  1. Yes Sue. At first I wasn't sure if people would see the correalation of the Tsunami but praise the Lord for the watchmen. The first wave of the Tsunami is just water, the second wave of the Tsunami comes with cars, homes, and trees. The second wave does heavy damage. I also had that dream about the KKK riders pulling black children in chariots. What was impressed on me strongly was the number two in that there were exactly two black children in each chairiot. http://www.worthyboards.com/index.php?showtopic=35004&st=10 But praise the Lord... "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV). ...copy and pasted this from you

    Prophecy

Question: what do you mean by "Jesus didn't make any fresh prophecy of salvation"? -Jesus WAS the fulfillment of the prophecy of salvation. There was no new prophecy of salvation which was spoken in the Old Testament regarding the salvation PLAN. The New Testament is the fulfillment of this prophecy. Question: What about Paul, Peter, James, or the other Apostles who brought His message to the nations? Wasn't it prophecy when the salvation message (called a "mystery" by Paul) was revealed? If it stops at John what would you call what was Paul doing? -They were revealing the salvation plan of God. No one has said it wasn't prophecy, please read the message again carefully. The salvation plan of God stopped at John the Baptist. "For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John" (Matt.11:13). So there are now New Testament prophets who do not make any fresh prophecy on the salvation plan of God. This was already done by the OT prophets and if one should prophesy as such he/she would be a lying prophet. We still have not covered the New Testament believers prophesying and New Testament prophets. We will get ot that.... Caps are for emphasize not yelling or being rude or whatever.

    Prophecy

My premise is simply to keep things on topic. I'm trying to stay away from ad hoc debates which throw the topic way off from the OP. The reasons are very clear....you and I have experienced this in this thread and other ones as well. I thought I discussed this with you through PM...or in secret. ....please read what I wrote again. I said I don't hold or expect anyone to abide by this but clearly since I wrote it...I will abide by it. For the most part this is what I (emphasize on I) will do. For others, I know that this is not totally practical and that this is a public board which only needs to abide by the rules of this forum. That is why it's simply a favor for me. But knowing people like you this can not always be the case. You are still free to do whatever you want. Yod, I see why you would mention that my premise would be like a monologue. That is actually not what I am after; although, after reading what I wrote again, it seems that way. What I envisioned was a thread where the comments and questions stuck strictly to the original point. I was expecting disagreements and agreements alike but I personally was planning on responding to them through PM. Of course, there needs to be other opinions and responses to them but I hope they can be limited to the OP. I know that's not very possible because people will respond to the opinions on their opinions and so on. But I'm hoping they would know to PM when the posts become ad hoc....maybe I should define that "ad-hoc". ad hoc- 1 a : concerned with a particular end or purpose <an ad hoc investigating committee> b : formed or used for specific or immediate problems or needs <ad hoc solutions> 2 : fashioned from whatever is immediately available But sincerely, no big deal....feel free to post.
  4. We do not need to fear or be anxious about where or what is going to happen. We are save within the ark, the Church. PSALM 23 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, [a] I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. The Lord is our shepherd. We do not lack in anything, our Lord Jesus provides us with everything. Jesus leads us into green pastures of health and waters of rest. In our fallen and disrupted state he restores our soul. Our being is just so corrupted when we wallow in sin but we have no righteousness of our own in the first place. We just have to take on Christ again AND walk again in the path of righteousness. I will fear no evil! Jesus is with us. We do not need to fear anything because Jesus is with us. The enemies warring against the Body of Christ will be layed before table. 2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak So brothers and sisters, because we have the Spirit of Faith in us let us speak and declare these things. Then "Surely goodness and love will follow me ALL the days of my life...". This is a promise if Jesus Christ is our shepard and we follow Him. When the things of this world come in and worry you meditate on these words. You do not need to put effort into believing...Just speak it because it is through the spirit of faith that we have faith. In other words, just keep speaking the Lord's promise over and over again. This is the Lord's promise. We will dwell in the house of the Lord forever, the ark that is safe from the death's water.
  5. Hello brothers and sisters, Thank you for being watchful Sue. "All things work out for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28). I feel we need to see what God is showing us through this. I also feel that this is the attack on the America that will give Her the reality of Her real condition. We do not need to look at al-Qaida. Though we cannot change the outward situation, we can change the inward situation. There needs to be a change on the inside of our lives...not what's happening around us. This is what the Lord is after. Without what is coming, there will be no change in the Church in America. There is a reason this is coming; it is like a reality check. As survivors, this is a not a disaster small enough where we can say "Oh praise the Lord, I made it out alive. God shall avenge me." in a false humility. This will force the people on their knees and in true repentance they will seek the Lord's will and not their own concepts. Brothers and sisters, the Lord our Father has plans to prosper us not to harm us. We are on a boat in a river. There is a boulder in front of us. It is too big, we cannot get out of its way. But there are two ways to pray. We can pray for the boulder to be removed or we can pray for the Lord to increase the flow of water so that we may be able to flow over it. If we pray for the boulder to be removed what have we gained? Have we not been traveling this way for a long time already; a slow steady stream with no obstacles in our way? We should pray for the latter; that the Lord may increase the flow of water that we may overcome the boulder. In this manner we truly have gained something. It will be a struggle but after we make it over our words will be with more praise than if the boulder was simply removed and everything stayed the same. We should no longer be ashamed of Jesus's powerful Name. When we are in danger we should just call out loud "Jesus". No longer shall it be used in vain; it must be hallowed. Today I was watching something on the tsunami. There was an account of a survivor. When he saw the wave coming he got his family, his children and wife, on the roof. The wave was about 25-35 feet high. The wave past and they were all ok. The waters went back to the sea carrying cars, trees, and homes into the sea. They went back down to the ground. Yet they did not know a second wave was coming. This time the wave carried in it all that stuff -metal, wood, shrapnel. By that time, it was too late for the family to get back to safety. The man lost his wife and children. I think this will be similar to the attacks in that the second one is more furious. Finally, brothers and sisters do not lose heart. 2 Corinthians 4:16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day

