It was tradition that gave the Church leaders authority to ratify the Bible, they decided which books were in and which were out. There are only one or two minor practises in the Chuch which have come down directly from tradition and nowhere else. So, except for the approval of the Bible tradition is not very important today, it was in the first 3 or 4 hundred years, though. I suppose one could say that Church doctrine is what we are bound by and is the most important to a Catholic today. If you read the Baltimore Catechism you will see Bible verses that support every Catholic teaching. So really the doctrine comes straight out of the Bible and is just put into everyday situations. That's a tricky question because they are all tied together. Douay

Sorry if I'm insensitive keslc, but that picture of your kids is quite large, maybe you should use a different one or lower the resolution some. Just a suggestion, we don't all have high speed connections, Douay

Corn for one had no ancestors. Grains - wheat, rice, sorghum, maize Tubers - potato, yam (sweet potato), manioc Fruits - apple, banana, orange, kiwi, grapes, tomato Spices - pepper, sugar cane only hundreds more I don't think we could do that now. Douay

Yod- How do you know when you are saved? I hope I'm saved. The Bible tells me to trust in hope, and with Jesus on my side I'm sure I'm doing ok. Douay

I think we should all keep Christ in the center of our lives and we would have fewer questions. A lot less to worry about, too. Godspeed, Douay

If you answered this one I didn't notice. Just a reminder in case you missed it. Thanks, Douay

I think he was teaching to the whole world. He didn't get rid of Judaism, He changed it into Christianity. That's how I see it. Godspeed, Douay

I fail to understand why we think that Christians humbly praying to the Lord could not be given protection. Furthermore, if we are to think that every vision of Mary and/or Jesus to occur in the last 2000 years was Satan, why should we think that the originals weren't also?

Domestication is a lengthy process which I am not able to accept. 6-10,000 years ago people understood the genome, knew what end result they were looking for and decided to grow massive stands of an utterly useless crop for hundreds if not thousands of years in order to slowly develop a viable, domesticated crop plant. Yeah, sure. Several domesticated plants have no wild ancestors, they simply appeared 6-10,000 years ago. hmmmm Well, my question is this: People fit the definition of a domesticated species, who domesticated us? Was the causative agent of our domestication likely responsible for all other domestications?

Then why did they call it the Catholic Church in the year 100 if it didn't exist yet?
-
Yes, that verse was talking about people calling a miracle Jesus worked as demonic. Jesus said that the Holy Ghost worked the miracle for them so that they could see the truth. He said you can call me a liar and that is fine but to call the work of the Holy Ghost demonic is to commit a sin which will not be forgiven. I say that the Catholic Church is the work of the Holy Ghost as the Bible says that the Holy Ghost will lead and guide her through the ages. So to call her demonic would be saying that the work of the Holy Ghost is demonic. But, I am not saying that God punishes those who don't have knowledge of what they are doing. I can't know if someone had particular knowledge or not, so I am in no position to judge. I can assume, however, when things appear a certain way, that they are how they seem. That is merely natural logic. If it quacks its a duck, etc. In the Bible it says that they were shown a miracle, or obvious evidence was presented to them. That is what I am talking about.

And WE didn't exist until the 1500's right?

So is it necessary to be a Christian and believe in Jesus if you want to be saved?
-
'Lady' C Well, do you want to talk about protestantism now? What sect are you part of? Are you trying to say that your little schism has not changed over the years? Well, answer this riddle for me: What religion has been here since the time of Christ as one fold(dat's in der Bible) and where is the proof of their history?
-
It would depend on the level of proof afforded them by God. If they had seen the truth and rejected it and called it Satan's then yes. That is the Bible verse, paraphrased.

By definition not all edicts are infallibile. Only a few have been. Most Church law does not fall into that category. Just because something doesn't satisfy the requirements doesn't mean it isn't 100% true. Some things are meant to change also.

Whether you like the direction it has taken or not the Catholic Church is the same body of believers today that it was in Apostolic times, making it the work of the Apostles and of God, to call God's work the work of Satan, is that offense. I don't think merely being opposed to the doctrines of the Catholic Church is what we are talking about here. Now, if you realize that some of them are true, and then still reject them, you might be getting closer.

This is called a bulletin board. All of the topics kind of rotate off when people stop posting in them, but the ones that are pinned at the top do not. Pinned=fixed.

If atheists don't believe in God, why are they always mad at him? Are they completely bonkers?
-
Yes, any time you want to rant about the Catholic Church you may now say that you were once apart of the Catholic Church.
-
Jesus said to say the Our Father, but did he say only once? If you were going to pray ceasingly as do some Catholic monks, do you think you could go 16 hours without repeating yourself. Oh what was that, I thought I saw something. Ahhh, it was that absurd, derisory, attempt to deride Catholic truth evaporating into thin air.
