As i grow in faith i need talk less. I have become a much quieter person especially in church. I arrive early, sit, read my Bible and the hymn book, pray and prepare myself for communion service. I need to do this to get the full value of sunday.

I find the noise levels however intrusive. People chatter and act like it is a social occasion. We do have refreshments after service so feel surely they can keep chit chat and news until then? I used to be the same until i realised i want and need to focus on worship. After a very busy pressured week and another beginning, it is an oasis of opportunity to devote to God

Even at home, my refuge is to be alone as often as possible to read and pray.

Do others feel like this? Yhat inane gossip and talk is a huge waste of time and energy? So much of this world is meaningless nonsense. I like quiet people. I understand now those who remain silent, they are the wise ones! I actively avoid the very talkative.

After the service i search for those who i know are deep believers so that we nourish each other or those who may be struggling and in need of a listening ear and comfort.

I do pray for more patience. I wish to be humble, never superior. I aim to be a good listener - but only when someone truly needs that comfort. Otherwise it encourages the talkative all the more! I've actually developed techniques to be off-putting so i can be left in peace.

I just think while we chatter on and on, we cannot hear the still small voice of God whom we so need.

Head phones with some cool music could help in those times.

It is not only likely, it is reality.   I do not know anyone that drinks to get drunk or buzzed of what have you.  They all do so for the same reason people drink Ice tea or whatever it might be.  You should not judge people on things you know so little about.

All this reading is making me thirsty, I might go grab a beer and read some more. Fear God and honor the King

A few decades ago, I'd have looked down my nose at you and probably either shared a prayer request (e.g. gossiped) at my next prayer meeting about you or used you as an object lesson in a Bible study of how not to be a good witness for Christ.  I came from a family with no alcohol in the house at all so I had little exposure to people who would just have a beer after mowing the lawn without being an alcoholic or getting drunk.  I also tended to view any and all Christian alcohol consumption as being a stumbling block to Christians struggling with alcoholism and hence a sin.   Today, I see the issue much more as being one of moderation and not being enslaved to various substances or behaviors.

I often stand outside the grocery store with our dog meeting people while my wife is shopping. Today, I'd probably smile, comment that I like your shirt, and strike up a friendly conversation while my dog would probably go over and lean on you and expect to be petted.

I love to here peoples views when they find some understandings,

Can I please ask, "why, as a follower of Jesus, would you want to "pollute" the "temple of the Holy Spirit" which resides within you?" Surely you know that we are not to defile our bodies, doing a disservice to the One who came to set us free from these bondages. As with so many "christians" are we in name only, after all, if God is Lord of your life, why would you openly put Him to shame. Just remember DJBowler, you opened up yourself for comments, don't go shooting the messenger, ask God for forgiveness, and get back on track with a right relationship with the Father, and set a good example, God bless.

Hey Bro totaly understand your views,I can feel your passion, Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,  The Tempe of the most high, will handle my love and yours, regardless.

Sorry, I don't understand what you are saying.   I was responding about the person selling LSD to school kids after the mid-week service.   I said I would tell the pastor and the police.

Sorry miss understanding. I'm with you on this. Any one who hurts our little ones, are going to get what they deserve

You might enjoy reading 1st Corinthians Chapter 5...and it might modify what you appear to now believe about "judging".

Definitely a wolf in sheep's clothing!   I would have told the pastor and the police.

I have and will again. Totally  trying to understand..  You can do anything you like as long as you don,t Burden. Read that some where, makes sense .

What would you think of a “devout” Christian who leads a Bible Study saying they were not a drug addict but only uses a certain(very addictive and illegal) drug “very  sparingly.”

Isn’t that worse  than being an addict? I know nothing about drugs, but I would think that if you are not addicted, then you have no excuse for ever using drugs.

I was told that we are not supposed to judge people about things that are not specifically in the Bible but I’m having a hard time not judging this.

    Thoughts?

You said, I was told, Not suppose to judge people. Did you listen. What if these  Devout Christians,  sparingly in your words smoke  some of the peace pipe. Do we run them off there  reservation,  Its legal in many countries and is medical benefits and  purpose are now being understood.  What if they are really nice people that love our Lord, and teach his words. Step up and cast the first stone. The first time  i smoked the peace pipe as a follower of the Messiah, I couldn't stop thinking about him the hole time I was high.  You can cast stones at me two, as i thank him every day.  I'm not condoning or condemning   but a lot of followers are not following his words. Whats Judge Not mean.

I have been under a lot of stress for months now. Too much to go into.  I seem to get little comfort when I pray. It feels as though God has turn me out. Though in my mind I know that can not be true. But where is he? Why do I not feel his peace?  No I do not have unrepented sin in my life.  I do not know of anything that I did.  So what is wrong?

Lady Kay, hi, as you stated " why do I not feel his presence, Your not taking your time in his word. We all have to work out same times to get in shape. The Parable of The Sower of The Seed, can help you shake awake. In pretty sure we all go thru the slumps, but the rewards are to the ones that stand again. Look, Listen and Learn made sense when we were young.

I think a Crack House would be wrong if participating. But what if one goes there to help a friend or relative that is there and is wearing a Jesus shirt? Jesus perhaps shouldn't have sat with prostitutes and sinners in the public view, after all that might have offended others.

I think some the "look out for the weaker brother" as a cop out. It allows us to be weaker by hiding the fact that we are Christians.

In regards to the Jesus shirt being worn while purchasing beer at a grocery store... don't know if the couple was offended but they didn't appear pleased at the sight of me. What of those in this forum, what are your thoughts if you saw a man, with a big smile (that's the way I usually am) come out of a grocery store wearing a Christian shirt what would you think? Would you judge me? Would you condemn me? Would you think anything at all? Would you be glad to see a fellow Christian?  What would be your thoughts if you were in the parking lot and had seen me instead of the older couple?

What if you were buying beer for a family member, wear your shirt with honor. If I seen you in a parking lot with Jesus on your shirt with a pack of beer, I would of asked you for one. If you love Jesus, share your beer.

Just about anything can create an appearance of evil.

Well said. We have all experienced the effects of Alcohol some good, some bad.  Its the one thing you don't want to much of, and one to respect. It was given to use to use, not abuse.  Weddings party, and  funerals  are gathered around the  vine,    The people that judge should not.  When i have a drink, I THANK GOD for it.

    Shalom..

Is it sinful to drink alcoholic beverages and wine? I don't understand about this..If you know and have any Bible verses related to it please quote them too..

    Thank you.. :)

    Jesus bless you

You can do anything you like as long as you don't burden your self or any one else. if you drink, do it in Moderation and don't get intoxicated. Some people should never drink, but if your having one with family or friends,  give thanks when you do.

  12. I read a post here that this topic has already been discussed. Don't know what was said  but hears my input to the question. Einstein was quoted saying.'Coincidence is Gods way of staying anonymous.  Trumpets in the Bible are for sounding an alarm. President Bush was burning Baghdad that lite the wick.  God spoke to Moses through a burning bush before the Exodus. We are living in the end times and the trumpets are sounding.  If President Trump doesn't get reelected, he has severed Gods purpose, even if its just to get people to look at his name in prophecy.
