  1. I was able to get the back end story behind their practice/tradition. They started this (focus method) a few months back. Previously they were having a hard time with offerings, apparently the congregation was not tithing. Based on my understanding they have adopted this offering/method prayer in order to focus the congregation that they are giving to the Kingdom of God. So they are using the cross as a reminder/symbol of the crucifixion and that its biblical to tithe. From what I hear the prayer is structured in a way that gives thanks to God the Father and gives thanks for his Son. They are a non denomination church.
  2. I recently started attending a church. Unfortunately due to covid 19, I was only able to attend like three times. Last Sunday they moved to online. Anyways, I have noticed that during the offering the pastor and congregation turn towards a cross and stretch their hands towards it. When the pastor prays it sounds normal he thanks the father etc. Exodus 20:3-6, provides an example of idol worshipping. I do not see anyone bowing down, praying to the cross or serving the cross. However I'm not sure what to think. The prayer seems normal I just don't understand why they give thanks towards the direction of the cross. Thank you
  3. As it pertains to parking we have handicap spots and about 6 visitor spots. From my observations the visitor spots are typically available. We are currently in the process of visiting other churches. Thank you all for your suggestions.
  4. Thank you for the reply I agree with your points. I managed to chat with my sister and brother in law. They have been attending church a lot longer and their replies matched up well with your advise. The only one's they seemed to question were 4 and 5. Let me attempt to explain further. Serving Ministry This particular serving ministry schedules randomly it's a cleaning ministry and its on Saturdays. We questioned them about not asking for availability and were told that the crew was too large to schedule based on availability. Weekly Huddles I guess the weekly huddles fall under planning. I have been thinking about this and we do have new people coming and going, so maybe that's why. For me the info tends to be generic they touch base on our regular duties and then everyone goes off to meet with the team leads. Growth A year ago the Church secured permanent facilities. Previously we were in a small retail space. Since then I have noticed many changes. We seem to have more regulations and they seem stricter. Perhaps It's just a matter of me getting comfortable. Switching Churches I have been thinking about switching to another church. The biggest reason is because of distance we moved further away and I would like to attend closer to home. However, I'm trying to understand the normal church process as it pertains to rules and regulations. Thank you and God bless.
  5. I started attending church in 2016 and have questions about rules and regulations. Please see below. 1. Members are required to sit towards the front. 2. Members are required to park in certain areas. 3. Strong emphasis on serving. 4. Certain serving ministries schedule without checking for availability. You are required to secure replacement if not able to make it. 5. Weekly Huddle's for people that serve an our prior to service. These Huddle's tend to be generic most of the time new info is not provided. However, we do seem to have new people coming and going so maybe that's why. 6. Several procedures to follow when serving. I'm with the ushers and it's about 3-4 pages. I'm just trying to understand if this is normal. Do most churches operate in a similar manner? Prior to 2016 I did not attend church so I'm attempting to analyze what is normal. I'm okay with structure but at times I'm not sure. About a year ago the church aquired permanent facilities. Since then they seem more strict. Thank you
