  1. So thankful to have someone who prays for me. I hope you have someone, too.
  2. Hello, moderator. I posted this song yesterday and it was approved, but are you able to swap the video link for the one I posted below, or should I just do a new post and you can delete the old one? I updated the video because it had some errors. Whatever is easiest for you. Thank you kindly.
  3. Here’s an unusual way that God answered one of our prayers. The fire insurance premium for my best friend Carolyn’s house skyrocketed after there were several large wildfires in our area over a few years. I’ve lived for 30+ years in the studio next door to her house. We help each other survive California. We’re both on fixed incomes and didn’t have enough money to cover the extra cost of the insurance and the property tax bill (which also increased) due at the same time. I grumbled and complained about it at first, then finally prayed. Carolyn also prayed for help. A few days later, I found a rat drowning in a 5-gallon bucket that I use to catch drips from a leaky water filter in the storage area under the garage. The poor thing must have been treading water for hours. He was exhausted, barely able to keep his nose above the water. I took the bucket outside and gently poured it out onto the ground. He lay there panting but not moving. I picked him up, rubbed his back, and held him in the sunshine to warm him up. After some time, I got a small cardboard box, filled it with paper towels, and put him in it. He still didn’t move. I didn’t want to leave him in the house, but I also didn’t want to leave him outside where other animals could get him, so I brought him back to the storage area and put the box on the floor, knowing that if he survived and regained his strength, he could easily get out of the box. I went to leave but thought I’d pet him one more time. When I did, he leaped up and started scratching at the side of the box, trying to get out. I tilted the box on its side. He staggered out like a drunk, fell over, then got up and walked a little farther between some storage boxes before stopping to clean himself. I thought that was a good sign, so I left him there and went about my day. The next day, I went back to see if he had recovered or if I would find his body. I looked where I last saw him. He wasn’t there—but something else was: two folded one-hundred-dollar bills, chewed on the edges, with a hole near the center of one. “What the heck?” I thought. I went upstairs and told Carolyn that the rat had paid me for helping him. We were amazed and had a good laugh. The next day, I checked again. When I went upstairs, Carolyn asked, “Well, did he leave you another tip?” “No, he didn’t leave me two hundred more dollars,” I said, then paused for effect... “He left eight hundred more dollars!” And it was true. I had found eight more one-hundred-dollar bills in the same spot. I couldn’t believe my eyes! These bills weren’t folded like the first ones, but each had teeth marks on one edge. A few days later, I noticed a large gift bag among the stuff in storage, near where I had found the money. One of the bottom corners had been chewed open. I went through the bag but didn’t find anything at first. It was filled with miscellaneous things like brochures and magazines that I didn’t recognize. When I went to put everything back in the bag, I saw a flash of money. Inside an envelope that had been chewed open, I found a pristine one-hundred-dollar bill. Then, on the side of the bag, I noticed the name: “Carie.” That’s what Carolyn’s parents used to call her. After checking the dates on the bills, Carolyn and I pieced together what had happened: Some months after Carolyn’s mom had passed away, her dad brought over boxes filled with her belongings, and he must have put an envelope with $1,100 in that bag. He liked doing things like that to surprise Carolyn. Since she was still grieving her mother’s death, she didn’t have the heart to go through everything at the time, so we put some of it in storage and eventually forgot all about it. There it sat for 17 years until we prayed for help with the bills. God had me rescue that rat just in the nick of time, and that rat went into that bag, pulled out the money Carolyn’s dad had left for her, and placed it where it could be found, two nights in a row. It’s incredible how God can make everything work together for our good. That money helped pay the property tax, and I was able to share this story with my family and friends, the lady at the tax office, and now with you. Thank you, God!
  4. Another one of my originals. I hope it blesses you in some way.
  5. Free will allows us to love God autonomously. It's a choice, not a line of code.
  6. If ever you feel like the world is beating you down, it may help listening to some songs by The Cathedrals. They have helped me through some tough times. They were my favorite gospel group. This is from their 1999 Farewell Celebration put on by Bill Gather. Left to right: Ernie Haase, Scott Fowler, Glen Payne, George Younce and pianist Roger Bennett.
  7. Thank you so much, Marilyn. I appreciate you saying so. Yes, you're right, a III major chord is not that common. Good ears!
  8. Sharing two songs I wrote then recorded with my band Tied to the Stone. It's classic rock style. I thank God I can still write and play and sing (ahem) at 69 years old. The first song was done in 2008, the second was finished last week. I hope they bless you in some way. Thank you. --dante
