I am very drawn to the passages that involve the carpentry trade of Jesus, as well as other passages that reference God's divine power with construction and building. I am a craftsman, and when working I often think of how God the mighty architect is so amazingly creative and the love that he pours into his works. I have heard the phrase "God is in the business of making something from nothing." Even though not Scripture, it does tell of his never ending meaningful works. I enjoy restoring old antique things, and part of the foundation of restoration is removing the debris to build something new. When I have painful times in life, I try to apply this principle that God is in the crafting process to restore something and align it with his will. “Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” – Isaiah 64:8 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10 Hebrews 3:4 “For every house has a builder, but the one who built everything is God.” Please share your experiences with how this has worked in your life or other verses in relationship to this, thanks!

Making Big Decisions
InChristsLight replied to InChristsLight's topic in Do you want to just ask a question?
Labour is not in vain in the Lord. Thinking about this, this really tells apart self will vs being of service to others. It always feels so much better doing things for others than pursuing selfishness in vain. -

"But be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." That is indeed very mighty! -

Thanks for this. I like how you said "In His Peace". This peace has been what I rely on to guide me like a compass. Even if the road less traveled seems daunting, this peace brings the courage to make the journey. Very well said, thank you very much. -
Making Big Decisions

Yes Indeed. Our situation is in regards to needing to move due to finances. I've been looking at verses regarding this. I just listened to a good sermon from in touch minestry by Charles Stanley called Waiting on the Lord. Main take away was to have Patience, Humility, Faith, and Courage to wait for God's direction. -

I've been thinking about what you said about extremely sharp clarity. When I pray I ask for clarity. I think I know what you mean with extremely sharp, it's almost like a self will projection that can have excitement attached. Sadly I feel I may run the majority of my life on that. What would be the main difference between the Holy Spirit wisdom of clarity vs extremely sharp clarity? -

Genesis 13, when Abraham and Lot part ways has been a Scripture I've been looking at regarding our moving choice. I've been trying to follow the faith of Abraham, yet when trying to find a place for multiple people with personal preferences it's becoming very apparent that our personal comforts aka climate, amenities etc are interfering. Similar to how Lot gravitated towards luxury and comfort, and we all know how that turned out lol Thanks for the wisdom and examples, it's been helpful. -
I'm curious what other Christians methods are for making really big important decisions. I have been struggling with deciding on a new place to live for 5 years. It's a complicated situation for all my family members. One sermon I heard mentioned using these steps. 1. Pray and seek God's will 2. Seek Christian council. 3. Compare wants and needs to Scripture. 3. Make the decision. Any guidance is greatly appreciated! Thanks

The 'grace' of God, what does it mean?
InChristsLight replied to Grace Aggrey-Fynn's topic in Bible Study
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Gal 5,22 I really like this verse. It shows a clear path and antidote for sin. When I have to take a look at my character defects, by pursuing one of these fruits I can focus on healing that aspect of my life to be a better Christian.- 16 replies

How Do You Know That Voice is Of God?
InChristsLight replied to Grace Aggrey-Fynn's topic in Bible Study
Thank you for making this post. I have heard a few sermons that say that the devil can't be in more than one place at a time like God. Omnipresent I think it means? In the story of Jesus being tempted it most certainly was Satan. I don't see how Satan could be talking to all of us at once. For us I think it's more along the lines of is it my mental voice of my soul, or is it God. I've been under the impression Satan can't read our mind. If our soul has some demonic affliction then our soul mind is hard to trust and it's harder to differentiate God's voice verse our soul mind. Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm very interested in understanding this, but I have never felt like Satan was talking to me in my mind. In the story of Christs temptation, I am assuming Satan approached him in the physical presence. When I hear God's voice in my mind it's a deep heartfelt wise voice. The voice says things of such profound wisdom that my earthly mind either doesn't know such things or simply don't have the knowledge of. When it's my soul mind it's often related to ego. So far that's the best I can describe it. Never heard anything audible as if outside myself, just deep within. The trick is aligning the spirit and the soul, a never ending practice. -
Thanks for putting this together, very interesting!!

This is the random verse on my Bible app today :) Psalm 19:1 KJV [1] The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament sheweth his handywork.

Thanks for the reply, this has opened several new doors of wisdom I must study!

I was reading through the book of Luke today and the 21st verse really stood out at me. The story of the widow offering all that she had, her two copper coins compared to the others donating great riches from their larger supply. It's a good reminder of the importance of humbleness and faith verse prestige and vain glory. I suppose it is hard to judge someone for giving since the act of giving is overall good. Looking back I think this is when I have felt the Holy Spirit the most, during times of spontaneous urge to either help someone or give to those in need. Thinking of this widow I can only imagine her pure faith in giving all she had. It is a very moving passage. How has this verse affected your lives or changed your perspectives?
