I can't really add much to the topic, but reading this post makes me curious on Christianity's general stance on excommunication. Like I'm familiar with Jehovahs Witnesses who have spoken about being disfellowshipped & labeled apostates. In JW belief, if you're a JW, you're not even allowed to greet someone who is disfellowshipped. If you have family members that aren't JWs, you're not supposed to talk to them. I mean, I know evangelism and proselytizing is common here and among JWs. That's just what this verse has me thinking of & curious about.
