  1. I once started reading the apocryphal work, The Book of Enoch.

I stopped reading it at a certain point and haven't been able to

    force myself to finish it.

Why? It explains how the fallen angels came down and taught

mankind all kinds of bad tricks, weapons, war, witchcraft, drugs,

and guess what else? Yes, makeup!!

Polygamy was practiced throughout Bible times, and NEVER CONDEMNED. It is only forbidden in Scripture for one who wishes to be a Christian Bishop.

Not so. Jesus, in his discussion of divorce, made His opinion clear with one man, one woman.

  3. Is speaking in tongues used today?  What I mean, I know that speaking in tongues was done on the day of Pentecost, but did that "pass away" then?  I have a friend who speaks in tongues, and I have seen others do it.  I have heard some say that we do not speak in tongues today, and that today it is either "man-made" or the work of the devil.  I have talked to several people about this, and they say they feel very spirtual in doing this, and believe is the work of the Lord.  Others say that it serves no purpose and edifies only themselves.  I am confused and would like to know what scripture backs up that we do not speak in tongues today (if that be).  Please explain! Thanks!

My understanding; the day of Pentecost; it was other languages and different nationality understood what they were saying, which is different from what Paul teaches on.

Speaking in tongues;prayer language; is praying thru angels which edtifies us not the church, and I think that is what Paul is talking about, George. I , too get confused and have changed thoughts. One penticostal church I attended said that when we receive the baptism of the HS we automatically speak in tongues; I do not have my bible handy for the scripture they use. I disagree. I feel we have the ablility to have all the gifts of the Holy Spirit; we are to pray to possess all of the gifts.

  5. Everyone please go to citizenlink.org. It is full of information regarding both candidates.

I look at their past record,

    Bush:

    Against same sex marriages,

Against stem cell research in unborn babies

    against abortions

Follows through with what he say's whether or not I agree with; or if it is popular with the voters

    Kerry;

voted to go to war; now against

    for same sex marriages

    for stem cell research

voted against the Laci law; for a person to be tried for 2 murders when a pregnant woman is murdred

votes for women's right to choose abortion

God will allow us put in office whom ever we vote in; Look what he did with Saul in 2Sam,

My vote goes to the person who follows GOD's law or at least is close to it.

isn't it amazing when we break down the walls that we put up against other people...we actually are kind and nice. Thank you for starting this thread John! 'Forgive them Father for the know NOT what they do"! I love you all. Thank you John and Kay and Wisdom for making me feel very welcome here REGARDLESS...it shows TRUE CHARITY in your hearts! 7. Today's Scripture:

Philippians 4:11,12 Paul's testimony written in prison: 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content. 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to be abound. Everywhere and in all thing I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

Paul was locked in prison. He still had contentment in our LORD. Depression can feel like a prison. I challenge everyone to have contentment and joy in our lord during your valley days.

He was afflicted with some disease in his side, and he walked so closely with JESUS. Which tells me that JESUS allows us to have trials illness and afflictions.

POSITIVE comments and encouragement is welcomed

  8. You guy have such cute pets. My kitty Maxie poses for her mommy. She stretches on her side, then her back while putting her head back because she knows her mommy can't resist petting her under her chin. She eats off of my plate. I cute pieces of meat and put it to one side of my dish and she knows it's for her and never touches mine. She's a well behaved kitty.

She also likes playing "nosey" with me. Also "snuggles" and "string time". She likes putting her head on my chest covering up her eyes and then I pet her cheeks. She likes being in the dark. I make a tunnel for her with my comforter and she likes to hide from me. She also hides in plastic bags. She follows me everywhere - or should I say LEAD me. She walks in front of me and anticipates where I'm going to walk.

Then we play hide and go seek. If I squat down and stare at her, she knows it's playtime and she runs. Then I catch up to her, then she chases me but she doesn't do anything once she catches me.

I baby her, she's my baby. I'd put a pic up if I were at work. (at a friend's house now)

    Carol

THEY LOVE US UNCONDITIONALLY! Better than any m-n will LOL ;) I love hearing about them. aren't they great. My Doodle is my baby, too. SO I kow what you mean!

  9. While there are people who overplay their depression, we must keep in mind that people who are chronically depressed have a chemical imbalance that they simply cannot fix. Others have situations that will get them extremely depressed. We can't be too judgemental on issues like this.

    AMEN SUPER

  10. AllforJesus,

Thank you for your view points!

I am a case worker for developmentally disabled adults. Most have a secondarty mental illness; Bipolar for example. THEY DO NOT CHOOSE NOT TO FOLLOW GOD FOR THE MOST PART>I choose to witness and love them, hoping they want just a little of what Jesus has given me. I have been threatened, yelled at and generally seen some wild behaviors in my day. So GOD has a plan for us all. THey have taught me how to be gentle, loving, firm, kind, and accepting of all walks. JESUS IS LORD.

I will look up my scripture and post later.

THIS THREAD IS MEANT FOR PEOPLE TO COME IN AND FIND HOPE IN THEIR SITUATION>

  14. I have a doodle dog. What is a doodle dog you ask? He is a 10lb dauchshund and poode mixed. He has the long body and personality of the wiener dog; but has to be trimmed like the poodle. He is so very sweet and confused. He folows me all around. He will follow me to sit on the dock, feed the horses, yet hates it outside. He truly thinks I am his mama. We are currently staying with my sister and her husband (long story) and they tease him telling him that he is a dog wanna be and that he really is a cat. Well, today I caught him poopooing in the cat litter box :x: :x:

    Can you imagine?

I wanna hear about your animals, maybe pix? I hear thru the grapevine there is going to be a pug in the Worthy family soon

Looking forward to hearing from ya'll

  15. I'm a Christian and I go to church every sunday... but I've found myself in a deep slump lately... I think God is testing my faith.

To make this worse... I was listening to the radio (I don't want to say the show) and there was this a representative of this prophet on whose religion is based on extraterrestrial life (I don't want to mention his name either... but I can give it if I need to). He gave evidence that he thought would prove that his religion was real and I kind of chuckled to myself... then he basically bashed "religions" and "other ways of thinking" as being rediculous and conluded his argument by mentioning how much meaningless warfare in this past and now is based on religion.

Okay... what bothers me was that the prophet has been "seeing" into the future since the 50's. In the 80's he wrote a book that predicted the falling of the World Trade Center followed by the destruction of America. He also precicted the commit (can't remember the name right now) coming near the earth in September 2004. He also predicted many things in the not so distant future that really kinda upset me.

Now, I know this can easily be some kind of hoax but it really bothers me. How could anyone see into the future without the Holy Spirit. How? How? How?

I am so depressed... the only time I feel really good is when I'm a church singing praises and hanging out with my Christian friends. My pastor described a feeling similar to this when he was a young Christian... of the world trying to harden his heart. He said in his most recent sermon that these feelings of spiritual slumps are God testing you so that you can be more like him in the future.

So this is what I think this slump is... but I can get really scared and depressed when I'm alone. I pray to the lord every night... crying that I won't fall off completely.

Oh man... there's more too... my senior year starts in 3 weeks and I'm out of school soon... and I need to have full trust in the lord because I desprately need direction. Can someone please give me advice or words of encouragement. I feel like I need more help in getting through this.

    AHH sweetie

Jesus loves you all the time. Try reading Psalms and listening to praise and worship songs.

How can someone predict the future without the HOLY SPIRIT? the enemy is a great mimicker. and he likes people to think they are using GOD"S power.

    Honey,

there is a thread on depression, please read it. Some of us are trying to post something each day for inspiration. We would love to have you join

    Love :il:
