I know its late, but I agree ham is quick and easy for a newbie cook. Any of the holiday casseroles are good for newbies too. Get pre-made rolls and heat them up. There are many quick and easy desserts, or just buy a premade pie or cake.

You'll do fine, and yes check out the cooking section on the boards.