    Prophecy

Hello dear brothers and sisters, Continuing on the "Meaning of Prophecy" here is the second excerpt from Brother Job on the first lesson. Before we begin I need to mention the following... For the sake of keeping this thread's integrity (or keeping it from going off topic, getting messy, disorganized etc), I will be responding to your comments to me through PM. As a favor I ask you would do the same if someone makes a comment refering to your post. Questions, on the otherhand, can be answered in public but when there is a disagreement that requires further discussion it should be reverted to PMing. Don't let pride or keeping up with public appearances get in the way. Are we after the truth or after public appearances? The reason for this is because I had planned to post on-going lessons on Prophecy from brother Job here. When several discussions are going at once within the same thread it makes this hard to follow. The main thing is to just stay on topic and when disagreements arise those should be taken into PMing. We know in our hearts when it is no longer concerning the topic at hand but when it's "winning the argument". These posts throw the thread off topic because a lot of it is ad hoc. In that situation, the original points of the topic are relegated to the back and each person is now just refering to each other's recent "counter" point. I don't hold anyone here to follow this but I would prefer that this be done. But it's mostly what I will be doing. Thanks. You may or may not agree with anything here. But you must always yearn for truth and understanding. Lord jesus, grace us. Amen. Prophecies - Old Testament Vs New Testament The Old Testament reveals the salvation plan of God. The New Testament fulfills the salvation plan of God. The prophets of the Old Testament were the spokespersons of God for revealing the salvation plan of God. The prophets of the New Testament execute the salvation plan of God. "For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John" (Matt.11:13). In fact, the prophecies concerning the salvation plan of God came to an end with the ministry of John the Baptist who revealed Christ as the Lamb of God to the Israel. However, the Bible Prophecy concerning prophetic events continued to be revealed through Jesus Christ and through His apostles who wrote the Gospels and the Epistles. Since the salvation plan of God had already been revealed through the Old Testament prophets, Jesus as the Prophet did not make any fresh prophecy in this regard. However, He made prophecies concerning prophetic events that would take place. He spoke words of comfort and of promises. He also spoke words of condemnation against the Pharisees and Scribes, and condemned the sin. He also conveyed timely messages of God to Israel. The Bible Prophecy concerning revelation of the salvation plan of God came to an end with the ministry of John the Baptist. Fulfillment of the salvation plan began with the birth of Christ. All the Old Testament prophecies concerning the ministry of Christ right from His birth to His ascension to God's right hand were fulfilled. The word of prophecy in Gen.3:15 concerning the seed of a woman was fulfilled with the birth of Christ as mentioned in Col.4:4. The word of prophecy in Ps.68:18 regarding Christ's ascension to God's right hand was fulfilled as per Mark 16:19. The Bible Prophecy concerning the salvation plan of God which had begun in the Book of Genesis was partly fulfilled at the Calvary. The remaining part of the Bible Prophecy concerning the final redemptive plan of God would be fulfilled after the second advent of Jesus Christ when those who would be alive and those who are dead in Christ would put on immortality (I Cor.15:51-58). No prophet under the New Testament shall further add to the salvation plan of God which had been revealed once and for all under the Old Testament. Neither shall he add to nor shall he delete what the Old Testament prophets spoke. If he adds or takes away any of the words of prophecy spoken by the Old Testament prophets, he will be a lying prophet. These days, some prophets claim to be end-time prophets and their claim is not scripturally correct. God has revealed all the truths to us in the Bible Prophecy which came to an end in the isle of Patmos when John received the special revelations from God. There are no such end-time truths to be revealed to such end-time prophets. Of course, in these last days, the New Testament prophets get revelations on the Bible Prophecy which had already been given to the Church. The