  1. Hey, guess what?

Some people don\'t believe in Christ, and some people don\'t want to see symbols of another God manifested in such a non-religious thing as Highway Patrol. Would you be offended if they were stars of David?

And guess what else? Every block of margarine I buy in a supermarket has a 'halaal' sign on it, they even put them on Easter eggs!!! And I am not muslim,,,,,,

Margarine is kind of non religious don't you think?

    :blink::blink::blink:

  2. As far as abusing God's grace is concerned...

A person who has been delivered from sin by faith in Christ should not desire to remain in a life of sin (Romans 6:2). At the same time, submitting to the God is an issue of spiritual growth, not salvation. The Christian life is a process of submitting to God in increasing measure (2 Peter 1:5-8). A person does not have to submit to God in every area of his or her life in order to be saved. A person simply has to recognize that they are a sinner, in need of Jesus Christ for salvation, and place trust in Him (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus is Lord (Philippians 2:10). Christians absolutely should submit to Him (James 4:7). A changed life and submission to God is the result of salvation, not a requirement for salvation.

The Bible clearly teaches that salvation is by faith alone, apart from works (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9). The Bible also says that a life changes after salvation (Ephesians 2:10).

    And Amen!!

its kind of like a circle,,,,

those who have been saved, who have been regenerated by the rebirth, should no longer desire to sin, so when the Bible says the things it says about our conduct, for me it's describing the fruits that should become evident if one has truly 'believed in his heart, and confessed with his mouth, THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD' 'By their fruits you will know them...'

Keith says it best,,,, 'A changed life and submission to God is the RESULT of salvation, not the REQUIREMENT for salvation'

God writes His laws upon our hearts, as we submit to the process of sanctification,,,,a work done by GOD by the power of His Holy Spirit in us

.(Heb 8:10 KJVA) For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

( once we have been 'saved' ie accepted God's free gift of grace) And yes, that is a process!

That's how I understand it anyway! :whistling:

I for one, am ETERNALLY grateful that God took the initiative.

  3. When people come to know Christ as their Savior, they are brought into a relationship with God that guarantees their salvation as eternally secure. Numerous passages of Scripture declare this fact.

Romans 8:30, "And those He predestined, He also called; those He called, He also justified; those He justified, He also glorified." This verse tells us that from the moment God chooses us, it is as if we are glorified in His presence in heaven. There is nothing that can prevent a believer from one day being glorified because God has already purposed it in heaven. Once a person is justified, his salvation is guaranteed - he is as secure as if he is already glorified in heaven.

Paul asks two crucial questions in Romans 8:33-34 "Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died more than that, who was raised to life - is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us." Who will bring a charge against God's elect? No one will, because Christ is our advocate. Who will condemn us? No one will, because Christ, the One who died for us, is the one who condemns. We have both the advocate and judge as our Savior.

Believers are born again (regenerated) when they believe (John 3:3; Titus 3:5). For a Christian to lose his salvation, he would have to be un-regenerated. The Bible gives no evidence that the new birth can be taken away.

The Holy Spirit indwells all believers (John 14:17; Romans 8:9) and baptizes all believers into the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13). For a believer to become unsaved, he would have to be "un-indwelt" and detached from the Body of Christ.

John 3:15 says that whoever believes in Jesus will "have eternal life." If you believe in Christ today and have eternal life, but lose it tomorrow, then it was never "eternal" at all. So, if you lose your salvation, the promises of eternal life in the Bible would be in error.

For the most conclusive argument, I think Scripture says it best itself, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39)." Remember the same God who saved you is the same God who will keep you.

Jesus said, "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand" (John 10:28-29).

Both Jesus and the Father have us firmly grasped in their hand. Who could possibly separate us from the grip of both the Father and the Son?

