Yes, I fully agree. We are made in His image as you say. But even so, perhaps we are not meant to know everything. Perhaps the time will come when we'll understand. Isn't that what St Paul meant when he said: "What I know now is only partial; then it will be complete ..." 1 Corinthians 13 - 12. So whilst I fully agree with you, perhaps we are not meant to struggle in understanding everything God tells us in the Bilble. We're just meant to believe it. God bless. The Trinity is a subject that many theologians and great minds have tried to explain over the years ... and perhaps failed to do so. St Patrick of Ireland taught about the Trinity by showing people the shamrock which has three leaves but yet is one plant. Perhaps the reason we can't explain it in human terms is because we ARE humans and we are grasping with something which is superhuman - Godly in fact.