New Testament prophets only interpret the Bible Prophecy and are not supposed to give any other prophecy which contradicts the Bible Prophecy. Through the revelations and visions received by them from the Holy Spirit, they only confirm the Bible Prophecy that takes place at the end-time. These so-called end-time prophets should not and cannot proclaim any message which is outside the written Word of God. Leaders of certain cults proclaim other ways of salvation than what the Old Testament prophets proclaimed. They are indeed false prophets. The Bible Prophecy concerning prediction of future events which had begun in the Garden of Eden was finally revealed to John the apostle and prophet, when he was in the island of Patmos. The Book of Revelation was given to the Church through John as the last book of the Bible Prophecy concerning future events about the end of this world and about the final redemptive plan of God. Revelation is the book of consummation. In it, the divine program of redemption is brought to fruition. Although there are numerous prophecies in the Old Testament books, the Gospels and Epistles, Revelation is the only New Testament book that focuses primarily on prophetic events. This book is an unveiling of the character and program of God. It is also known as the Apocalypse, a transliteration of the word apocalypses, meaning unveiling. No prophet under the New Testament is supposed to add unto these things or take away from the words of the book of this prophecy ( Rev.22:18-19). The Bible Prophecy concerning prediction is still being fulfilled. Though many of such prophecies had been literally fulfilled before and during the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ, certain words of prophecies are yet to be fulfilled. John the apostle and prophet did not prophesy on the salvation plan of God in the isle of Patmos. He only received a revelation of Christ Jesus and about the end-time events through visions given to him by the Holy Spirit. He recorded in the Revelation what the Holy Spirit commanded him to write to the churches and what he saw in the visions. However, the Old Testament prophets prophesied until John the Baptist. They prophesied during the reigns of the kings of Israel and Judah and during the Babylonian captivity of the Jews. The Bible Prophecy contains words of divine comfort. Though many prophetic books under the Old Testament were directed toward the peoples of Israel and Judah, yet the same words of comfort are applicable to the Church, the spiritual Israel. For instance, let us read the words of comfort in the 54 th chapter of Isaiah. Though Isaiah spoke these words of comfort to the Israel, all these words of prophecy can be claimed by us under the New Covenant. The Bible Prophecy also contains words of exhortation, words of condemnation of sin and of divine judgment on the disobedient and backsliding Israelites. We should not conclude that these words of warning and of condemnation are meant only for the then nations of Israel and Judah that existed during the Old Testament period, and not for us. The words of warning against idolatry and sins spoken by the prophets to the Israel and to the Gentile nations that existed during the Old Testament period still hold good even today for the whole world. What we do nowadays is pick up conveniently certain words of promises and of comfort but ignore the words of God's condemnation of and judgment on sin.
  7. hello sister Sue, Acutally, i don't think this represents you but is symbolic of the fallen Church. The Lord uses His faithful servants to represent the fallen condition of His people. For instance, prophet Ezekial had to lay on His side for nearly a year I think to show the iniquity of the house of Isreal. He was also told to cook food with animal dung. I know that your messages are not watered down. I believe your dream is representing the iniquities of the Church. I do not think this was a personal dream....in this case there is no need to share it with the body...and it would apply more to you than the Church. I believe this dream is for the Church and so does not really represent you at all.
  8. Hello Sue, The following is an interpretation given by sister Sherry of your dream about your son. Couldn't find the original thread but the quotes were from your post in "More wierd dreams". Much grace be given to us. My comments: The house is the church the tsunami is God's judgment headed for the church your son represents the young generation that you must reach before the Tsunami ie.. Gods judgment

