Why do Christian's believe in the trinity? The Bible doesn't teach it and the idea didnt come until 300 years after Christ ascended upto Heaven. The teachings of Christ in the book of John talk about a relationship with the Father and the Son. I know that the Bible does mention all three and that we need to do all things in the name of the Father , Son, and Holy Ghost. But I never took that to mean a trinity just because they mentioned that. I looked at it as the order that God spoke to mankind. First it was God the Father[Old Testament]. Then Jesus came.[New Testament] Then when Jesus left the Holy Spirit came.