    AMEN KEITH! :whistling:

  4. So, let's see if I grasp the "Once Saved-Then Re-Lost-Then Re-Saved-Then Re-Lost Ad Infinitum Position:

    (1) If you lose your everlasting salvation, quite evidently you never had EVERLASTING salvation in the first place. It was only TEMPORARY salvation;

    (2) If one can lose one's everlasting salvation, then God told a distinct lie 2when He promised "And they shall NEVER, NEVER, NEVER perish (Greek, comay, a TRIPLE negative), neither shall any man pluck them pout of My Hand";

    (3) WHERE in the entire Bible is there ONE example - so stated in clear English - of a formerly saved individual now become "Re-Lost" & having been plucked out of God's Hand?;

    (4) And wouldn't JUST ONE SIN make a person become "Re-Lost" OR can we enter heaven WITH sins in our lives? And, further, how will one KNOW whether or not one has become "Re-Lost" again?

    (5) Finally, for the moment, Didn't Jesus say, "I NEVER knew you"? Wouldn't He have to alter Holy Scripture to read, "I USED to know you, but I don't know you now!"?

THANK YOU, LORD JESUS, FOR BEING ABLE TO "KEEP ME FROM FALLING"!

    AMEN! GLORY!

  6. Why So Blind,

Surely what you are talking about are sinners under the Law. Christ died to take away our sin.

All our righteousness is of nothing to God, that's why we can't do anything to save ourselves, other than accept Jesus' gift of Salvation.

    Yomo

AMEN Yomo,,, are we not born again, saved, justified, reconciled to God through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? Things were DIFFERENT before He came,,surely!!!!!

  7. Dear Delivered,

I bought a $8.00 book called Fast Facts On False Teachings by Ron Carlson/Ed Decker. It's a wonderful tool there is about 16 pages on Jehovah's Witnesses. Those pages are very helpful.

My neighbors are JW and it is sad.The wife is a hand servent, and on top of that she doesn't believe they go to heaven because the 144,000 spots are already taken. She happialy believes they will be cleaning up the earth after the wicked people are thrown in hell. I have tried to witness to her but I don't want to push her away or make it so that her husband wont let her visit me.They live in Fla.6 mo. and in N.Y. (here)the other 6 mo.She use to babysit me when I was little.

A few pages in this book are very interesting..

The man Ron gets a visit from a pair of JWs, he invites them in on the condition that they would answer a few questions regaurding the JWs.

They said they would be glad to answer any questions he might have.

Then Ron said"I guess that I really only have one question. Throughout your literature you continually say that the trinity is not taught in scripture."

The JWs smile and say'thats right, nowhere in the Bible will you find the word trinty."

Then Ron counter with telling them that the trinty is taught throughout Gods Word.

The JWs again tell him the nowhere in the Bible will you find the word trinity.

Then Ron tells them that it's a latin term meaning three in one that the word trinity it's simply a term used to describe God.Then he points out the fact that they use the term'theocratic kingdom more than any other term in thier literature. Then he asked them to show him one place in the Bible where that word can be found.

The elder Witness says" But the trinity is not rational;you can't understand it."

Ron asks"You believe the Bible, don't you?'

"Oh ,yes, we believe the Bible ," they said.

Ron tells them to put away all thier books, magazines, dictionaries ect..

Then he takes them to the Bible to Revalations he says"let's begin and you will see something very interesting develop here", he promised.

Ron turned to Rev.1:8"I am the Alpha and the Omega" says the Lord God,"who is ,and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty."

Ron asks"who is speaking here?'Iam the Alpha and Omega' say who?'

the answer"Says the Lord God, Jehovah God!"

Ron said"You are absolutely right, we believe that Alpha and Omega is Jehovah God."

Then he tells them to turn to Rev. 21:5-7

He who was seated on the throne said"I am making every thing new! Then He said" write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." He said to me:"It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.To him who is thirsty I will give him to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life.He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be My son."

The two JWs say" we believe that Alpha and Omega are Jehovah God. Thats what it says."