    Prophecy

Yod, I think I wasn't clear or you misunderstood what I was trying to explain. There were OT prophets in the past...now there are NT prophets today. That was what I was trying to illustrate with my comparison of the OT and the NT. I didn't mean me brother. I understand why the ten commandments still apply when we are under grace and why we can still eat pork when the Law says we can't. I understand this. I'm trying to use this as an example of what I'm dealing with in regards to those who do not see that the OT prophet is different from the NT prophet. So you understand why the 10 commandments apply and why we can still eat pork right? Well, explain this to someone who doesn't understand that. It's not that straightforward all the time. It's not clear cut all the time either. This is JUST an example. This is what I'm dealing with when people do not see that the OT prophets are different from the NT prophets. And you still chose not to PM me....
  10. the only major highway out of Beaumont leads to Houston. For the people trying to go north (the only sensible direction) there is a one lane road. It took 26 hours to make a 4 hour trip for my friends/family not necessarily. They evactuated. Of course the "veering" was of God. Who else? But God didn't listen to somebody that day or it would have not hit a populated area at all....like Winnie TX maybe? But let's flip the question around...are you saying that since more people are in Houston, He ignored the saints of Beaumont's prayers? (that is a rhetorical question) I've come to the conclusion that you just want the last word in everything and you're just being ornery. Hurricane Rita initially category 5 became just category 3 or 2. It's not about where the hurricane hit but that God HAD MERCY and spared lives. I didn't want this to get into a very very needless debate but just showing that when things are about to happen and we pray and petition for it God will have MERCY as well. Just like God did with the people Jonah prophesized to. That was simply the point. And I still do not see your purpose here. In the end this is what I come to...whatever I say you MUST find a way to disagree just because I didn't agree with you one time.

    Prophecy

My purpose in mentioning "Do we still live by the Law of the old Covenant? Do we still need to sacrifice animals to atone for our sins?" was to attempt to convey how the life under the Old Covenant is different from the life under the New Covenant. To straighten somethings out first...Jesus's blood DID NOT ATONE our sins...Atonement means to just cover up. Jesus TOOk away our sins. It is very obvious to us that we do not live the same way as they did under the Old Covenant. When Jesus came and fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Covenant there was no longer the same Covenant but a new one. THIS WAS FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD for all those who would believe INTO CHRIST. We are Spiritual Israel. That is how the New Covenant includes us. I was trying to convey what was obvious..... In the OT there were priests who would have to go yearly into the holy of holies for our sins. Now in the NT (today) we have one high-priest (Jesus Christ) in which we can go to in our spirit (which is the holy of holies now for Jesus indwells now our spirit...1 Cor 6:17). In the OT they had to sacrifice an animal only to atone for sins (cover up). Now in the NT the blood from Christ (the Lamb) completely takes away our sin. In the OT they lived by the law. Now in the NT we live by the law of grace which doesn't void the law but frees us from it. In the OT the Spirit of God did not yet indwell man so there was no Gift of the Holy Spirit. The prophet in those days spoke directly from the Spirit of God thus there was the authority to say "Thus saith the Lord". Now in the NT the Spirit of God indwells all those who believe. And each one is given a gift according to the Spirit's measure. But because we are one in spirit with the Lord there is no need for us to say "Thus saith the Lord". The Lord is one with our spirit...He is not outside of us. Brothers and sisters, the prophets of the Old Testament are no longer here. Try looking for one and you will either fail or find a false one. It's hard for me to explain but hopefully I will get to this in a better way soon. But you see...it's not easy to understand just like brothers and sisters now do not understand why the ten commandments still apply when we are under the law of grace or vice versa...they don't understand why they are allowed to eat pork when the Law says you can't. We understand how this works but it is not easy explaining to one who doesn't. This is what i'm dealing with now so offer me much grace. And I remember...I talked about this matter before in http://www.worthyboards.com/index.php?showtopic=35082&st=20 The Spirit of Truth guide you. The reason I would prefer that this be done through PM is so that it doesn't mess up this thread as I'm going to post other lessons I'm receiving from brother Job. It's just hard to keep things organized...as it is this really starting to tangent off to something else. If you are so concerned about keeping public appearances we could continue this in another public thread if you do not wish to do it through PM.
  12. Actually, I believe it was a lot easier to evacuate Beaumount than Houston. I do not believe you understood the situation correctly. I live in Austin, Texas and my relatives live in Houston and I had a friend whose relatives lived in Beaumont. The traffic crisis was a big situation and many were still stuck near Houston because of it. The population of Houston is 1,953,631. The population of Beaumont is 113,866. The reason people had to spend days on the road was because of the sheer volume. IF RITA HIT HOUSTON there would be a guarantee of lost of life. Yod, what are you trying to say? That the veering of hurricane Rita wasn't of God? That the prayers of the saints were not heard by God?

