Benediction: To pronounce a blessing upon another
Beatitudes: Instruction on how to live a blessed life
Doxology: A Paean of praise or triumph
The Priestly Benediction
Numbers 6:
22 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
23 Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying,
This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel.
Say to them:
24 The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
26 The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and grant you peace.
27 So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.
Beatitude of the Righteous
Psalm 1:1 Blessed the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly.
Nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season.
Whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.
6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
The Song of Moses
Exodus 15:
1 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the Lord, and spake,
saying, I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse
and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
2 The Lord is my strength and song, and he has become my salvation:
he is my God, and I will prepare him a habitation; my father's God,
and I will exalt him.
11 Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee,
glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
