Great. I think that is what we were saying. He doesn't make mistakes.
-
I think Genesis is a record of beginnings. He that comes to God needs to know who He is. He is the creator of heaven and earth that sent the flood, confused tongues, scattered people, made the first woman from the first man etc. To call those stories rather than the record is to not know or believe God.
-
Right. As long as people don't try to use the verse to wave away the reality of Genesis and the flood by suggesting that they think neither are literal. I think God is just as disgusted with the world today.
-
Not sure what that means. I assume you mean that man was supposed to be in God's image but had gotten more like the spittin image of Satan. But that God had a plan using Noah. Anyhow here is the meaning of the word translated as repented. Brown-Driver-Briggs' 1) to be sorry, console oneself, repent, regret, comfort, be comforted 1a) (Niphal) 1a1) to be sorry, be moved to pity, have compassion 1a2) to be sorry, rue, suffer grief, repent 1a3) to comfort oneself, be comforted 1a4) to comfort oneself, ease oneself 1b) (Piel) to comfort, console 1c) (Pual) to be comforted, be consoled 1d) (Hithpael) 1d1) to be sorry, have compassion Looking at the meanings here, the word repent does not have the same meaning usually thought of today. To be sorry and have compassion and comfort oneself and have some grief is not the same as wishing He never created us!

I see no problem with it at all. God was disgusted with the filth and murder and desperate wickedness and regretted creating man. Can you blame Him? But He had a plan. He knew He would have to come to earth and suffer horribly and be killed one day for us. Basically man was so bad even God had to shake His head. It was not the kind of regret that meant He was going to change His plan of salvation for man. Probably it was more like a clear realization that fallen man when allowed to ferment in sin too long was simply unacceptable. That is what the last days are like also as you know. What we see today more and more is simply unacceptable and He will step in with the Rapture and Tribulation.

He is not a liar. When He says He was sorry man was made because of how wicked they had gotten, that is what He means. Your invented notion that because He is Almighty, He should have made robots who could not disobey or whatever is simply nonsense. Despite being grieved by the utter deprivation and horrors of fallen mankind, notice that He saved us? Notice also how He planned to save us from before the time the world was made?

God does not say mankind was here before Adam actually. Not sure who or what you think you believe.
-
Not in any way is that close to even a shadow of the truth. Believe it. Or not.
-
That is usually the case. When people wave off creation as real, the rest follows as well eventually.
-
Nor that a day with a morning and evening was a day etc etc. How about a worldwide flood? Long lifespans pre flood? Eve was made the same day as Adam and taken from his bone? For what if some did not believe? Shall their unbelief make creation false?

God scattered them after Babel, all over the world. That is what the bible says. They came to Babel in a fear that for some reason they would be scattered all over. That is bible. The earth was divided in the days of Peleg. That is bible. Don't accuse others of making up what you ignore.
-
False. The bible says God scattered people and says it twice, after the Babel incident. After the confusion of tongues. Lurkers, have a look yourself. Genesis 11:2 And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. You see they knew even before languages were confused that they could be scattered all over the globe for some reason at the time. "lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth." That was before Babel. You claim that the scattering and dividing was all linguistic is patently ridiculous. The verse right after the confusion of language says this Genesis 11:8 So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. This is driven home and repeated again in the very next verse as well! Genesis 11:9 Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. No one learned any such foolishness. After the flood God told man and animals to be fruitful Genesis 8:17 Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth. Lurkers, take your pick from possible usages of the word 'earth' used here to see what fits or not 1) land, earth 1a) earth 1a1) whole earth (as opposed to a part) 1a2) earth (as opposed to heaven) 1a3) earth (inhabitants) It is clear that anyone pretending the best fit is some local flood is disrespecting the letter and spirit of the text. God Himself makes it crystal clear also in the same chapter what He had done. Genesis 8:21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. God made it clear before the flood as well what He was about to do. Genesis 6:6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. Genesis 6:7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Nothing was earlier than Adam. Noah lived not that long after him. Your dream dates have no basis in fact or reality and are, as explained a number of times already, wholly faith based. I am not sure why some people whole heartedly embrace other belief systems than God's word while laying claim to believe Scripture. The result is an obvious comedy of errors that actual believers can easily see.
-
There is no doubt that God scattered people after Babel actually. None at all. It was not limited to language. It was after the languages were confused that God scattered people.
-
How would accepting what the bible says regarding how the scattering of people was after Babel be limited to 'linguistic'? Do you think the people who migrated to the area where they built Babel had some sort of 'linguistic' migration? When God repeats twice about how people were scattered after Babel there really is no confusion as to what it means. The only thing is whether we might think the scattering was on a united big continent, or into all the continents as they now are. For someone that does not believe in a real creation or that woman was taken from the created man, or that there was a flood, etc etc etc I can see why they are either totally confused or lying. I am not convinced you are merely confused.

What does that language say that erases the fact that there was a day with a morning and evening? If there were, say, three possible usages of the word day (in any language) that we must choose from to fit the context of morning and evening, why would we pick anything else but a day?
-
It can be used in more than one way. When it is a day with a morning and evening, it is a day in the usual sense of the word. Your saying it is false is truly a falsehood.
-
If it has a morning and evening, a day is a day. Why, would you prefer to try to take it out of context?
-
Who said it was? The days of Peleg did not end at Babel! It was after that when God scattered them all over the world. This is news?
-
You seem to be agreeing that God formed a man from the dust and gave him life. That was done on day six.
-
Sorry you think Scripture is unreal. Jesus did not teach this. Acknowledging that there really was a tower being built after a migration, and God came down to stop it is not adding to Scripture. Knowing that a split happened in Peleg's day is not something anyone invented. Believe it or not. When someone pretends to respect Scripture but acts completely contrary in all statements, I have to think that they are some sort of sock puppet or something.
-
It is called belief. If God tells us men built a tower after migrating to an area after the flood, that does not mean the jolly green giant pooped jelly beans.

" Brown-Driver-Briggs' 1) to divide, split 1a) (Niphal) to be split, be divided 1b) (Piel) 1b1) to split, cleave 1b2) to divide Strong's A primitive root; to split (literally or figuratively): - divide." https://www.studylight.org/study-desk/interlinear.html?q1=Genesis+10:25 The division that happened in Peleg's day does not take away from how there were also some nations before that. Just as the tower of Babel does not take away from having families of people before that time. It even looks like that is how God probably divided the languages at Babel. We do know that there was ONE language in all the world until that time. So if we read about languages guess when that is? One commentary puts it this way "everyone after his tongue, after their families, in their nations; this shows, that what is said concerning the division of countries to the sons of Japheth is by way of anticipation; and that, though thus related, was not done till after the confusion of languages" https://www.studylight.org/commentaries/eng/geb/genesis-10.html#verse-5 So you don't get to say that it was before. Ha

You think God formed a tiny baby in the dirt and took Eve from his body the same day?
-
Better still let's look at the actual definition from the Hebrew of the verse in question. " Brown-Driver-Briggs' 1) to divide, split 1a) (Niphal) to be split, be divided 1b) (Piel) 1b1) to split, cleave 1b2) to divide Strong's A primitive root; to split (literally or figuratively): - divide." https://www.studylight.org/study-desk/interlinear.html?q1=Genesis+10:25 Clearly the meaning fits a land separation as well as the other divisions and language changes etc. No question. It also fits the evidence man has such as that the world was together, and all the fossils shared by various continents etc. There fore to be so adamant in trying to omit the split of the supercontinent as a possibility shows an agenda. And it sure is not a bible or creation or Go friendly one.