Ron says " now turn to Rev.22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the beginning and the End.

again the JWs responded that these titles referred to Jehovah God,as in Rev.1:8

Ron continued,"there's just one more passage; do you think you could help me with it?"

"Oh, we'd be glad to."they said

Ron said"the passage is Rev. 1:17,18 ,Will you read it for me?"

They turned to the verse in thier Watchtower Bible and the elder one began to read.

When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as though dead. Then he placed His right hand on me and said"Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last"Rev.1:17

Ron said,"stop.I've been tring to figure out who the First and the Last is. Tell me who is He."

They replied,"We just saw who the First and the Last is. The First and the Last is Alpha and Omega, Jehovah God."

Ron asked," You mean to tell me the First and the Last is Jehovah God?"

They replied"Of course He's Jehovah God."

    Ron answered,"Well, keep reading."

I am the Living One; I was Dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades(Rev.1:18)

Ron then asked " When did Jehovah die? When did God die?"

Finally after they silently stared at ther scriptures one said"I never saw that before."

"Well" Ron said "Is this your own Bible you are using, published by the watchtower?"

    he answers "yes"

Ron asked"So tell me-when did Jehovah die?"

They just kept looking at the verse. At last they quietly answered"But Jesus died."

Ron asked,"Oh,you mean Jesus is Jehovah God?"

    They replied,"well,no.He can't be."

    "Why not ?" Ron asked.

"Well, if Jesus is Jehovah God, that would change everything else in the Bible----everything be believe about Him."

    They left.

I hope this helps you, Nana

That was fantastic how could anyone argue with it Thanks from me

I just had two Jehovah's witnesses at my gate. I know there are big differences in what we believe, but really don't know what they are. (And they always seem so sweet!) I jumped straight on to Worthy to post my question, and found this thread!! This story has already helped, but I will visit the sites mentioned, and 'educate' myself.

Thanx again for the info :)

  8. I think the underlying reason for a lack of injury is simply because the majority of kids were sitting inside reading in a safe, controlled environment. The book obviously has no magic of its own. What an observation to make.

At any rate, I'm not sure that I follow the "Garbage-In=Garbage-Out" philosophy, and I don't think that by reading a story we are damning ourselves to the fires of Hell. I mean, with a spirit of discernment one can easily see that this just a story. Should young and impressionable minds be reading....probably not, because they may think it's actually real, or that they can do what Harry Potter does. But as a mature adult, a little leisure reading of a good story is always enjoyable. I mean, if Harry Potter is bad, wouldn't we have to say that C.S. Lewis, one of the greatest Apologeticists of the modern era, then also authored a Satanic story since has fantasical, mystical world contained witchcraft as well? I find this hard to believe. What about Tolkien's Lord of the Rings? He, too, was a Christian author, and his epci fantasy series now has Bible studies in our bookstores.

Honestly, it's only a story. Enjoy a good book. Not everybody can appreciate such enthralling Non-fiction classics as the History of Grass in a Cow's Digestive System. Get a grip. If, however, you think that by reading a purely fictitious story that the reader is being damned to Hell, then don't read it. But don't make me feel bad for enjoying a good book with great authorship and a great story line.

We Christians can be so close-minded and puritanical. Didn't Jesus tell stories (i.e. parables)? Did a master really give his three servants a number of talents to take care of while he was gone? Did the prodigal son truly exist? Or were these merely illustrations used to drive home a point? If these things didn't actually happen, and there were just illustrations, which is entirely plausible, then, according to WhySoBlind, then Jesus was indeed sinning, according to your theology.

