  1. i think we can all see technology growing very rapidly in fact it is quite frightening when you think about it and i am sure it will have some part to play in events leading upto Christs return. but the antichrist himself? i dont think so. someone said evil is when we do something against the will of God, surely man can program a computer to do something evil it doesnt have to be concious but even if the antichrist does turn out to be a computer there will be man or men behind it programming or creating it. i think that it is those men or man that have done the wrong not the computer. even if they program it to adapt or 'learn'.
  2. clear error on that leaders part.
  3. yes i should have made my view more clear there is suffering in this 'intermediate hell'/sheol/realm of the dead.
  4. to be totally honest im not sure about this subject it is quite new to me. however, where you have hell in these passages the translations differ a bit. im not too sure both hades and sheol should be translated as hell. my previous understanding of the psalm passage is that God will not 'abandon us to sheol' (some translations) basically we dont go to the realm of the dead we are raised instantly to be with Him[Christ]. luke 24:43 and the bit where it says 'i would rather depart and be with Christ' suggesting being with Christ cannot mean 'sleep' as unconsciousness sleep is surely worse than our current imperfect state of being with Christ. and of the acts passage, Jesus went to 'hell'? one view i have heard (not sure where) is that Jesus went to 'Abrahams bossom' where OT believers were and took this 'compartment' of hades to heaven. one passage quoted again im not sure which is that someone (who was dead) looked up and saw abraham and wanted to be with him but was unable. hence the different compartments of sheol/hades. again i am new to this subject (be kind ) does anyone have any good sources for translations?
  5. i agree with floating axe. the unbelieving dead go to hades/sheol. hades/sheol - this is a realm of the dead. i dont believe anyone is in hell untill the judgement when God sends them there. hell is a place of eternal punishment created by God.
  6. fantastic news kitty
  7. lol he says they arent looking down they were buried face up lol
  8. edit: upon re-reading i removed one thumbs up emote.
  9. immanuel means 'God with us', Christ means 'anointed one' both basically mean or are different names for messiah of which there are more than 2. with the gifts i dont really know CSLewis answer sounds right from what i hear.
  10. personally i would love to believe we will be taken up before great tribulation but i cant see it happening and had no idea such a theory existed until recently. i have put a detailed reason why i dont believe we will be raptured until after the great tribulation in the defence of the post trib rapture pinned thread (p44).
  11. reasons why i believe the rapture will not occur unitll after the great tribulation:- 1) The words used: These words are parousia (literally, presence), apokalypsis (revelation), and epiphaneia (appearance). First, the word parousia. In I Thessalonians 4:15 Paul uses parousia to describe what pretribulationists would call the rapture. But in I Thessalonians 3:13 the same word is used to describe the "coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints"
  12. Gods gift of grace is free. The Holy Spirit is in me and can never be removed. We are new creations in Christ. you say osas is dangerous well not believing it is dangerous, i take it you believe in 'states of grace' then? "be careful you die in a state of grace or you might not go to heaven." this is dangerous a false Catholic doctrine leading to doctrines of works. The bible shows how these actions we need to do like repent are in fact due to the Holy spirit. john 3:5 titus 3:5 (rebirth), acts 11:15-18 1cor 2 9-12 (conversion), romans 8:9 'You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit' v16 'The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children'. testifies is present, implying continuation. this testifying is not just a one off occurance but continues throughout a believers life. eph 1:13-14 '...having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guarunteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possesion - to the praise of his glory.' (preservation)
  13. OSAS? yes! if we think we save oursleves then of course it can be lost. but when we realise it is completely Sovereign God who saves us despite what we do then we know we cant be lost. http://www.grace-bible.com/laymans-a_compa...arminianism.htm

    Birth Control

i am shocked. there is so much wrong with this sentence i dont know where to begin. back to my own look into contraception i have had the same questions and thoughts as many people here. going back to onan im not sure if this point has already been made, i have not read every single post here but my view is this... onan spilled his seed and was slain. now was it for spilling his seed or not fulfilling is duty to carry on the bloodline as was done in this situation. the normal punishment for not carrying out this duty was for the woman to publicly humiliate the man. now onan was slain, was this harsh? if God has done it then we must say it was just, far be it from us to question His actions. My conclusion here is that he was slain for not fulfilling his duty AND for spilling his seed, as the punishment was more severe than usual for refusing to carry on the bloodline with his brothers childless widow. I have two fantastic children, i dont really want anymore. but i would rather raise children in poverty sticking to what i believe is right (or what I believe the bible tells me), than to sin and live comfortably 'take it to the Lord in prayer'
