I posted the first two chapters of my book about Old Testament prophecies of Jesus on the first page of this thread, but I'm posting chapters three, four, five on now! I will be posting more chapters as this thread carries on in future postings. You can read and copy free the whole book my website at: http://www.thelordsplace.us Chapter Three Prophecies Of His Life And Ministry We will be looking at Old Testament prophecies of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ in this chapter, but first the definition of the Greek word Christ will be given here, so the reader can see and understand Old Testament Prophecies through the eyes of the Jews who lived during the time Jesus lived on earth. Christ is the Greek translation of the Hebrew word Messiah. The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew, and later translated into Greek. Greek was a common language during the life and ministry of Jesus, and the New Testament was written in Greek. Messiah and Christ both mean "Anointed One." Jesus Christ = Jesus the Messiah = Jesus the Anointed One. We get the interpretation that Messiah means Christ from John 1:41 and John 4:25. John 1:41 "He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias (Messiah), being interpreted, the Christ." John 4:25 "The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias (Messiah) cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things." Prophecies in the Old Testament were always about a future Messiah, Christ, or Anointed One, who would come in the future. The Spirit of Christ would also mean Spirit of Messiah or Spirit of Anointed One. The Old Testament was written through the Jews or Jewish writers, who were God

Jesus-myth or "copycat savior" myth refuted.
Jesus Admirer replied to tdrehfal's topic in Defense of the Gospel
When I was a Christian, I would have chastised you in love. What I would have said might have been something like this- It is not up to you who will go to heaven. We are directed to love our enemy, because even the heathens can hate their enemies. How is that transcendental to human wisdom? Judgment is the Lord's, not yours. If you are without sin, then cast the first stone. If we are directed to show God's love, which is for all, and judgment is not our place, then you are being prideful in your assessment and are slamming the door shut on some human beings simply because you have decided that they, in their curiosity, are not living up to your standards. They will know us by our love. Since I am not a Christian any longer, then I will ask you to try to show love in order to convince me that the purpose of this board isn't just about some stupid intellectual argument that you seek to win, but all about me and my salvation, because, so far, you are falling well short of your directive. Were I still a Christian, I would be suggesting that you realize that you are telling the world that Christians are hateful. Since I'm an atheist, I'm telling you that, if you are indeed a Christian, what makes you different from any other person who dislikes anyone who disagrees? k k I don't believe any Christian should debate against love, because love is good! Love never fails: 1 Corinthians 12:8. But bold debating should never be confused with a lack of love. Jesus said there was none greater than John the Baptist, yet John the Baptist called people vipors. I don't think anyone would say Jesus didn't believe in love. He taught us to love our enemies. Yet Jesus had some real choice words for people in hot debate too! Like: (your father the devil) Jesus also called people vipors too, just like John the Baptist. Jesus also said we shouldn't cast our pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet. So there are appropriate times when Christians have to be bold & frank about things. Christians might even have to fight for their families such as in time of war. David was full of mercy & compassion for his enemy, yet he was a warrior after God's own heart. So I don't buy into all this, that Christians have to always be so kind to all who oppress us. Love is one thing, but being a fool is another! I believe the Muslim terroist who killed several thousand people in New York, should expect some form of retailiation for their deeds. So will Christians retailiate under some conditions. I don't believe Christians should have to be door mats for the ungodly to step on. See scriptures below. Matthew 3:7 -
I didn't ask the question to get an answer for myself, because I already have my answer. I asked the question for atheists to consider for themelves.

I know there are many who want proof that God exist, so the debate between Evolution & Creation Science goes on. But I have a very good Non-Scientific reason why I believe in God. So I thought I would just share one reason I believe in God. But first let me tell why I first believed in God, because I believe in Him for a different reason today. I was 19 years old when I had my first experience with God. I didn't know one verse in the Bible except John 3:16, and I didn't even know what it meant. (It was a verse a Minister once put in my hand, when I was just 14 years old, because he knew I was quite ignorant about scriptures. He Said: Quote: "If I can't teach you anything else, then just let me give you this one verse, and I pray you'll never forget it."Unquote I didn't. But at 19 years old I was in this room all alone, and I was real bored, so I was looking for something to read. All I could find was a 500 page Bible Story Book with all the Bible stories in it from Genesis to Revelation. So I started reading until I was about where the New Testament stories began, then I put the book down for the night, but the next day I grabbed the Bible itself from the shelf and read through the whole New Testament that day. So You might say I gained quick knowledge of all the Bible stories from Genesis to Revelation in about 24 hours. (That is: As much as I could comprehend & retain in such short time.) Three things I comprehended from all that reading. 