I don't know how I truly feel about this but has any one of you ever been to New Orleans? I have on more than one occassion, my BIL was in the hospital there with a broken back then a heart attack. There had to be guards posted everywhere through out the hospital and this was before 9-11. the violence was so bad. the city literally stank, everywhere you went there were tarot card readers, palm reader, prostitues, drugs gangs voodoo this is all out in the open nothing to hide. And this was not for mardi gras, then mardi gras is a whole other issue, mardi gras came about for all the heathen and pagens to celebrate there sins before lent started on ash wednesday. nudity sex it was all there. plus all the above mentioned magnified. Then there were hurricane parties that is where the drink named hurricane came from people would stay to ride out the hurricanes saying bring it on. Then I think through out history of the Bible God does send down his wrath. as mentioned in previous threads. So if God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, why would the wrath for sinners then be different now? I've heard someone comment that God wouldn't hurt children and that thousands of chidren were killed. that info is wrong, children ages 0-5 yrs old 1 death, children ages 5-10 yrs old 1 death, ages 10-18 a total of 18 deaths. the rest were adults, a total of 1837. I don't know if God made this happen , but I do know he knew it would happen and people were warned.

it is something that came to mind about someone else from church while I was praying and i'm not sure about it.

how do you go about finding out if someone is possessed or oppressed ? for the past few months I have been really growing in my walk with God and he has been showing me some things, mostly words come up. but he has shown me something and I'm not sure how to go about finding out. Then my mind is trying to find the logic, I know I don't need the logic I just need to be right with GOD and do his will.

ok I have been trying to figure out all of this and it is definitely making lots of questions pop in my head. what is the definition of heresies ( not the catholic version, I read that ) second shouldn't we do as the Bible tells us that we have to seek out our own salvation with fear and trembling? that no one but Jseus can get us in heaven? I also know that there will be wolves in sheep's clothing trying to decieve the sheep, that is also in the Bible (MOV). what is things to look out for that was talked about in the first thread? it was too vague for me to understand i felt like I was trying to read their mind on what has them upset? maybe I'm not as far in my walk with Jesus as some of you or not as knowledgable. just trying to understand

I used to read the King James, but now I read the Vulgate. That way, I don't have to understand any of the Bible. Mornin' , not sure about what you are saying here can you give some insight? is the Vulgate a Bible? and not having to understand any of the Bible? Thanks

Anyone who loves God's Word, who has discovered the truth, the riches and indeed the delights of original languages, will not, imv, ever again be satisfied with any mere translation. What is certain is that anyone who wants to make any serious, critical comment on Scripture must use those languages. pointer that is a very good point, a little over a month ago I was given a computor program Study Bible with the Greek/Hebrew word and definition to every word. I have been into it so intensly I also use the Strong's Dictionary. it has been an awesome learning experience.

I believe sincerely we are to be in this world( for a short time)but not of it. I do not plan on partaking in the sins of the world. I believe our eyes and ears are the port holes to our souls, I will not fill my children's (or myself) heads with worldly garbage. We are to be lights to world not the world enclose us into darkness. I am glad you have joined this sight I find it very insightful. I hope a seed of love for Jesus Christ is planted in you. I will pray for you. God is good and above all. this is good that we view ,take a look at ourselves, I have been living for Jesus Christ since 1999, And in the last few months I have grown more than in the past years it is amazing. I know I am to abide in him so he will abide in me. To put on the mind of Christ, for others to see Christ in us. through this I have come to know a love that is so much more than I ever thought possible, and i know this is just a touch that there is so much more. I don't know if i have gotten off subject but this is what immediately came to mind when I read you''re post God is good!

I don't think a little tv is bad either if controled, we do alot of other things but like this weekend with the rain, not much to do. We live on a semi farm we all have chores that we do together, I also homeschool, using a bible based curriculum, I am very invovled in my children's lives. And if I find good based, wholesome movies that have a life lesson I will allow it we veiw everything together. The Tv is not a babysitter for us we plan to use it as a tool. man has made things bad but good can come from it to give God the glory. I don't know if this makes sence to you and I do appreciate you're advise, I just thought you could use a little more insight to me and my family. I wouldn't want to cause anyone to a stumbling block. thanks

a few years ago I did a study on the history on the bible, If i remember correctly king James sent different people from different areas to translate the Bible he wanted it to it's truest form not a religious form if I remember correctly he did this because the roman catholic had translated the Douay (SP) to fit their religious purposes. I will look up where I found this and get back with you. As for the I THINK part wouldn't it make sence that it would be the closest to what God meant if religion wasn't envovled with the translation? I have also heard about different books but haven't researched anything on it. It seems like if it were part of the Bible it would have all been together? And didn't God say do not add or leave out one word? I am still learning I think I will be learning for a very long time there is so much to know and figure out.

