  1. Who were the spirits in prison that Jesus freed upon his descent into Hades (1 Peter 3)?
  2. Ah, the heresy of soul sleep. Paul said that to be absent form the body (dead) is to be present with the Lord (in Spirit).
  3. What we have in this verse is a parallelism. He who believes and is baptized is saved. He who doesn't is damned. The fact is that it is through faith that we are cleansed by the Spirit of God. Baptism of the Spirit and faith are inseparable.
  4. If you take the time to notice the responses, no one is kicking against baptism, and no one is saying that it is not necessary. Where we disagree is over what we believe baptism is necessary for. Believing baptism is necssary is one thing. Believing it is necessary for salvation is something else. Just because we do not believe baptism to be essential to one's salvation does not mean we are "kicking against." Shiloh, What is baptism necessary for?
  5. Hi K.D., Why? Talk to me. Did you see my posts on this subject earlier in thsi thread? Could you please address them? I think we can make a good discussion out of this.
  6. Funny thing. Today I dipped an Ore on milk for the first time in several years. Just thought I'd share that. Seriously thouhg, this is a good discussion and I mean to to detract from it with silliness. Keep up the good work, Shiloh.
  7. Man, you did not respond to my last post to you. Someone here commented on the value of my response, so if you missed it, I encourage you to find it and read it. I am here to help.
  8. Let's take a look at the passage. Jhn 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Jhn 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jhn 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. In verse three, Jesus tells Nicodemus that one must be born a second time to enter the Kingdom of God. In verse four, we see that Nicodemus takes Jesus literally. In verse five, Jesus explains that he is not talking about two births of the same sort, but rather contrasts between the fleshly birth and spiritual birth. Please ask more questions if you do not understand what I am saying.
  9. There is no other way. Jesus is making the point that one must be born again (from above) to be saved, the first birth (of water) will not do, for flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God.
  10. Yes, you must be baptized to get to Heaven. Baptized by fire, that is.
  11. I am saying that Universalism is a lie of Satan.
  12. Well, I think Worthyboards has the correct policy in restricting the Universalists to posting their views in the one-on-one debate forum. It is a dangerous doctrine and should not be allowed to be presented to the babes in christ.
  13. Funny. I just posted this same quote at another forum and they deleted it because they thought I was advocating the heresy of universal salvation! Talk about knee-jerk reactions. Uh, maybe you didn't carefully read what you wrote, because what you said above is nothign short of preaching the damnable heresy of Universalism. I would hope that a board like this would not permit such blasphemy to be preached.
  14. I can understand when infidels doubt the reality of eternal hell, but when so-called "christians" express their doubts, I cannot help but to be worried. What is happening to the church today?
