  1. You did well not to rise to the challenge. I liked your reply too.

I have a son 17 who is learning to drive and is desperate to put his foot down.

Here in shetland we have had a lot of young people die on the roads usually speed or drink.

2 young lads 18 and 19 died last nov.7th when they overtook at a place they couldn't see and a truck came round the corner. If it had been another car then the driver would be dead too.

I believe there is talk of the driving age being raised in the uk from 17 to 18 but not sure when.

  2. I read this somewhere and it has always stuck with me, you may have read it before but its worth reading again.

A man was walking along the beach one sunday morning, in the distance he saw a small boy picking up something and throwing it in the sea, as he walked further along he realised that there were hundreds of star fish stranded on the beach.

He walked over to the boy who was still throwing the star fish into the sea and said to him, your not going to get them all back in you know you are not going to be able tomake a difference. So why dont you stop.

The boy picked up the next star fish threw it in and said, made a difference to that one, picked up another threw it in, made a difference to that one.

The first time I saw this I thought sometimes we think a task is too big, but if we break it down to one at a time we too can make a difference.

    Praise God

  3. HI,

Scripture is the sword of the spirit, its what we fight our battles with. I remember when I was first saved and didn't know much at all my favourite scripture was

Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus.

Every time I felt that condemnation I prayed this, its what kept my mind focused on God and got me into the habit of using scripture to fight with.

Even if you only know a few use scriptures it is good to..

I certainly dont know as many as my friend but I do know God. Oh and so does she.

Mind you she has been a christain 3 times as long as me, hee hee, and she is younger than me too.

I also cant always quote scripture and verse, but sometimes the Holy Spirit reveals it to me.

    Praise God

  4. How can Hell be outer darkness and the lake of fire?????

    Mark

Mat 22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast [him] into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Mark, have you ever been in a building that is fully engulfed in flames? the flames are bright and lots of light for those not in it..... the interier of the building is BLACK.... pitch black, no light..... during fire fighting training, we would have our masks blackened out to simulate being in a fully engulfed building..... YOU CAN NOT SEE ANYTHING ON THE INSIDE OF A FIRE......

Wow thats so interesting, I never thought of that as a way of explaining it before. Thanks

  5. Cant remember if I've seen this here or not but I received it in an email. I thought it was good.

This one is priceless... Wrong email address?

A lesson to be learned from typing the wrong email address!

A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a

    particularly icy winter.

They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20

    years earlier.

Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to co-ordinate their travel

    schedules.

So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday, with his

wife flying down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel.

There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his

    wife.

However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and

without realizing his error, sent the email.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston , a widow had just returned home from her

    husband's funeral.

He was a minister who was called home to glory following a heart attack.

The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and

    friends.

After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted.

The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and

saw the computer screen which read:

    To: My Loving Wife

    Subject: I've Arrived

    Date: October 16, 2005

I know you're surprised to hear from me.

They have computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your

    loved ones.

I've just arrived and have been checked in.

I've seen that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing you then!

Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.

P.S. Sure is freaking hot down here!

  6. Well my son is in Inverness, praise God he got there safe and sound, he stepped out of his comfort zone and we all know that is not easy.

I am one very proud mother.

Keep praying that college goes ok for him please.

Thank you for the recent prayers.

Love in Christ your sister Carol

  7. Your "legalistic" friend sounds like he needs your prayers. Even if he is not responding to you, pray for him, for it sounds like he is being blinded by the enemy as to how love responds.

    QUOTE (AnExample @ Jan 4 2008, 10:59 PM)

Some people are placed in your life for a season for a special purpose, and when that season is over, the person is no longer in your life on a consistent basis. And...everyone you meet has a purpose in your life or you in theirs. One teaches and the other learns. Eccl 3:1-8 on seasons.

I agree with both of these posts.

    :emot-pray:
