  1. When I act humble and stupid, people are nice…Sorry, I was cautiously trying to engage without abruptly coming across as a know-it-all. The reason is… When people know that I am commissioned as a bible translator, a former theologian, teacher, speaker, etc, they get real nasty with me. Thank you for the admonition, but I promised the moderators that it would only take two times being spoken down to for me to leave, and you’re the second one on the same thread, same day. Oh, about my ‘passing thoughts…’ It’s all scripture, I removed the verse references and exercised my right to put it in my own words for the sake of brevity.
  2. I’m certain you misunderstood something I wrote… I don’t why you made this about me, but I’ll keep my thoughts to myself.
  3. This is one part of a list of guidelines for speaking aloud in an in-the-spirit (first century) assembly. We don’t have these types of “sharing revelations” gatherings in the 21st century. This instruction only applies to that type of meeting where everyone was a participant in speaking, if so inspired. It’s only about orderliness. Contextually, this only restricts married women from speaking up with public inquiry on spiritual matters with her husband present. (“…let them ask their husbands at home.”) Men, back then, were the leaders in scripture and spiritual matters; wives were not allowed to embarrass their husbands publicly as it would cause shame on them. I witnessed an example of this- A triple-degreed preacher teaching a Sunday school class when his wife interrupts him, begins speaking for him, and telling the class what he really means. This same set of rules restricts tongues “to keep silent in the congregation” if there’s no interpreter. And it encourages all to take turns speaking & sharing. (I am new to this site. I’ve had problems on other sites being stalked & bullied by people who were offended by me. If I offend you with a perspective on scripture, just thank me for sharing and I’ll get the message & move on. Please do not treat me like I need to be hanged and burned at the stake for heresy whenever I post. Thank you.)
  4. Just a passing thought… …she killed off all the prophets, and the freedom that the people gained (to escape God) was at the cost of the prophets’ blood. But, it allowed them to further pervert God’s law and use it to control God’s chosen nation and lead them, and others, into sin. Off the top of my head, I can’t think of any verse references that would parallel that. (thanks for letting me respond. I’m not sure how newbies are viewed by interrupting an in-process topic. If I’m out of line, please find a nice way to say it… if two of you are in agreement, the 2nd kindly worded reply is enough for me to dismiss myself from this thread.)
  5. It is believed by some scholars that the Masoretic text was intentionally altered by scribes/rabbis who wished to alter/remove many specific prophecies that might lead one to believe Jesus was the Messiah. They also adjusted more than 600 years of genealogy to attempt to prove Melchizedek was Noah’s son, Shem. They also removed the name that had identified someone else as Melchizedek. Is is alleged that many original scrolls were burned to prevent anyone from discovering the alterations. That may be speculation, but the older, complete manuscripts that have been found were not under the control of the rabbis & scribes. Online versions and apps alter words all the time. A number of churches have declared the Masoretic text as accurate and the final authority. Sadly for them, there’s so much to learn from the pre-altered texts.
