pray for peace & healing to my family & the World

I am one week into it and I love it. I may do it longer, like 90 days.

    please pray for me!!!

    God bless

    Adam

  19. I have three that I’m very thankful for, but I would like to share only one very significant moment...

When I was about 6 or so years old, there was a big flood near my home. The creek at the front of my home was full of water and I played in the creek. Then I was pulled into deep water. As I was about to drown, the pelican swam by me and I grabbed him and held on him real tight as he swam to dry land. He saved my life! I believe our Lord had His hand in it. Praise the Lord!