we have decided that the tv is too risky to say the least. So i plan on buying a DVD /VCR player and starting a movie collection. Seems like there is some type of christian club that produces movies that my family can sit down together to watch. we have also decided that if it's not good for the kids to watch then it is not good for us to watch. We really don't watch much TV anyway(only have rabbit ears for reception) we haven't had it on in weeks and then it was very limited. but here lately boredom has set in on all of us. we would like bible based, or just good wholesome morals. anyone has any idea where i can find this? thanks

I also use concordences and comentaries, I find them very insightful I also use the Strong's dictionary. I don't have the big strong's dictionary yet I'm not sure of it's full name but it has a lot more to it than mine. I want to be so full of the Lord's word that it will (like the Bible says) pour out of me as living water. The other night i woke up to "listen and absorb but not like a sponge." I thought a sponge is absorbent right , then a little more thought , it can be squeezed out dry. I don't want to be dry. I want to stay hungry for more of God he is so wonderful and there is sooo much to learn. thanks

What bible do you read and why do you read this particular bible? I read the King James Version of The Holy Bible, because it was ordered by King James to have people to interprete it for his knowledge, not for religious reasons. That is why I think it comes the closest in translation. And do you use the Bible as a whole or just hold tight to certain scriptures? I guess just reading some of the other threads has me wondering, I feel I should look at all views and then wieght them out against the Bible to see if that is how I should line up my life. I want to be a willing vessel for God, and do all I can to honor him not myself. And being that I am human and by nature am prone to mistakes. I am seeking out you're imput. thanks

Acts 2; 8-11 is not the only place that speaking in tongues is at, there are several places 1Co12;10;28;30,.. 1co13;1;8,...1Co14;2;4;5;6;13;14;18;19;21;27;,...Mar16;17,.. Acts2;3;4;11,.. Acts 10;46,.. I like where it says in 1Co 14;2 For he that speaketh in an UNKNOWN tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God; for NO man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh MYSTERIES. this is from KJV. Please don't get stuck on one verse when the Bible is a whole and has so much more in it. The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. We have to study and apply the WHOLE Bible to our lives not just bits and pieces. I would be so scared of missing something important if i got stuck on one scripture. Pray and ask God to reveal to you his word as a whole. God Bless You.

this may or may not be the right place to post this but here goes.... When you here of catastorphes like say katrina hitting New Orleans or the tsunami hitting overseas, and many people are wiped out, do you think it is a cleansing of a particular city? Some say God is a God of love , that he wouldn't take innocent lives, Some say God is God of truth, and that he does bring out wrath upon many what are you're thoughts on this and why and what scripture do you base you're opinion on this?

to clarify no one is hurt right now because they know not of the lie (lies) but if I were to confess to the person I need or may not need to confess to then innocent bystanders would be hurt( I have confessed to God whole heartedly). Right now no one is hurt or has any damages to deal with, it is in me that I really think I have to forgive myself and i am trying really hard to figure out how to do that. i have chosen to forgive myself. I've said it out loud. I have commanded the devil to get under my feet where he belongs. And I have confessed to a dear friend and she was very honest and told me that it is going to have to be me letting go and trully forgiving myself it belongs to no one else but between me and God. I am looking for scriptures and you all have given me places to look I am trully grateful thank you. I know I have to put it under the blood and leave it there, but there are times i just slip up and exagerate another story or something really silly so now I am going to correct myself at the moment it happens and ask for forgiveness right then and there. I still can't figure out why I have to make things out to more than what they are. I don't need to impress anyone. I just need to be right with God. Can you tell I am now speaking to myself and trying to justify my actions. I seem to be a chronic liar, It's usually small things like I went somewhere and this really big thing happened and the story grows from there. please pray for me. thank you all so much cupajoy

when is sin not forgiven and does asking God for forgiveness rectify the wrong or does other action need to take place even if correcting the matter will hurt many others? I know the only way to Heaven is thru Jesus Christ and I should confess my sins to him and humbly ask for forgiveness. and sin no more. I know I also need to forgive myself. Is there more that I am missing? The sin is a lie and confessing the lie to others will not fix anything or help anyone else, it will just cause pain and anguish. I humbly look for honest advise and where to search the scriptures I have been searching and have not found the answer i think I am looking for. I pray to be right with God to have him fully in my heart. To know him, to give him all the glory, praise and worship. my walk with God is now at a cleansing deep inside stage and I know God has brought this to my attention.