1. God loved me! 2. He wants all of us to love him. 3. We're going to hell if we don't. So I was out on the street the next day telling all the teen-agers they had to love God or they're going to hell. I realize that was being straight forward & hard about it, but I was brand new at it, and I just didn't know how to witness to people. (I guess you could call it my first sermon!) I suppose I believed with child like faith then, because I thought everyone believed in God. I never met an atheist before then, and I didn't even know what an atheist was. I guess I was quite naive and unaware of various religions and beliefs in the world then. Someone might wonder why I believe today! I always tell people I believe in God today, because I have prayed, and God has answered my prayers. Now I don't expect anyone here to just accept my word for that. But the truth is: I know it all happened, and how God answered my prayers, whereas it left no room for doubt in my heart & mind. (That's why I believe in God today!) That was also very important for me too! Because that also proved to me that God was personally interested in me when he answered my prayers. He's also personally interested in everyone else on this planet! Because he's no respector of persons. (Acts 10:34) Which means God doesn't prefer one person over another. His arms are open to anyone who will come to him. One Example of answered prayer: I'll never forget when I first read that Bible Story Book. I was quite emotional after reading that book, because I pictured all these people I loved going to Hell. So I was desperately trying to speak to loved ones and all who would listen to me. But there was one person I couldn't speak to, because she was my ex-fiance who had just married someone else, so she would have hung up the phone if I tried to call her. I was always troubled about her then, because her new husband really didn't love her. You See! I was out of town once, and she was lonely, so she went to a New Year's Party, and was drinking. (We weren't Christian then!) It was at that party she met her new husband. They had a sexual fling, and she became pregnant with his child. So she broke up with me and married him instead. A man she hardly even knew, but she wanted the father of her child to raise her child. The thing is: He didn't love her, because her pregnancy was responsible for him being turned down by West Point Military Academy, because he was chosen with two other boys from our home state to attend West Point. (He was very intelligent! One of the top three boys in the state!) It's just that getting her pregnant disqualified him for West Point, and he held this against her. (Treated her in very cruel ways!) So there I was with tears running down my cheeks, because the woman I loved didn't know God. I knew this, because neither of us ever talked about God or the Bible the three years I was with her. So I prayed to God, and here's what I prayed: "God, I'll tell anyone about you at anytime, or at any place, but I need you to do one thing for me! Will you please lead my ex-fiance into the hands of someone who will give her the truth about you." (I said God, because it was only two weeks after I read that book, and I was rather illiterate to Christian terminology. (Today I would say Lord!) It was about a week after I said that prayer, that her brilliant & intelligent husband was standing underneath the stars admiring space. Miraculously the Spirit of God fell on him, as he reasoned there must be a God. (Those were his words.) It reminds me of Romans 1:20 that says: "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse." So there he was: Nobody witnessed to him. He just reasoned God existed from looking at the stars. He was attending the State University then, so he visited some Camp Crusaders on Campus, and they helped nurture him with God's Word. He grew in Spirit, and led my ex-fiance to the Lord, who was then his wife. Please understand how important that was for me. I loved that woman with all of my heart, and I hurt down deep inside to know she was being mistreated by her husband, who would drop her off at the grocery store, insisting she carry the groceries home alone, while he took the car out drinking & playing pool. So I prayed to God with tears running down my cheeks, because I couldn't stand the thought of her going to hell, and not knowing about God's love. It was one of the most serious & emotional prayers I ever prayed. It was the first prayer I remember God answering for me. I have been a believer in God & Jesus Christ every since. I said that prayer in August 1969! Just a little more than a year later(November 1970) I was standing side by side with her and her husband in church praising God together! Her husband and I became best friends, and we witnessed together bringing bus fulls of teenagers right off the streets to church revivals. (It was her husband who taught me about the Holy Spirit!) Ironic! I once prayed for her when he wasn't a Christian. Then he miraculously becomes a believer, and then teaches me about the Holy Spirit. Together: Him and I led hundreds of people to the Lord. A man who was once my enemy, yet it was God's purpose that we become friends. There have been discouraging times since then, when it was hard for me to believe, but I never forgot or could deny how God answered a very Special prayer for me. So atheism is impossible for me, because I have prayed and God has answered my prayers. Another prayer: Once I was in a situation when I was financially broke! I had to be out of my apartment in two days, with nowhere I could go with my furniture. No Job! No money! No Food! No Gas for the car! Just one bag of beans in the cupboard, but no other food. Not even Butter & Bread. So I went into the prayer closet for six hours a day! (I was desperate!) I had actually been in the prayer closet for the previous 3 weeks, but the 3 weeks passed and then it was 2 days before eviction time with nowhere to go! To make a long story short! I never asked anybody for anything! I didn't go to welfare either! No part of the system. I just prayed to God for 3 weeks about 6 hours a day. Guess what? 2 days later I was in a new apartment with food in the cupboards & refrigerator. Tank full of gas, and my furniture was moved in a truck that was also supplied. God worked out several unusual things in two days to bring me through a tough time. I didn't have to do one thing! God did it all! I wish I could elaborate on details, but no room on this post. This was just one of many times God answered my prayers in ways that were completely unexplainable except as being defined as miracles. I just want to say that I enjoy Bible Apologetics! But I'm not a Scientist! So I try to leave science to the Scientists, even though I'll quote a few science facts now & then. I actually just set up my own website, with links to Creation Scientists who can give scientific information regarding creation, etc. My website: thelordsplace.us But I realize it isn't science that causes me to believe! It's just the simple fact that I have prayed, and God has answered my prayers. I just shared two of them here, but there have been more. Also! I remember countless times I felt like I was in hopeless situations. Yet! Those situations were only for short temporary periods, and I believe God is the reason I sailed through them. I'll end this post with just one question to atheists: If God doesn't exist, then I would like to know who's answering my prayers? Remember! I'm not trying to convince you of anything! You might not believe God answered my prayers. It's just that I know you''ll never convince me God didn't answer my prayers, because it's a fact that I can't ever deny. (It's why I personally believe in God today!)
