I googled dr Richard Leakey and this was what he said in a TIME magazine "Dr. Richard Leakey: The whole story is about change. We are very lucky that the earth's history is recorded in fossilized remains. And we can see the changes. Unfortunately, there will always be gaps in our knowledge, but there is no doubt that we and everything living today has evolved."

Evolution is not diametrically opposed to Christianity. Evolution is the mechanism that God used to create life.

Your link exemplifies very much what is so wrong with creationism. These people deliberately misquoted Dr. Johansen in order to discredit the status of Lucy as a transitional fossil. Anotherwards they uphold Dr. Johansen as a credible source of determining whether Lucy is a transitional fossil. However if you read his book or listen to the NPR interview he always affirms the status that Lucy was indeed a transitional fossil. Which is the position of anthroplogists across the board. There in that article is evidence of a fallacy and deliberate trickery. An astute person who read the national geographic article would realize that he is saying nothing of what this article from apologetics press says he does.

I know this but he never refuted that Lucy was a transitional fossil. Ever. I just saw an interview with him on CBS 60 minutes. So I know the quotes are taken out of context - why not give me a paper written by the man himself if he refutes it? Instead brad simply scans through the works of evolutionists and quotes them out of context - miscontexualization.

Creationism is a cancer on the human mind. Of which there is no evidence that will wipe away this indoctrination from your brain. I am a christian so my faith is in Christ, period. But the how of our origin - how God created the earth- that is for the scientists to discover. Was this fossil the one that the nine year old boy found in Africa? I saw that on 60 minutes- so fascinating- I am waiting for a book about it to come out- not since Lucy has a transitional fossil been found that was so intact.

By departure you mean departure from your personal literalists misinterpretation of Genesis 1. Just as the church silenced Galileo for providing scientific evidence for heliocentrism so the "church" today (I'm referring to fundamentalism here) seeks to silence Darwin. And yes I am a Christian - I follow the main teachings of the church and am in communion with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Someone who needs surgery doesn't go to a walmart pharmacy to get it done, just like if someone who is honestly seeking answers to the origins of life or understanding of the creation myth presented in the Torah shouldn't come here.
