  5. TEST.....TEST.... oh my last time I had to take a test I left my family home (stayed at a hotel) to go study before the exams!!!! PLEASE PLEASE no TEST but then it may help to know how much we have retained......hmmm
  6. Morning all, Thanks for the different verses from different sources. I am still in prayer and I keep coming up with it is important for me to fast. God has placed this in my heart for me to build a deeper relationship to know God's will in my life. He has also placed in my heart that i really need to research and study to learn his word. (which I have been doing) But now i plan on going deeper than I have ever gone before. Thanks for being on my journey with me! God is Good!
  7. I still believe that fasting is important because Jesus often went into prayer and fasting, and we are to be christlike in our actions. I need to pray on the correct Bible to read and apply to my life
  8. this is what i have KJV: 1Co 7:5 Defraud ye not one the other, except [it be] with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. LITV: 1Co 7:5 Do not deprive one another, unless by agreement for a time, that you may be free for fasting and prayer. And come together again on the same place, that Satan may not tempt you through your incontinence MKJV: 1Co 7:5 Do not deprive one another, unless it is with consent for a time, so that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer. And come together again so that Satan does not tempt you for your incontinence. MSG: 1Co 7:5 Abstaining from sex is permissible for a period of time if you both agree to it, and if it's for the purposes of prayer and fasting--but only for such times. Then come back together again. Satan has an ingenious way of tempting us when we least expect it. ISV: 1Co 7:5 Do not withhold yourselves from each other unless you agree to do so for a set time in order to devote yourselves to prayer. Then you should come together again so that Satan does not tempt you through your lack of self-control. ASV: 1Co 7:5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be by consent for a season, that ye may give yourselves unto prayer, and may be together again, that Satan tempt you not because of your incontinency. I beleive this is one of those things that I really need to go into prayer about and be lead by the Holy Spirit on. Do you have a version of the NASB? I understand that one is really closest to the correct translation.
  9. Why did you not ask that question the first time? Why have you re-posted what may be Satan's work? this is what i am talking about i misquoted the question prior
  10. Pointer this is a sincere question, can you quote to me the scripture 1Co 7:5 from the Bible that you are reading from, i am truly trying to understand you're point of view. On why you feel the way you do. and why that you say that I re-posted what may be a satan quote? i am not sure why you are not respondng to me???
  11. pointer what does the bible that you are reading from say in 1co 7:5?
  12. crucified as in Mat26:2 στοιχεῖον stoicheion stoy-khi'-on Neuter of a presumed derivative of the base of G4748; something orderly in arrangement, that is, (by implication) a serial (basal, fundamental, initial) constituent (literally), proposition (figuratively): - element, principle, rudiment. crucified as in Mat 27:22 σταυρόω stauroō stow-ro'-o From G4716; to impale on the cross; figuratively to extinguish (subdue) passion or selfishness: - crucify. Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
  13. Pointer what were you talking about here?
  14. We are not instructed at all. That is not an instruction to fast, even to Jews. Even if there was such a thing, it would not necessarily apply to the church. I realised that. I didn't know why you wrote it, though. Jesus was crucified. Do we do that, also? I have written that there is no command to fast in Scripture. If that is a problem for anyone, they must prove me wrong, or accept it. Jesus was crucified. Do we do that, also? wow is that a loaded question and I think you know the answer to that, we are to die to sin to be born again. what is crucified?
  15. We are not instructed at all. That is not an instruction to fast, even to Jews. Even if there was such a thing, it would not necessarily apply to the church. Reread pointer I said this is "HOW" we are to fast if we choose to do so. Jesus himself fasted and prayed and we are told to follow His example. If you personally do not believe in fasting as in the word. Then don't practice it but don't tell others it is not biblical when it is all throughout the word. I think of the terrible things Jesus had to endure on the cross and the agony he went through in the garden and how that he practiced both prayer and fasting in order to keep Him strong and I learn from that as Jesus overcome the temptations of Satan to not submit His will over to the will of the Father to go to the cross. And Jesus is our example to follow after. oc I agree we are to put on the mind of Christ , to be Christ like, Jesus is our example, on we are to live our lives and fasting and prayer was a part of Christ's life. This is my conviction, i needed to add that statement we each have our own walk.
