  1. Hey, what is the deal with the Emerging Church??? The definition I read: A noticeable shift of contemporary churches with non-religious approaches is becoming known by many as the Emerging Church Movement. What does this mean? How can you have a non-religious approach to something that is meant to be religious? Doctrine should come from the word of God, not from something Rick Warren or some other surface-level writer has thrown out to barnes & noble for some pocket change. I hate to be blunt.. but unless someone can clear something up... The emerging church seems closer to the emerging cult.
  2. awesome, thanks for some of the artist suggestions. I've been on iTunes digging up a ton of new artists! It has been awesome.
  3. Hey, I'm fairly new to the Christian music scene. I'm not opposed to secular music, but I am all for Christian. Recently I saw a concert by a girl named Cali (musicbycali.com). She played at a youth group in NY... and it was incredible!!! I could not believe how talented she was! Her concert was inspirational, & unlike most concerts I have taken my kids to, she was very modest. Relieving to see this!
  4. "Tattooed Rats" Started it on Jan. 4th, finished today. It is a pretty solid read all the way through. I am familiar with Jerry Jenkins (as with the other 75 million people who bought his left behind books), however the co-author John Perrodin is a new one to me. Anybody know anything else he has written? It should make for a heck of a series.
  5. the hints can be found at http://buzzplant.com/thesecretsmenkeep. You can read a whole chapter I believe. Seriously though- it is an AMAZING book.
  6. amen to that nebula. I am all about seeing christians participate in hollywood films. Look at what Tom Cruise has done for that crazy scientology thing! It has made many people curious... I believe a christian actor would do the same... P.S. http://rockyresources.com has alot of information geared towards church leaders & groups... I am taking my youth group tomorrow night, and we are going to try and find the deep spiritual connection that everyone has been talking about.
  7. So, I must recommend that all men read the book "the secrets men keep"... it is by the same guy that wrote Every Mans Battle. I think it is safe to say that all men have similar issues that we keep bottled up. I cannot express how important it is to understand you are not alone, and there are things you need to do about it. seriously, it is a powerful book (and I'm only half way through it...).
  8. Well, in 2003, I went to a youth conference at the charlotte convention center... The conference was mostly about finding your place in ministry... I believe God puts a passion in each one of us, and that passion is what drives us to be what we are... For me, it was music. In 2003, I was a horrible guitarist. I knew a few chords, but nothing else... I felt strongly that I was to be involved in a music ministry. Three weeks ago, I was in that same convention center... this time it was not a youth conference. It was a conference for youth pastors, and I was showcasing my ministry... a professional christian band, based in ministry. I didnt even realize it until the last day when I was walking in the hall remembering what went on 3 years before... then it hit me, and all I could say is "Oh my God... look what you have done!" It took 17 years for me to hear my call... 2 years to persue it, and I am slowely getting on my feet. My advice is to listen to your heart, as long as your walk with God is tight, your desire is Gods desire.
  9. I need a recipe for authentic southern Sweet Tea... I am addicted to it, and live in the north... Does anyone know how to make it?
