An exposition of 2 Corinthians 5:1-8 KJV showing why the Immortal Soul crowd wrongly claims verse 8 supports their doctrine: [1] For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. (If our mortal body disintegrates, God has reserved for us a resurrection body.) [2] For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: (In these mortal “clothes” we groan for relief, greatly desiring to exchange them for our resurrection “clothes”.) [3] If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked. (If all that's true, our resurrection clothes will be the end of lying naked without a body, dead, in the grave when the body returns to the dust and the Spirit returns to God.) NOTE: "NAKED" CANNOT REFER TO "SPIRITUAL NAKEDNESS" - SEE VERSE 4: [4] For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. (While in our mortal clothes, we groan for relief from burdens - but we don't want that relief to come by resting in peace, naked and unclothed, without a body, dead, in the grave awaiting the resurrection - what we want is to put on our resurrection clothes and enjoy eternity.) IMPORTANT: If “naked” and “unclothed” refers to “spiritual nakedness” then verse 4 is the most asinine statement ever written since ink met paper: “For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: but we're not groaning with desire to get spiritually lost and go to hell, but to be clothed upon that mortality might be...” Even a blind man can see that “naked” and “unclothed” can only refer to that intermediate state between wearing mortal clothes and resurrection clothes – the state of lying naked and unclothed, without a body, dead, in the grave. [5] Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. (The same God Who prepared us for all this also gives us the Holy Spirit as assurance of it.) [6] Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (We remain steadfastly assured, even though we're still down here walking by faith instead of up there walking by sight.) [7] (For we walk by faith, not by sight: ) (Ditto) [8] We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. (We're confident our resurrection body awaits, and we Christians prefer to be absent from this mortal body – skip lying naked and unclothed, without a body, dead, in the grave awaiting the resurrection – and go on to be present with the Lord in that resurrection body.) Note: the text says “and to be present” which is a Statement of Preference which allows for three options: mortal clothes, no clothes, and resurrection clothes up there. It is not the habitually misquoted “is to be present” which is a Statement of Condition allowing for only two options: mortal clothes down here or resurrection clothes up there. Conclusion: The Immortal Soul crowd appeals to 2 Corinthians 5:8 KJV for support by either deliberately or unintentionally: 1) ignoring that our resurrection "clothes" are absolutely integral to being "present with the Lord" 2) ignoring Paul's "naked and unclothed" third option in order to claim there's only two: mortal clothes down here or immortal clothes up there. 3) habitually misquoting “and to be” as the inaccurate “is to be” which nicely shores up their "two option" error against Paul's three option truth.

Revelation 14:13. Soul Sleep. The Jehovah's Witnesses teach "soul sleep" i.e. that a person ceases to exist at the point of death, until their recreated by Jehovah God on the paradise earth. That being so, why the dead said to be "happy" when they have no existence? However even their own (false) Bible reads at Revelation 14:13: "Happy are the dead who die in union with the Lord from this time onward."