Now, hear me, I am not for one second advocating any sort of witchcraft or magic or any other demonic activity: "Don't sacrifice your children in the fires on your altars; and don't let your people practice divination or look for omens or use spells or charms, and don't let them consult the spirits of the dead. The LORD your God hates people who do these disgusting things, and that is why he is driving those nations out of the land as you advance. Be completely faithful to the LORD." (Deu 18:10-13)

I agree that this stuff is seriously dangerous, Satanic stuff. However, if it is put into a fictitous story such as HP, Lewis' Narnia, or Tolkien's LoTR, and a person can read it as such without even entertaining the thought that they will participate in this, let alone that they are in danger of being ensnared by it...I mean, c'mon. I don't even think the stuff is real. IMO, it's all pretty hokey. For that reason, when I see it in a fake, fictitious story, then I don't feel threatened at all. Like I said, do I think young kids should be reading this stuff without some serious guidance...Not at all. But surely a mature Christian adult that is responsible enough to know the difference between good/bad, right/wrong, fake/real can read a story and accept it as just that...A STORY!!

Weren't for one moment trying to make you feel bad cadillacactor.....just thought we were discussing whether or not we would encourage our CHILDREN to read books like Harry Potter, not mature responsible discerning Christian adults such as yourself.

    ;)

  9. Hi Jacqueline

Your post just emphasised to me, the neccesity for us as believers to really 'know' Gods Word. When Jesus was in the wilderness, He used Scripture to overcome the Devil at every turn.

In Ephesians 6;11 we are told about the armour that God has provided for us. Every item is protective, and is found 'In Christ', the one that is offensive is the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God.(Eph 6;17)

If Jesus needed to use it, how much more do we....

Thank you for this reminder to keep God's Word close, we never know when we're going to need it!

    In Him

    Gaill :whistling:

  10. I've often wondered what He meant here.

John10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

I have always understood this verse to refer to Him bringing in the gentiles. ;)

  11. :I sooo love this topic, and just have to say, Satan, Gods archenemy and therfore ours,

is slowly but surely, like a fisherman with a lure, drawing our kids in to the idea of witchcraft being acceptable, harmless fun.We are in a war people, if we belong to Jesus Christ, we don't get to choose whether to inlist or not, the moment we were born again we became Satans target as surely as we breathe.

And if we are to be victorious, we need to know and understand the devils tactics, and rather than spend our time defending ourselves against him, we should be on the attack. You can only fight an enemy you know, and the Bible is the best place to learn all about his devious ways.

So why allow our children to be drawn into what is known to be witchcraft?? No matter how well it is disguised?

And I hear Christians defending this one! Doing his dirty work for him!

We need to renew our minds, and our children are our responsibility, we should be exposing the devils work, not defending him!

"Teach your children in the way that they should go, and they shall not depart from it" I for one, want my childrens eyes to be wide open when it comes to the spiritual battle we are in, otherwise how on earth are they going to live victoriously?

Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, and all your MIND!

  12. /boggle

Totally dont see the problem with a bit of harmless fantasy. I could similarily accuse thinking of unicorns or hoping for santa to be just as demonic. Yet parents have no problem with thier kids doing so.

My friend, you are right on when you say that you "could similarily accuse thinking of unicorns or hoping for santa to be just as demonic." Because they are!

    Daave

Glad someone sees that. The scripture says, "No lie is of the truth." Now if you LIE to your child and tell him there is a santa clause, or tell him "Santa brought you this gift." Then you have just sinned. It is NOT innocent fantasy or fun, it is a lie from the devil.

It is the same with Harry Potter. Now HONEST TO GOD, if I only had two choices, say, Harry Potter and LOTR or Narnia for my child to read, I'd pick LOTR. HOWEVER, I don't have just two choices. Wizardry, regardless of how you decorate it and spice it up, is still just that: a sin. Portraying wizards as "good", for any reason, is a lie and a deception that attacks spiritual truth. After all, if Gandalf is a "Good" wizard, then surely there could be "christian" wizards? See where this leads? It leads to the old "white" witch vs "black" witch debate.

Either way, the Bible says "thou shalt not...."

So all of these books: Potter, LOTR, Narnia, SOT, etc, etc, etc are just satanic ploys to dilute or otherwise undermine the Word of God.