    Prophecy

but God is. If they claim to speak for Him, they'd better be 100% accurate. The prophets under the Old Covenant are different from the prophets under the New Covenant which is today. It's not obvious but it is there. (With the following I'm not implying either a yes or a no but ask yourself these questions) Do we still live by the Law of the old Covenant? Do we still need to sacrifice animals to atone for our sins? Many more questions but it is very obvious that the old covenant and the new covenant are very different livings. The old covenant was for physical Israel and the new covenant is also for Israel. But it is not for a physical Israel but a spiritual Israel...the Body of Christ, the Church. Yod, the prophet you are looking for is the OC (Old Covenant) prophet. There is no such thing just like there is no such thing as a priest who must enter the tabernacle every year into the Holiest of Holies. When one comes and acts like an OC prophet then something is clearly wrong. NO ONE SHOULD CLAIM TO SPEAK FOR GOD. However, this was what the OC prophets had the authority to do. The prophet today however is LEAD by God in spirit by the Holy Spirit. If one should prophesy it is done in their own words and not necessarily in "thus saith the Lord". One who acts like an OC prophet today is extremely questionable. Concerning foretelling of coming events...Prophecy can be personal words of prophecy to individuals. It can be very specific such as refering to a date when you will receive something. Obviously such a personal word cannot be found in the Word of God however, God has used this servant to speak His (the Lord's) word to this individual. It seems you can't get over prophecy meaning foretelling of events to come. Or more specifically the miraculous aspect of prophecy...It is very edifying when a brother comes to me while I'm in a tough situation and he shares what the Lord has revealed to him regarding my situation. Though this brother does not know my situation or much about me he is able to give me a word that hits me very specifically. When I wasn't able to share or even know what I was going through it was very edifying for someone else to know and speak words that gave me hope, strength and encouragement. Yod, if you want to discuss this further please PM me. As I have already mentioned my feelings about this fellowship I would just like to see where you stand.
  14. Wow, there's a lot of communication going on...it would be easier with an Instant Messenger... Yod, I quoted my own dream again. The veering of hurricane Rita was something prophesied. I'm not sure what you are trying to convey here but the thing is there was no loss of life. I personally do not know what people were praying for regarding hurricane Rita but I do know that it was the Lord's mercy that He at least veered off hurricane Rita and specifically that there was no loss of life. It's not about how important a city is but it's about the lives of people. I believe many lives were spared.
  15. You say you neither "tested" nor "despised" anything...you just had a question. Why is it then you FIRST declare "These 'prophesies' are hardly anything new."? Are these prophecies hardly anything new? Show us how. CFS wrote about a big storm and the clouds looking like blood. Staying off the water etc. That is why I said it was nothing new. Revelations tells us the the sky will look like blood. Everything in the water will die. Big storms etc. I see what you are saying. However, what revelation speaks of occurs at the end-time. Today I do not think there can be such ones as "end-time" prophets for this has been spoken in Revelation. As long as it confirms Revelation then it is bibilically sound. However, when one should speak of judgement that is coming NOW it is quite different. I have had a dream of Rita where people from Houston would be rushing north and there would be a lot of traffic. Yet later it was prophesied that Rita would not hit Houston. As you know the words of the prophets of God were right. Rita steered clear of Houston which was TOTALLY UNEXPECTED BY METEOROLOGISTS. Just because someone is prophesying of Judgement does not automatically mean they are refering to the End-Times. In this manner these "prophecies" which you seem to be refering to are not "hardly anything new". Rather it is meant for us now though it could be we are nearing the End-times. Nevermind...yod explained it already... Hey Yod, I'm not sure if you were refering to me but is this what you are trying to say.... "A prophecy (or rhema) cannot contradict logic..." Are you refering to the dream I had regarding Hurricane Rita and people from Houston fleeing north? Actually that did happen. People did evacuate Houston and there was real bad traffic to the point where people spent days on the road. However, there were some who stayed behind and many of those in Christ prayed for the Lord to remove Rita. Rita on the day it was suppose to hit suddenly veered east...something not calculated. So it was through the prayers of the many saints that God did this. If people did not pray Houston as we know it may be destroyed as of now. However, because of the petition of the many faithful saints it was diverted. Likewise, we can exercise the same thing in this time. Heed the warnings and pray!

