Since the universe as we know it did not exist, it seems the focus of the verse is planet earth. So it was not yet formed and the waters were dark. But then something moved over those waters. -God! So then there was light over the deep. The areas over which He moved were light, and apparently that was called day. The other areas from which He moved or 'hovered' were dark, and called night. Later the sun was created to continue this. So..?
-
God said. Why pretend it is a mystery what day the sun was created? No one's opinion matters on that. God is light and He lights New Jerusalem so there is no need at all for the sun. How is it that some people wonder how light could exist before the silly little sun existed? (compared to the power of God)

1- and 2- because it is likely that the laws of nature were different before the flood (and shortly after) so that most animals and man could not leave remains. 3- Probably those were the kinds that could leave remains in that different time. 4- Probably because Satan is inspiring men to doubt God and misread creation and evidence.

It is the case, clearly as Genesis says. The sun was not here in the first days/mornings/evenings. No possible getting around it. Why pretend outright disbelief is 'God's way'?
-
No. He made it so that mornings and evening were here already before the sun existed. Believe it ---or not.
-
Not by God's definition. He made it clear He created the sun days after the earth. Even plants were made before the sun. Therefore it is impossible to define a day by what the sun does or does not do now. (or anytime after it was created)
-
Contrary to your claim, there is no sun required on a day before a sun existed. Restricting the meaning of day based on some after the fact definition is just unbelief in drag.
-
The word was not defined by anything to do with the sun when used in Gen 1. No one needs to weld the bible to try to fit your little doubt regimen.
-
It is what it is. Of all the words available that are part of the definition, you have two choices. Either look for one that fits and leaves God and the bible looking good. Or look for one that seems to throw doubt on them. Try the former sometime.
-
Which is why we do not need to use a modern meaning of the word repent. Which is why I posted several other meanings we can use that both fit, and do not make God or the bible look sily.
-
No, that is how we know that evening and morning need not involve the sun at all. Believe it or not.
-
There was no sun so the sun had nothing to do with a morning or evening.

God knew what words man would be able to use. Below are all the meanings we can choose to apply. 1) to be sorry, console oneself, repent, regret, comfort, be comforted 1a) (Niphal) 1a1) to be sorry, be moved to pity, have compassion 1a2) to be sorry, rue, suffer grief, repent 1a3) to comfort oneself, be comforted 1a4) to comfort oneself, ease oneself 1b) (Piel) to comfort, console 1c) (Pual) to be comforted, be consoled 1d) (Hithpael) 1d1) to be sorry, have compassion 1d2) to rue, repent of 1d3) to comfort oneself, be comforted 1d4) to ease oneself Strong's A primitive root; properly to sigh, that is, breathe strongly; by implication to be sorry, that is, (in a favorable sense) to pity, console or (reflexively) rue; or (unfavorably) to avenge (oneself): - comfort (self), ease [one's self], repent (-er, -ing, self). There is no reason to enter some dazed and confused and doubting mental cloud wondering if the bible is wrong or not from God.

There is no moonrise or etc mentioned along with morning and evening in Genesis. Someone made that up

By definition, mornings and evenings and days were here before the sun in God's word. Any defining later by English or Hebrew people does not matter at all. If they were believers they would have translated properly.
-
So after waving away what a day is you proceed, of course to also wave away morning and evening. They just, golly gee, must actually mean something else to fit your stronger beliefs in science's alternate story of beginnings.
-
Genesis is a record of the time before there was English or Hebrew. In that record, the sun was not here when there were mornings and evenings. No way around that.
-
I expect His word to be right. You should try it sometime.
-
And it makes it clear the day was a day and had a morning and evening. Any other attempted translation is in opposition to the context as well as the rest of the bible. The sabbath day was not a million years, Jesus did not rise from the dead 3 million years after He was killed. Etc etc You made that rule. God records another reality. Your unbelief in the record of God does not make it void actually.
-
They were literal days. Literal mornings and evenings also. Adam was a literal man and Eve a literal woman who was taken from a bone of man.
-
The bible does not say we cannot have what it said we had actually. It says we had mornings and evenings before the sun. Your job is to believe it, or not.
-
Look around today. Do you not relate to those thoughts? I gave the definition of the word used for 'regret' Meanings that do not make the bible look wrong or unable to be taken for what it says. Funny you grasp at meanings that do the opposite.

You are reading fantasy into Scripture. Adam was the first man. 1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. We also have the six days of creation so we know that there were not darwinmonkies running around from whom God man the first man! In fact God formed man from the ground.