    Prophecy

I don't know how to quote people with that quote thing so it's messy but just try to read it. I am trying the quotes now... You are very confused about what a prophet of today is; it is NOTHING like the OLD TESTAMENT PROPHETS. But before I touch on that let me reply to your responses.... Well, the thread does contain Biblical references. Saying something like this is like saying "I'll grow and learn in Jesus but I will not listen to what other people say since I have my bible. " That means you have no need of going to church or having coporate bible study right? Yod, you are confused about this....did these people die because these "prophets" predicted the future or because they told them to DO SOMETHING? Now refer to the next response..... ....Are you not TELLING people what TO DO here???? Wasn't it that the people who died under Jim Jones or Gyhana obeyed what Jim or Gyhana told them??? Didn't these people Do what they were TOLD to do....witnessing (giving a testimony to the truth), advising on how you should follow (to follow...), telling the will of God....are these not telling people what to do whereas telling a future event is just that...telling a future event? Finally This shows me that you still lack knowledge of the gift of prophecy. Firstly, no prophet of today can be infalliable. In fact, I was just about to type that when replying to Rania. This was what I was about to write but got lazy and stopped....well, I guess it's for this purpose... The Old Testament Prophets were different from the NT prophets in that they were infalliable in their speaking. There Words made up the Bible. Today the prophets Words are not on the same level as the bible in that it can add or take away from the Word. Yod, today...prophets do not need to be named nor must they be 100% infalliable. And I know a prophet by name...Job Anabalagan...but he is just another servant of Christ like me. Neither of us are infalliable. "Everything we need to know is in the bible..." I touched on this matter in some thread here. Can't remember where...i'll put it here when i find it. "hear what I am not saying. There are prophets among the body...but I doubt you would know their names." I agree. But why are you saying that to me? Why would I want to know their names? The prophet of today does not really need to claim that he is a prophet of God. He is just part of the body of Christ.

Hello Rania, That's exactly right. Prophecy in no means can add or take away from the Word. It ALWAYS confirms it.

    Prophecy

hello yod, That's right...what prophesying comes down to is simply speaking for the Lord or speaking forth the Lord. However, this is very general and is not enough for us to recognize prophecy more deeply. There is a settle difference between prophesying and prophecy. The objective here is to recognize what PROPHECY is. There is a clear distinction between exhortation, encouragement, teaching, word of knowledge, and prophecy. It is in this time now that I think recognizing prophecy is needed. Yod, I don't think it's quite right to say that "this is not the purpose of prophecy". There is actually a thread started by brother Rod here entitled "Purpose of Prophecy" for more info. Prediction of the future is a more miraculous aspect of prophecy but is not associated with witchcraft. In fact, it is the least harmful because it can be tested by EVERYONE. Simply seeing if it comes true or not is a test. People are confused about this aspect....many people say this is harmful. If it is wrong how can it harm us? If it motivates us to repent and seek God then what harm has it done us if it is not true? Rather what is harmful is the other aspects as you have mentioned yod.... "Whenever you are witnessing you are prophecying. Whenever you are advising your children on how to follow the Lord, you are prophecying. Whenever you are telling a co-worker the will of God on a matter, you are prophecying." If we are not right with the Lord in Spirit this is more harmful than prediction of future events. Also yod, you mentioned "Be very careful when a "prophet" starts telling you the future. 99.999% of the time they are not speaking for God." Please tell me how you know this.

    Prophecy

Hello dear brothers and sisters, These are just meditations on the meaning and purpose of prophecy. Feel free to comment or ask questions. I believe this is the time to start recognizing such a thing. The Lord is moving and we need to know exactly where He is leading and what He is doing. Let us walk the narrow path with the Word lighting each step of the way. In prayer and mediation on the Word may we receive a vision. May we then find understanding in this vision. Here are some lessons on prophecy I'm receiving from brother Job Anbalagan Glory of His Cross... Biblically speaking, the term "prophecy" covers the following: - Revelation of God and His salvation plan - Revelation of divine secrets/future events - Condemnation of sins and iniquities - Pronouncement of divine judgment on sins and iniquities - Divine comfort - Divine guidance - Divine promises - Conveying of timely messages of God The Bible is a book of prophecy. One may normally tend to believe that the word "prophecy" in the Bible means only prediction of the future. It is not so because it performs all the above functions. "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost" (II Pet.1:21). The Bible Prophecy was revealed in the Old Testament by the Holy Ghost through the holy prophets. We tend to think that the prophecies came forth only through the prophetic books like Isaiah, Jeremiah, etc. It is not so. We should bear in mind that the prophecies started flowing forth right from the Garden of Eden. In the third chapter of the Book of Genesis, God cursed the serpent and pronounced judgment on Eve and Adam. These were the words of prophecy which came directly from the mouth of God. Prophecy is not just "prediction of future events" as denoted in the dictionary but covers a lot more for us in the Church. The entire Bible as well is a book of prophecy. These can be prophecies for us relating to our current situation. Prophecy encompass revelations in the Word, condemnation, comfort, guidance, promises, and timely messages for the Church.
  21. You say you neither "tested" nor "despised" anything...you just had a question. Why is it then you FIRST declare "These 'prophesies' are hardly anything new."? Are these prophecies hardly anything new? Show us how.
  22. I am quoting 1 Thessalonians 5:20,21 when I say do not "despise" but "test". 1 Thessalonians 5:20,21 20 Do not despise prophecies. 21 Test all things; hold fast what is good. You had a question...it was directly answered. I did not take any other routes as you are trying to convey. No, what you are offended by is that you think I am accusing you of whether you have despised prophecy or not. The examples you have provided after this indicate that I "answered your questions in a different roundabout, judgemental way". No, I didnt...I answered your question straightforward. Now that you understand prophecy; In the end I asked you that question: [Giaour, "do not despise prophecy" rather "prove and test it". Are you despising or testing?] If you feel that I have been accusing you then are you willing to pray for me? Fellowship with the Lord and see what He reveals concerning this matter.
  23. That's all wrong...prophesy is NOT primarily for the unbeliever. 1 Corinthians 14:22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers. I do not think unbelievers can receive a personal word of prophecy. Prophecy is primarily for the Church. It seems people are confused about the purpose of prophecy. Many people say, "The bible already tells us everything so why do we need man to tell us what will happen?". Since the bible does everything do we need teachers, evangelist, pastors? Brothers and sisters, most Christians do not understand that the person without the gift of prophecy cannot see the prophetic significance in the Word AT the right time. You see, the prophetic books in the Old Testament (Isaiah, Micah, Jeremiah, etc) can apply to us today. When brothers and sisters are led by Spirit to refer to the Word and apply it to us in our situation today...it is prophecy. For example, in Revelation the seven letters to the seven Churches for instance were written to 7 physical Churches at that time. However, a person reading about it will just see it as such....absolutely no connection or relevance today. However, being moved by the Holy Spirit it can be revealed to us that this is talking about today. Giaour, "do not despise prophecy" rather "prove and test it". Are you despising or testing?

Amen roy, I believe that the Lord loves us with a love that we do not understand. I can turn to Him any time....He receives me as long as I am willing to go to Him...even in failure and sin. I still do not understand fully the power of the blood of Christ. But I want to know more. I want to be found always in our Lord Jesus.
  25. Amen. Jesus is my Lord and saviour. Jesus is my righteousness. 2 Cor 4:13 It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak... Because I speak these things, I believe. This is the spirit of faith in me. Praise the Lord.
